I'm hoping that Takara does a Generation 2 themed pack with both of the triple changing voyagers from this wave.

The stickers on Megatron are off putting and his arm cannon is too small IMO but I may give the Takara version a try since it's clear that Hasbro's version of Megatron is an after thought to what's clearly a Blitzwing mold. So Maybe Takara will put in little more effort in theirs...?

If it's the same treatment Legends Astrotrain got, we'll be in for a treat.
That said, out of the 6 Triple Changers, only Springer and Sandstorm aren't Headmasters now. Springer could share forms with Battletrap like the BotCon toy if there's one planned, but Sandstorm...

Just like they used and put more effort into Sentinel Prime and the CW Leader Seekers, right?

They make some neat figures overall, but I'd prefer their retools of Blitzwing and Octane. Besides, I'm fine with my Classics Prime and Megs. I personally prefer how they're stylized while looking like their old selves without any gimmicks (other than transformation). And what about those toys as Super Megatron and Scourge? Not into Supertron, but Scourge? I am so in!

I wonder if Optimus Prime will be Star Convoy in the version?
i Bet Optimus will be retooled as Octane (that would be awesome)
I was hoping too for Super Megatron too in the version too?
Blitzwing will be perfect here, the only problem here are his weapons

Just to let you know, Octane and Blitzwing are already confirmed so no need to bet, aside from wondering how much retooling will be involved. And I'm not sure if takara will even release this Megatron. So far they have only released one toy per mold in this line.

Deluxe class is still stealing the show in this line for sure. This wave of legends looks pretty decent but overall they haven't impressed me all that much. Voyagers suffer a bit imo due to being triple changers. I'd say the same for currently released leaders based on looks alone since I don't have any in hand. But I'm perfectly okay with all that. The upcoming leaders seem great.
I'm not even sure I still like Fort Max. Might be time to pawn him off for some upcoming deluxe class money.

It would seem weird if they didn't release the Prime, as big as Laser Prime has been for them. At least as Scourge from RiD to go with Ruination, if nothing else.
Likewise with Megatron representing a version of Megatron that never got a toy from Japanese continuity.
My dream would be that Prime in his G2 Ultra Magnus deco.

So it would be Either Black Convoy/Scourge on the Optimus Prime Retooling.... i see, i have really big hopes for Megatron though, he might be renamed as "Dark Nova" for some purposes on his version
I'll buy Blitzwing and Octane if Misfire and Slugslinger is released
Gotta love Optimus and Megatron in their modes

Aside from Blurr and Brainstorm, but that's for pretty obvious reasons - Blurr being the main use of this mold and him being the character it's made for, and Brainstorm completing the Headmaster squad.
I don't know why everyone's so set on this being redecoed into a Super Megatron. Is there anything particularly Super Megatron-y about it compared to other toys? If anything I'd argue with the shape of his legs, his massive Fusion Cannon and his wings, the Classics toy resembles him more. Super Megatron this TR Voyager is not.

I agree. It just looks like yet a another take on the typical G1 Megatron look, but as a triple changer jet-tank.Kurona wrote:william-james88 wrote:Albatross250 wrote::-?

If any Megatron toy out was made to deliberately resemble Super Megatron, it was Animated Leader class Megatron (in robot mode only, though).

But they dont always do it. It looks like they do, but if you pay attention, you will see that the Black Primes from japan arent always from takara but by licensed companies and sent out as exclusives. So its not really the takara versions and they are sold at mass retail in japan nor readily available. So while what you want might happen, it will probably be an expensive collectible not made by Takara. And in any case, this pic of Baldigus from Takara PR is a pretty good statement that they feel the Scourge that goes with it is already out:
I mean seriously, when was the last time Takara made a black prime repaint as a mass retail release?
You guys can keep wishing all you want, but I just dont want to see you discouraged if nothing happens, which is the most likely outcome.
And Kurona, I was only talking about redecos, the tooling between Brainstorm and Blurr was different enough that it made sense for them to release both. But I dont see that same amount of retooling going into Blitzwing and Octane, which is why I think thwy will be skipped, at least at the regular retail level.

They were talking about the first new molds of Optimus and Megatron which were made to update their G1 designs. They came out 10 years ago but recent got rereleased, so you can still get them if you want:

In any case, Generations Leaders with Generations Leaders, and Masterpieces with Masterpieces. Styling just fits better especially since the Leaders contain a lot more artistic liberties while the MPs are to-the-letter cartoon-accurate models. Only time they should be mixed imo is if they're filling a space of a character one collection doesn't have; like MP Shockwave with the Leaders of Leader Megatron with the MPs (at least, until MP-36 comes out)

While I dont think the Leader Seekers are better at all, I think its becoming more and more accepted that the MP Seekers are overrated or at least not as good as they could be. They are a 10 year old mold which was never meant to be a cartoon accurate rendition of them. And it shows, with their feet and inverted cockpit tapering on their chest as proof of that. Until the tracks mold came out, they were easily the least good of the MP line.

Currently, MP Hot Rod seems to work well as a space filler for Rodimus Prime and has the advantage of near perfect Voyager scaling. He has very similar height and proportions to Voyager Galvatron.
But I would argue MP Grimlock in Dino mode is probably a permanent solution for a S3 Autobot team. First of all because he is detail laden and has liberties taken. Second because he looks properly goofy and stands in a way that we now know T-Rexes didn't stand; new Grimlocks will almost always err on the side of either archaeological accuracy or coolness and will lack that "heavyset comedy sidekick" quality. Third because his scale relative to the other S3 figures in dinosaur mode is perfect and while his robot scale seems a bit too big, he was almost never in robot mode during S3.

I simply preffer Hasbro's price point. Since I am mostly buying Hasbro, I dont like Takara's system of pairing up legends with the extra heads, I preffer being able to buy that stuff individually, based on what I like and want.

Kurona wrote:The first isn't really that common and sounds like a problem exclusive to the Jetfire mold. What exactly did that hinge do?
What do you mean by the second exactly
The hinge on Generations Jetfire lowers his engines and tails so they sit lower and not up behind his head.
By removing the hinge Starscream, Skywarp & Thundercracker instead of having the "Classic" wing shape they have double wings - now I realise some IDW realted designs have a slit in the wing - but the wings sit much lower they certainly don't sit up above the head like that.
Also they didn't really put a lot of effort into remoulding as much as they could have such as the lower legs, or hands. - not essential but by removing the hinge they remove the option to display them in a more traditional look to the shape of the wings.
Personally I'd have live a bit more effort put into them considering some of the joint are to tight and some way to loose (a flaw carried over from Jetfire) and even if they are not traditional they probably could have kept the jetboosters too.
The only explanation I can come up with for such a silly change to make - in removing that hinge is to save a fraction of a minute in assembling them, or maybe something to do with the strength of the wings - speaking of which did they really need to make the wings that immobile ?
------
As for the Fansproject issue some of the parts on their headmasters - (also the Maketoys version of Metroplex - especially the arms) but in particular the Saurus Ryu Combiner have the same left and right arms meaning instead of screw holes always being on the inside or the outside edge the are all on the left or all on the right with a divot moulded in the other side to loosely coincide with the shape of the screw hole you can also tell that some of the limbs are the same piece twice due to them not being quite a symmetrical mirror as you'd expect. This applies to beast feet and robot arms in particular.
It was also the case on their version of Mindwipe in this shot guns - they are the same rather than a left a right kind. with screw holes on the same side.
The only instance I can think of where this is a positive is when there is asymmetry in the design so it's a positive on G1 Hardhead's rifles for example Usually the way guns attaches it stand out in a bad way - in Hardhead's case it works though.
Another thing I'm not a fan off is the use of stamps in areas that show to obviosuly - when they are using paint stamps as well why use plastic stamps too ? That can sometimes be place in a really ugly place such as Animated Soundwave - all end up with a huge scar on their leg because of it.
