And since Superman never runs out of energy, goku has limitless KI, but is still not "the man of steel"
I Chose these two because they share the same story and outlook on life, and as to why they are fighting? Who knows? Who cares? Who would win? Love to hear your reasons.

Superman. Goku may have about the same power as him, but is not nearly as invulnerable. Plus, Superman has his eye beam, that doesn't need time to "load" and can even penetrate his own skin (as demonstrated by his clone when it burned out a chip in his skull)

Also, Goku can't survive in space (as I remember), while Superman can, so he may simply fly both of them to space.

but goku can survive in space, the only reason they ever use ships is to get to a place faster. he's 100% Saiyan. Plus, not all goku's attacks need time to load. Just the kamehameha wave and spirit bomb, both of wich would probably destroy superman. I think superman would knock him around a bit, probably beat him up good, then he'd go super saiyan, turning the tables, superman would use new tricks and powers and goku would eventually resort to finally going all the way to super saiyan 4 before they really get to the real fight. Ki blasts are probably an equal match for superman's heat vision, and theyre speed are the practically the same, all accept for one thing: The more levels goku goes up through to fight, the stronger and faster he gets. superman stays at one strength and at one speed. He's been beaten down with no kryptonite needed to do so. just look at doomsday's bouts with him. I think one of the last saiyens vs the son of krypton would last a long while before either of them even flinch. Problem is, goku is willing to kill if need be, but shows mercy at the same time. superman is alittle more merciful, and if goku saw him as a true threat, (Why they are fighting is beyond me) he could and would kill him... eventually, after like two freakin seasons of fights and filler...

Ah but Doomsday was infused with Kryptonian DNA (or something along those lines), so that was the only reason he could kill Superman. Anyway, as cool as Goku is, my money's on the Man of Steel.

Still though, you can't tell me this isn't a fight you wouldnt wanna see. I still think they are equally matched, and shouldnt be fighting, but I just wanted opinions.

What are you talking about? I'm being perfectly serious. The amount of time Goku spends 'powering up' in every episode to beat up some piss poor excuse for a villain, Superman has already saved the day, got the girl and managed to earn a disposable income working a 'real' job.

OMG I love that scene! WALL BUILDING POWERS ACTIVATE! It makes me laugh every time! Right up there with Turn world backwards while screaming to reverse the flow of time GODDAMMIT!

This thread nearly killed me once. So I'm not getting into it again. I'm sure someone here can vouch for that.

That said, a few points to stoke the fires:

-Superman is not invincible and I don't know why people got that into their heads. It's not a matter of Kryptonian or not Kryptonian because Darkseid can hand him a solid ass-kicking. (Though, as per story regulations, Superman wins in the end)

-Goku's extended charge-up sequences weren't a matter of ability but a matter of writing. They had to do something to keep themselves busy so Toriyama could get far enough ahead. This was before they mastered the art of the Filler Arc, you see, so all they could do was pad it out.

-Goku lacks a no-kill rule, but he only ever kills when there's no safe alternative. And I really doubt he'd want to kill Superman.

-Has anyone ever tried using a gun on Goku?

-Superman's eye lasers are one thing but they need to be focused on stronger opponents to be effective. Goku has taken much worse.

-I'd say Superman has the stronger punch and can take a stronger punch as well, but he lacks Goku's lifetime of martial arts training. So while Superman has the strength, Goku has the skill. I'd say they're about even in terms of speed.

-Goku can sense people via energy signature, and can do so over an absurd distance, even being able to sense dead people in the afterlife. Then he can teleport there. The second part, I think, has no impact on the fight. But it can work as a sort of Spider-Sense, and effective for a tactical retreat.

-Goku isn't as dumb as he looks and sounds and acts. I know someone is going to bring that up.

-Someone mentioned Goku can breathe in space? Superman can too.

Now, who do I think would win? Neither, they'd both agree that they're equally strong and both good people, then they'd team up to go fight Darkseid or Brainiac or something.

no one has tried to shoot goku in recent memory, but in one of the first episodes of DBZ, some redneck tried to shoot raditz... If I recall correctly, raditz caught the bullet. Seeing how weak Raditz is now, in comparison to goku, I'm sure a bullet wouldn't be a problem...

He doesnt act OR sound dumb. He acts and sounds like an anime character.... Different out here, totally normal in japan...

yes goku can probably take superman's heat vision without even flinching...

I too, agree that they are equal in terms of speed, and Strength doesn't outway skill so, Id'e say even match on that.

In the end, I agree that, yes, they would eventually team up...

In the end, they'de help eachother out, I think, but in my honest opinion, superman still has weaknesses. Goku's only weakness is if your stronger than he is... and that's it...

as for superman building walls with his eyes and turning back time? I personally think that stuff was abandined in later mythos as just plain stupid...
also, goku has died many times, no? Superman died like what, twice? And in both instances, was never really dead? Goku's been through hell, both theoretically and literally, and I think in a fight like this, it all comes down to experience, and goku's got that were it counts. Of course, he DOES have one recorded weakness....

As a Dragon Ball fan, I've seen this argument pop up way too many times to count on both of my hands. I'm just going to flat out say that it depends which incarnation of Superman we're dealing with and how far into the series Goku is. There are some incarnations of Superman that would probably curb-stomp him, or at least beat him easily. Meanwhile, there are some that an older Goku could beat without too much of a sweat.

It's also worth noting that if you're going by the manga for Dragon Ball, there's no easy way to judge how long it takes something to charge up. For instance, Goku's first shown transformation to Super Saiyan 3 takes more than 10 minutes in the anime, but a single panel in the manga.

Goku can't breathe in space. For some reason, Bardock was apparently able to breathe in space, though I've heard fanwanks like "He was still within the atmosphere of the nearby planet" or "Because he can control his ki so well, he can hold his breath longer." I suppose it could make sense in context. However, Freeza explicitly states that Saiyans can't breathe in space.

That being said, I seriously doubt that Superman would fight dirty and take Goku up into space. It would depend on how the fight goes down.
