Cybertron.ca is reporting that Wave 1 of the Transformers Mighty Muggs and 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime have been released at Canadian Retail. You can post your sightings of these items by clicking here.
I myself can can confirm these sightings as I saw them in an Ontario Walmart this morning. As usual Canadian packaging falls short of superior U.S. packaging.
The Mighty Muggs Transformers come in a generic package sporting the box front of Mighty Muggs Optimus Prime for all four wave 1 characters. Interestingly enough, the back is just a suggested sell (much the same as Movie, Universe and Animated Deluxe packaging) of both wave 1 and 2 figures including Grimlock and Starscream indicating that they aren't far behind their wave 1 counterparts.
What is probably the most interesting thing is 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime. While the packaging isn't as nice and doesn't include the DVD it does have something the U.S. version doesn't have. A properly painted Optimus Prime! Will this make this a more popular eBay catch, or will it matter to collectors outside of Canada?

EDIT: It seems that the Canadian release is not as pink as the US one.

Well I picked up the US version a month ago for the DVD (which was badly put together IMHO) but I may have to get the CDN version just because of the correct colour on the trailer I assume Down_Shift?

Well screw that then...I'm not paying that kind of money or a reproduction that isn't even accurate, correct colours or not...
I can't recall seeing or hearing about one single kid that ever stabbed himself in the eye with Optimus Prime's shoulder...
And considering that the anniversary Prime is obviously aimed at adult collectors (considering the price and package) there's no reason why we can't handle tall smokestacks...

The trailer is a deeper gray and the cab is a deeper red. I think it's worth the $70 CDN. Can't wait to see what else we'll see out of the re-issue figures this year. I have a feeling we'll see re-issue Constructions what with the movie and the moulds are still out there and all that noise.typh0id wrote:I can't recall seeing or hearing about one single kid that ever stabbed himself in the eye with Optimus Prime's shoulder...
Just another big step in the puss-ification of the world my friend.

If it was trilingual it might make it down south of the border.
And I'd be interested in picking it up.
I'm crossing all the fingers that I can for it to be released down here.

Awesomesauce. That means they did have plans to release it in Latin America. Spanish Speaking Latin America Anyway.
Thanks, very cool indeed. I'll have to keep an eye out for my Wal-Mart for when they get them in.

Yeah...I hear that man...I understand we gotta keep the kiddies safe but they take it to such extreme measures...
WE all managed to survive our death-toys somehow...
