Seibertron.com member Immortal Starscream shares some sad info regarding the release dates of the Transformers Revenge of The Fallen toyline.
Ok, nobody likes bad news, but unfortunately I have some and I have to share it. Not only does my walmart not have the preview figs, but most here in Austin apparently don't. So I researched Soundwaves UPC and item code, and heres what I found out:
The Transformers Movie Preview figs are currently in the Wal-mart computers listed as having THE SAME RELEASE DATE as the rest of the figs. Not only that, but according to our systems (I triple checked this with my telzan) the transformers movie toys sale lock out doesn't turn off until the May 31 instead of the 30 as marked on the boxes.
Ive been wondering WTF?! with wal marts toys lately. We never got the 25th anniversary turtles, when we were supposed to back in February, we only just now got terminator toys, which have been out in all other retail chains for over a month, we stopped receiving GI Joe way back in January, and many of the newer action figure lines that have come out in recent months have ever made it to the wal mart shelves. I've been meaning to talk to my regional director about this, but my emails have not been returned yet.
I will keep you guys and gals posted as I learn more.

And I don't even really care if the preview figs come out with the rest or if everything comes out a day late because a) of the two previews, I only want Soundwave so it's just ONE more figure to wait for and b) even though I want a lot of the movie toys and I'm looking forward to them, I'm not at ALL worried about getting ahold of them because I know there will be absolutely no shortage of them...So I'm just not interested in killing myself trying to get everything the exact day it comes out...They won't be going anywhere for a long time...
That's just me though

I've noticed the same problems sited by IS. Makes me want to take and see about getting the **unexplainable distortion** out of Wal-Mart anyway possible.

For example, look at the TF Animated stuff last summer. Walmart was the first to put it out by about two weeks, and everyone in the community scrambled to go after them. Most Walmarts here were getting hit heavily and by the time Target and TRU put their TFA stuff out, Walmart had sold through a large part of there's. What's funny is that alot of the stuff that Target and TRU had at that point started to pegwarm - because Walmart cornered the market by those two weeks.
Same thing could happen here. If Walmart, TRU, and Target don't time this right, they could see another game of catch-up with each other. So many figures are getting leaked out early that is shows the timing should be more stream-lined.

As for SW and other lines - Hasbro won't be putting much effort into those with ROTF coming soon. They lost a bit of money last time, when there was that TFTM drought just after the first couple of Waves. I can see Hasbro and the retailers really loading up on the ROTF stuff - so much so, that they don't want to run out.

As far as I've heard, it was a worldwide date. The Preview Wave (Bumblebee, Soundwave) isn't supposed to be held back by a street date, but Hasbro had some kind of a mix up and all of the figures are due to be released on the 30th, instead of the 15th like we were promised.
Your experience is proof that some stores went with the Preview and released them for sale.

not only this but toysrus seems to have released all the coloring books and such for the kids, i even found the junior novel adaptation supposedly, i didn't dare read through it but i saw a page and i recognized the college scene from the movie, i didnt buy it for fear of spoils and my rush to get home for other things but i fear that may have been the 'recall' excuse too, i just think some idiot took everything out of the back store room too early

I have money! Money that I will pay you for ROTF toys!
Why can I not have them? I know they are in my town, I've seen accompanying wave items!
All I want is to pay Hasbro ridiculous amounts of money for plastic! Is that so wrong?!?
Also, I'm wondering what the marketing strategy is for blue-balling American collectors when many other places in the world already have them (some places for a month or so >_>). I don't have a problem with other people getting them, I just wonder why everyone can't get them at the same time...

At Barnes&Noble we've gotten in the whole range of colouring books, sticker books, "I Can Read" books, and other such children's merchandise for ROTF...WalMart also has a few ROTF t-shirts and swim-trunks, and underwear for kids too...
But aside from the Robot Heroes, I've seen nothing in the way of toys...

You are not alone. The Wal-Mart I work at is pretty much doing the same thing. Every day I go to work I take a trip up/down the toy aisle either on my break or when going up front, and I'm nearly disapointed every time. *Warning, rant!*
Even though I only collect Transformers, I spy on some other action figures from time to time. Joes? Very few to be had right now, and they're probably pretty old.
Marvel? Pretty good stock of X-Men origins, but the other 3 inchers(which do apparently sell around here), they had a bunch at first, were gone for a few weeks, and we only got a few more in recently, which are nearly sold out again. I got a feeling there won't be too many more in.
There was also supposed to be some kind of "Marvel Legends Holocaust Build a Figure Wave" that I never saw a single figure of. Or BAF Brood Queen. Heck, I never saw any Hasbro Marvel Legends after the second wave it seemed like, barring the exclusive Ares wave(which sold pretty quickly).
Spider-Man's in near conastant supply, and we're still getting Iron Man movie figures! Saw the original Iron Monger on the peg today.
DC? Buncha 3 inchers, but the 6 inch "Legends"(which I pick up for my bro) sell out pretty fast, usually withing a few days, but there's sometimes a month or more gap in between when we get them in. Tons of "Darkknight" figures though, and a pretty good stock of Brave and Bold(which seems like they get restocked pretty heavily).
Bakugan? I don't know what's up with it, but I sell quite a few of these things(I'm a cashier), but those pegs are almost universally empty.
Oh yes, and Transformers? We were pretty good around Christmas, but after? I saw Universe Hound and Cyclonus there a few times, but not very many(luckily I picked them up at Target). Ratchet and Hotshot came and went pretty quickly(didn't want either), and then for some reason Acid Storm and Co. came back and afterwards, only to be quickly bought out. But of course, now those pegs are occupied by Terminator figures.
Transformer Legends? I stupidly didn't get Beachcomber when I had the chance, and they honestly have not gotten a single one since sometime in February(even though they sold like hotcakes around Christmas), and never once did I see Wheelie, Cosmos, or Warpath. And guess what? Those pegs were also replaced by Terminator.
Voyager size TF's? I keep seeing Treadbolt and co., never Inferno, nothing of the later waves. I spied Animated Voyager Megatron today, Starscream, Prime, and Bulkhead once in a while, but Blitzwing, Lugnut and Grimlock have been absent nearly all year. Oh yeah, never saw Shockwave or Skywarp.
Animated deluxes are annoying too. They got in Samarai Prowl and Waspinator a couple months back, and then put out Wave 2(three? The only with Sentinal Prime and Elite Guard Bee) afterwards. They've pegwarmed for awhile, but they still sell pretty steadily.
However, they have tons of Activators, including Cliffjumper, and Dirge.
So all in all, sorry for the rant(needed a vent), but something is messed up, specially since the Wal-Mart I work at is the busiest in the area.
I can only HOPE that I can get all of Legends Devastator from Wal-Mart......

I own ROTF Leader Prime. You do not want to pass him up. He's a completely new mold, and nothing like the first movie's figure.
Yes it's true all he has are swords and no guns, but the figure makes up for any lack of weapons.
The whole figure is a brand new mold, brand new redesign. If there's one figure to buy from this line, it's Optimus.
He's literally Masterpiece quality. Details, difficulty, etc. He looks as good as the Masterpiece figures and of the same quality.
If you don't like him, take him back to the store, but at least give him a chance. He's the absolute best figure of ROTF and the first movie lines combined.
I kid you not.

He does have plastic wheels, but this is not a bad thing. For one, you don't have to worry about tires rotting and cracking like on RID figures. Two, you don't have to worry about the tires slipping off the rim and having to put 'em back in place.
As for the rest of him, there's nothing flimsy about him. There are a few hinges that seem breakable at first, but once you start transforming him to and from truck mode, you get the feel for the figure and see he's not as fragile as your mind would lead you to believe.
On top of that, if it would be a worry that he's fragile, he's the type of figure that gives you a better grip on it while transforming it, so you can go slowly and take your time. If you're about make a move that you think is going to break him, you can always approach it from another angle and make it work.
For example, the sleeper section of his cab (becomes his backpack) the panels only swing one way, safely, so as to not stress the plastic and hurt it. I stressed mine, and tried swinging it the other way, and sure enough, it worked better and no more stress marks. A lot of pieces on him work that way, actually.
Oh and pay basic attention to the instructions. They don't tell you about the sleeper cab panels swinging the one way instead of the other. (In fact, they tell you to swing it around the way it would stress the plastic.)
Seriously. If you don't like him, just run him back to the store, but at least give him a chance. A few years down the road when you can't easily find one, and you see how awesome it is, you'll want to kick yourself.

oh dont worry, ive already made plans along with our back room supervisor. Even if the shelf remod hasnt been set by our overnight team, im pulling the pallets out at midnight. and im buying mine too, whatever the computers say. says on the box in bright orange, 30th, and thats when im buying. and I already know a few others that will be there, no way the overnight manager is gomma turn down a sale of over $1000

They've only cleared the pegs where the Universe Deluxes and Legends figures were.
Though, they still have about two weeks, so I wouldn't be surprised if they make it happen.
...but then again, this store is notoriously slow. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they don't put them out on the night of the 30th.

Same here, on both accounts actually. It was odd because Concept Camaro Bumblebee was shelfwarming as a premium (but finally sold out) while the classic Camaro went flying off the pegs. The clearanced the other figures in that case.
And the Animated Voyagers dropped to $19.96 here as well. Everything else is still outrageously expensive compared to the competition. I still believe Wal-Mart is raising prices now, only to undercut the competition when ROTF toys come out.

One of the Wal-Marts in this area goofed and put their entire stock of ROTF on the shelves two nights before Star Trek came out. The prices were $12.88 for Deluxe class figures. I don't remember the price of the Voyagers, but they seemed the same price as Animated/Universe overall.
