We sadly report the passing of Buster Jones, musician, actor and voice talent for multiple animated series in the 70s and 80s, including The Transformers, where he portrayed the Autobot music enthusiast Blaster. The following excerpt is from this post, where multiple links can be found to interviews conducted by Jones through the years. He will be missed.

Buster Jones, popular cartoon voice actor of the 1970s-80s, passed away on 9/15/14. I learned of this because his neighbor kindly notified his Facebook friends list one at a time. Buster was not married and had no children.

In 2011, I had the privilege of interviewing him for my Super Friends blog series. It was the first interview he gave about his animation voiceover work. His interview was one of the most candid of that (or any of my) series—in fact, one of his stories in particular is flat-out ribald. Buster had been out of the VO business for a while and was desperate for work. That interview got him invited to a cartoon convention in Texas, for which he got paid—and the royal treatment.

When talking conversationally, Buster had a stutter. However, when he recorded, it went away.

Just wanted to share a few thoughts about him. I was very happy to get to have a few minutes to visit with him at BotCon 2012 at the Golden Ticket event. I'm not quite sure of what he thought about BotCon and Transformers fans ... I think he was kind of taken aback by the event. I enjoyed my visit with him that night and thought I'd share a couple of pictures of Walter and jON3.0 with Buster and a pic of me with him. Really bummed to hear about this. It's a solemn reminded that even our heroes are human and will at one point succumb to time.

he was also the 2nd Winston on the Ghostbusters cartoon after Arsenio Hall left if i'm correct. so two major losses in one!!

RIP Buster. I'll always remember your '86 movie lines (great quotes), and of course, Blaster blasting music through Teletran, while most Autobots covered their ears, and Jazz busted a move. Classic G1 moment... I'll miss you dude...
