We have now seen half of the Walmart exclusive Legacy Velocitron line and the one character that was really up in the air was Blurr. Some early rumours said it would be a new mold for Armada Blurr which would then be reused for G1 Point Blank. And then later there was a rumour that it would be a redeco of SS86 Blurr. Well, it's neither, it is IDW Blurr. While it is based heavily on the SS86 mold, it is not just a redeco but has retooled parts in the alt mode and robot mode to give him that IDW look. The alt mode is especially different in the front half, as you will see in the images below coming at us from a new Chefatron review.
This means that the different universes used in this line so far are IDW, RID (kind of), G1 and Unicron Trilogy.
The full list of toys in this line is below but the ones we have yet to see are Burnout, Roadrocket and Cosmos.
Deluxe:
Tra Gen velocitron Burnout x2
Tra Gen velocitron Road Rocket x2
Tra Gen velocitron Blurr x2
Tra Gen velocitron Clampdown x1
Tra Gen velocitron Cosmos x1
Voyager:
Tra Gen Velocitron Override x2
Tra Gen Velocitron Road Hauler x1
Leader:
Tra Gen Velocitron Black Convoy x2

Nobody likes that kind of unintended bait-and-switch curve ball.
I'm rather... surprised, yet pleased that they picked a comic design that we don't get a lot of these days.

Were that many people hoping for Zechs Merquise Armada Blurr ? I really had no idea what this was going to be, but I'll admit IDW Blurr was a surprise, since that continuity is dead (though to be honest I have no idea if Blurr is in the currently ending IDW, or if so what he even looks like).
But I'll admit, although I have no interest, it is a pretty effective retool. Usually with so many reuses you just get repaints, but SS86 Blurr used 3 times, having 3 unique heads, and additional tooling is pretty noteworthy.

I thought there was a good chance for a more traditional toy / Marvel Blurr alongside Cyclonus, Springer, and Impactor, so I'm disappointed I can't build out that shelf more. I'm not mad though, love to see IDW get some love.

Yes. At least I was. Have no real attachment to IDW Blurr.
An Armada Blurr update would have worked with the updates to other Unicorn Trilogy characters we've been and are getting.

Hopefully this does mean that IDW2005 designs are not off the table for future lines, even for other legacy characters. I got '86 Blurr earlier in the year, so I don't need this one, but happy for the folks who like it! Looking forward to reveals for the rest of the figures from this line.
I wouldn't be adverse to more IDW designs either - I'm not the most fond of IDW's designs or stories, but I think it'd be cool for people who want "Generations" scaled figures and not wanting to spend big bucks on 3P offerings - plus there are a few designs I'd personally like to see be produced, like the DJD (We do have two different Tarn figures...but I'd def prefer one in-line with WFC and actually transforms. )

Who cares if the comic is over. That design has popped in other media over the last decade. Most recently in cyberverse. Armada has been gone for 18 years and yet people were wanting armada blur. If the character and design makes a popular impact it’s going to stick around
And yes, blur has appeared in current IDW with this look in the comic that was based on this sub line

The excitement for an Amrada Blurr was two fold. Firstly, there are UT fans out there (I mean there better be, Hasbro is going all out for that group with a Titan this year) and secondly, G1 fans were hoping that this mold would be our first look at the Point Blank mold.
I personally like this release, it will make a more accurate recreation of that Wrecker splash page from All Hail Megatron (can't believe I sold my Drift )

I can see that pointblank as an easy retool of Punch, especially because Hasbro recently re-released that mold.

But times are tougher, money's tighter, and toys are more expensive. Plus, I've amassed 5 Blurs. Time to pass.

Am I still disappointed that Armada Blurr isn't here? Yes, HOWEVER, this Blurr is waaaay more appealing to me than the alternate rumor of "G1 Blurr with the blues switched" ever was. It's got a way better head sculpt than the G1 version, the amount of retooling is unexpected, and it's probably the closest we'll get to an Animated Blurr anytime soon, so I guess I'm in.
Posted by Tuned Agent on June 8th, 2022 @ 7:06pm CDT
This looks unexpectedly good! It's not perfect, but it does dramatically impove this mold IMO. Far better than the rumored toy colored Blurr.
This renews my hope for more toys of IDW designs. Might have to pick this up. Why does so much of this line look good.
Posted by Razorbeast88 on June 8th, 2022 @ 7:49pm CDT
I like the colors and headsculpt but not enough to double dip on this mold. Rather wait for an updated tf:animated blurr someday

They were expecting Cybertron Blurr. I think the Ovveride was great (except the price) and would like to se more like it! This is good for what it is though.

I do wonder if a proper Armada Blurr remake will actually be called Blurr after we saw RID Scourge become amalgamated with Nemesis Prime. I guess it didn't stop Prime Universe Arcee from keeping her name.

I find it a bit ironic how G1 Sunstreaker is portrayed as someone who is proud and protective of his appearance, yet the ER figure's paint job is such a botch.Till-all-R1 wrote:Hopefully they reissue Sunstreaker in this line, and if they don't soon I'm going to assume they don't like the character considering how many times I've seen Arcee released in the last four years...

HOW?
Were you around at the ROTF times?
SS Blurr is a 1-step changer compared to those.

Not being a fan of the character in general I passed on Blurr, in fact I found him to be tad annoying in the movie. lol However, with the recent Pulse sale bringing it down to $15 I couldn't pass it up to complete the 86 movie lineup.
Anyway, hearing this slightly bothers me as pretty much every figure I've bought has a somewhat easy transformation.

Blurr, has a few things here and there that make the transformation unpleasant. Getting everything to tab in for car mode is a chore for instance.
His chest doesn't really stay in place in robot mode. He's not terrible, but I'm glad I picked up for cheap from Amazon rather than paying full price for him.
All in all, he has some interesting bits of engineering and some other decisions that boggle the mind.
TR Blurr I think does it much better, and gets a good hover car mode out of it.

Hard to transform? Nah. I think TR blur isn't as good, it slopes in reverse (the bottom slopes up, very inaccurate), and Blur gets his giant back arm pieces on the Studio Series release. The head sculpt is iffy, but I might actually pick this up and see what I think about it in hand.

*says the one with victory Leo as a signature*
I heard it was white that's hardest, but thinking back on it Sunstreakers colors may be a bit off. Apparently it was bad enough for Lazy Eyebrow to have to repaint. Maybe that's another reason Bumblebee is such a bad character?

Hilariously, the extra kibble on 86 Blur is much more accurate
Also, check your grammar!

Kind of, it's still excessive and too much ends up overflowing, resulting in a look that ends up just as bad if not worse than none at all ala TR Blurr.
