Are you hungry (hun-gurry?) for more Transformers: Power of the Primes news? The sequel line to both Combiner Wars and Titans Return - in both chronological succession and gimmick borrowing - has already brought US customers the first wave of deluxe figures, meaning that Jazz, Dreadwind and the two Dinobots Slug and Swoop are currently making the rounds across states, from Michigan to California, to Arizona and more! You can check if anyone near you has spotted the figures by using our Database tool here.

With that in mind, why not compare the in-hand images we've showcased so far in our news posts, with the first video reviews of the four deluxe figures, courtesy of YouTube reviewer peaugh? You can find all four videos embedded below, showing off the accessories, bios, cards, Prime Master compatibility, and robot and alt-modes - but no combinations yet, we'll have to wait for the voyagers Starscream and Grimlock for that!

You know, it totally hit me who Dreadwind would make a good arm for! Galvatronus! And yeah, I know, he's Dreadwind he's supposed to be a powermaster and not some 'dumb gimmick arm' but what can I say?

We have seen the majority of Transformers Power of the Primes wave 1's stock images back in this news post here, and the deluxes from the wave are now showing up in stores across the US. But to complement our previous story on Rodimus Unicronus (which may look like a Shattered Glass Rodimus, but is in fact a corrupt version of Rodimus, imbued with Unicron's influence through a dark Matrix of sorts - the Matrix of Chaos), we now have some clear stock images via Toys'R'Us.ca and fellow Seibertronian ToxicSmoke!

You can check out the mustachioed evolved Leader class version, plus Nemesis Hot Rod, the smaller Deluxe robot/car, plus the purple Autobot symbol all over the paintjob - still not fully clarifying which of the two shields the figure will be wearing as a final product. Check it out!

You know, its really going to be weird if this line lacks any big and powerful Leader-class villains especially after just how many we got in Titans Return (Sixshot, Black Shadow and Overlord as well as the out-of-scale Leader Soundwave). Yet comparatively so far its been frankly anemic when it come to Leader-class villains, with only a (admittedly cool-looking) black repaint of Hot Rod/Rodomus. Or is this going to be a mostly-Autobots line for Leader-class figures whereas Titans Return had a lot of Decepticons?

It's just not like Hasbro to not release a Megatron in this line. Its kind of a requirement at this point. Like I know he already had a Leader-class figure in CW, a Voyager (as the Blitzwing pretool) in TR (or two if you technically count Galvatron). I know people don't need a new Megatron so soon but its just weird to not have any major lead villain revealed as a big toy. All we got so far is a new Starscream.

Unless we do get Star Saber as a Leader-class with Thunderwing as his pretool. That would be so damn cool.

To everyone who has a problem with Rodimus Unicronus being an evil Autobot, did you have the same issue with DOTM Sentinel Prime's toys? He was the main antagonist in that movie, so all his toys represented a bad guy Autobot. What harm does this one do that DOTM Sentinel's toys didn't do, especially when this Rodimus Unicronus is still supposed to be the same guy as the normal Rodimus Prime instead of a doppelganger?

And the hunt is on! Hopefully these will hit the East Coast by New Year's, but you can never trust distribution these days.
I love the powermaster homage with Dreadwind's armor. They even molded Hi-Test's hip joints!

Also, I have a theory about the leader class. There may only be three new molds per line. CW had Jetfire (released in T30, but could have been designed with the others), Megatron, and Ultra Magnus. TR had Blaster, Sixshot, and Overlord. We've seen three new molds for POTP.... uh oh. Hopefully I'm wrong and we get a Star Saber/Thunderwing after all, but it's looking a little dicey.

Retools from earlier lines still count towards the total budget (Starscream, Powermaster Optimus Prime). We got Optimus, Rodimus and Primal for new molds, but retools we know nothing about.

Crap, you're right. But then again, we might seem some serious retooling at works. There is also the distinct possibility that the share engineering between the two previous lines allow allow for more character variation.

It may very well be possible for a previous Leader class figure to get some MASSIVE retooling into something else. If not, oh well. Guess we're not seeing Star Saber, Thunderwing or Deathsaurus any time soon.

...Maybe next line?

I like Rodimus Unicronus, and might buy both colors of him and Prime, though I like Unicronus better.

As far as DOTM Sentinel goes, part of that was to throw us off of his character in the movie, to not spoil us with the fact he was a villain... though I don't mind the trick there either... only part I did mind was that they didn't make a leader Megatron too!

I did have the same issue DOTM Sentinel.

I'm a toy-first collector, and so- if he has a Shattered Glass Autobot Symbol he will be on an Autobot shelf. Just like my Collectors club combiner-Starscream.

I was bummed that he had SG-colors instead of MP-09B colors, but it's still close I can look past it. But, as someone that is endlessly upset by the vastly imbalanced Autobot-to-Decepticon ratio, I was still hoping for a :CON: .

Still going to get it, though.

I read it, but the new images confuse things even more:

Check it out, purple Autobot symbol on the front, Decepticon symbol on the side. Seems pretty likely to me that stickers will be included and someone accidentally mixed them, but I guess we'll know in a few months.

There is a reason and its a good one too, its not part of their job. They will not keep a record of who wants what and call if ever something is found, especially when they could simply put in on the shelf and potentially have someone buy it right away instead of seeing it in a truck, then checking to see who wanted it, then calling the person to see if they still want it, and then put it aside until that person comes. Its just really not worth it and doing it once would cause a precedent. So making it a policy is a way to avoid that and maximizing their time especially since all stores are usually understaffed.

Not a happy answer, but I hope it sheds some light ;)^

Aww man, I'd kill for that wave to freshen things up near me, no, I put some stock out a month ago and it was the legit wave 1('17) figures: hotrod, doublecross, triggerhappy and breakaway. I was so pissed since we had just finished moving that wave from our store which had been there since December of last year :BOOM:

If you can go somewhere with really nice people and explain things to them, they might make a note, but WJ's spot on with his answer, plus the fact that there's always a million + 1 things to do at a retail store.

While Hasbro had mentioned something along the lines when introducing Power of the Primes, it was never clear exactly what was going on with the cards that came with the Power of the Primes figures. Now with the wave one deluxes being found at US retail, fans have posted the back of the cards and it confirms that there will be more than one specific card for each character. From all the variations we have seen, it seems there will be one for every possible combination of Prime Master and deluxe, though there is currently no photo evidence of every single Prime combined with one specific deluxe. This may prove a real pain for the few collectors out there who have a collector card collection since that could potentially mean twelve cards for each deluxe. Also, it is not just the back that is different, but the front of the car, on the top right side would also show a different Prime symbol depending on the combination.

Below are examples at the diversity of the cards found so far. Some come from the recent Peugh reviews, others from fans like Anguirus and Gallade as well as many others whose sources were tricky to narrow down due to all the reposting, courtesy of this Power of the Primes frenzy. If any image below belongs to you, please let us know and we will give you the proper credit.

For now, here are several different takes on the same four characters, Dreadwind, Slug, Jazz and Swoop. You will notice how each different Prime gives these characters new powers.

So by my count...

Wave 1
Liege Maximo
(w/ Skullgrin Decoy Armor)
Micronus
(w/ Cloudburst Decoy Armor)
Vector Prime
(w/ Metalhawk Decoy Armor)

Wave 2
Alchemist Prime
(w/ Submarauder Decoy Armor)
Alpha Trion
(w/ Landmine Decoy Armor)

Future waves

Prima
(w/ Sky High Decoy Armor)
Nexus Prime
(w/ Splashdown Decoy Armor)
Solus Prime
(w/ Groundbreaker Decoy Armor)
Amalgamous Prime
(w/ Bugly Decoy Armor)
Quintus Prime
(w/ Finback Decoy Armor)
Onyx Prime
(w/ Iguanus Decoy Armor)
Megatronus
(w/ Bomb-Burst Decoy Armor)

NOTE: I only theorize about the pairings, but given there are 12 Primes (omitting Optimus/the Arisen, because that seems like a doubtful release) and 12 original Pretenders, this lineup isn't too far out of the question.

Hasbro revealed with their Transformers Power of the Primes product descriptions that the SRPs for the line were going to follow the price hike seen in the Transformers: The Last Knight toyline. The price hike wasn't felt too badly in the US due to there being a healthy competition in the toy market and stores like Walmart not changing their established price points from previous lines, along with the fact that the price hike in USD was not as egregious as, say, 30-100%. However, in other countries, like Australia and Canada, the price hike was massive, and felt throughout the fan community of these respective countries. For instance, Canada's price for deluxes went from $20 to $30 which is a 50% increase in price (This also comes to show how having fewer competitors in a market can wreak havoc for consumers.)

So the fact that Hasbro's SRPs for the Power of the Primes line was showing the same SRP as the Last Knight toyline was alarming. Thanks to the very first listings from a big box retailer, on Toysrus.ca, we now know that the Power of the Primes toys will not be following the price hike for the Transformers: The Last Knight toyline. They will instead keep their $20 for deluxe, $30 for voyager and $60 for leader price points which sure beat the respective $30, $40, $75 price points for the current movie line (all prices in $CAD of course).

What is interesting to see here is that this may indicate that the price hike may not have had a positive impact on toy sales and thus lowered. We already saw signs of this when both Walmart and Toysrus, the only big box toy retailers in Canada, lowered their prices for the TLK toys at the same time to better fit the prices of previous lines. It is unknown if that means Hasbro is still selling them at the same unit price as previous lines or at a higher price (accounting for their higher SRP) but retailers choosing to sell for less, which is the case with deluxes in the US at the moment. We still do not know how the US SRP will be reflected in other countries who had a major price hike with the movie toys.

Also, the listings give us the SKN numbers for three different classes:

Leader: 368657
Voyager: 368655
Deluxe: 368652

This can come very handy when asking if a toy from this particular line is in stock.

Not all 12 original Pretenders will be used, only the first wave it looks like. The leaks have shown the likes of Octopunch and Bludgeon, so the smaller ones are fair game too.

Who wants more Power of the Primes in hand images? Well, the internet is bursting with them but two fans, Gallade and Anguirus have provided short pictorial reviews of Swoop and Slug respectively. What they show, which is something we did not see in today's video reviews, their limb modes. These two fans show Swoop and Slug in full on scramble city mode teamed up with Combiner Wars toys. Also, unlike the previous set of in hand images of them combined, these do not use add on kits so you can see how they look with the feet that came with the Combiner Wars figures (since the Power of the Primes feet only come with the voyagers and they aren't out yet). One other cool aspect is that we have confirmation of Titan Master ports on these toys, specifically Swoop with a fun image below.
So far these toys have been found only at Target and sightings seem to be spreading across the country. Let us know if you find one near you in our sightings section and sightings forum.

I know in my situation I'm absolutely swimming in wave 3. I have 3 stores that I frequent at least once a week, sometimes more. The Augusta, ME Walmart was nothing but case after case of wave 3 since November 2016 until a few months back when we got that wave 2 revision set with all of the Autobot Headmasters plus Blurr and Scourge. Those sold out fairly well, leaving just two Hot Rods and a Twinferno from previous stock and nothing new since because somebody decided to fill the TR Deluxe pegs with those TLK Allspark figures while leaving the pegs they're supposed to be on empty. No wave 4, 5, or 6 there or revision wave 4.

The second store is the Augusta Target which was also nothing but wave 3 until the summer when they got one case of wave 4, but all that was left was Kup, Krok, and Quake. I already had Takara Tomy's Kup on order at this point and passed on the other two thinking I'd certainly be able to get them for less at Walmart soon. If I knew then what I knew now I would have bought the both right then. After that it was right back to wave 3. No wave 5 or 6 or revision wave 4.

The third store is the Waterville Walmart which is on my way home from work so I go there the most frequently. This store didn't get anything but wave 3 from November 2016 to just a few weeks ago when they surprisingly got a wave 6 case in (and two cases of Overlord, only place I've seen him). That's how I got my Slugslinger, but the one remaining and the two Kups (wasn't interested anyway) and one Hardhead were gone in two days leaving just the two Hot Rods with what was left of the previous wave 3 case they put up. Neither version of wave 4 or wave 5 here.

Funny thing is the only figures among waves 4 and 5 that I absolutely want is Quake and Misfire (since I managed to find Krok while out of the town over the weekend, at a Target of course). The rest I have the Takara Tomy versions on order, but I wouldn't be against owning both versions of some of these if I found them. It's just that this sort of distribution gives me little faith when it comes to Power of the Primes. I also haven't seen any sign of Blitzwing, Octane, Ramhorn, Seaspray, or Cosmos. I'm sure the first three waves of PotP will be easy enough to find, but after that I'll probably be in the same situation I'm in now. CW wasn't much different, I only saw the Protectobots once at one store and never again, my first time seeing Onslaught was at T.J.Maxx, and I've never seen a Hasbro Sky Lynx in person (which was apparently common).

Ross Dress 4 Less was the only place I ever saw CW Sky Lynx in-person. So naturally, I bought one for me, and another for my bff since he had no luck hunting either.

I never saw deluxes at the discount stores -- unless you count the CW boxsets, and the Platinum Dinobots set. I don't expect to see Misfire there, but I'm still hoping he makes it to Target around Xmas.

I can't wait to see the PotP here...I gotta have Dreadwind.

Yeah, I think that was the case for most people at Ross and T.J.Maxx, unfortunately all I found there (between two stores) was all five Combaticons (already had the UW set), Scattershot (didn't want), Battle Core Optimus Prime (bought), and a single G2 Stunticon box set (bought).

Oh, I'm so glad that they made the descriptions for these powers oh so specific. Or actually doable for the actual toy. Like Amalgamous Swoop's ability to "shift to the most fearful form". So glad they're following TR's example with this. >:oP

Can't wait for this line to become more available, in all honesty, though.

So using Brickseek, I was able to track these down about half an hour away. Got Swoop and Slug after they pulled a case from the back for me. I REALLY like how Jazz looks but I can't go too crazy right now. I will get Grimlock and Rodimus ASAP.

I bought the G2 Stunticons as well! Skipped on Superion, White CW Optimus, lots of Skywarps...no luck on Fort Max, Combaticons or Computron in Oregon. I'm excited to see what's available this year....!

Thanks for showing the limb modes. I thought it was pretty half-assed to post a video review and not show the limb mode.

Don't give up hope. I found CW Wheeljack, Ironhide and Trailbreaker at 3 different TJ Maxx or Marshalls stores last year before Christmas. Perfect timing for me as I already had them all as their original characters, but toyhax came out with the X-tinguisher, Smolder and Fallen sticker sets, so my Battle Core Nova Prime (another sticker set) finally got some limbs of his own.

For TJ Maxx and Marshalls specifically, you need to look in both the toy section, as well as the aisle that leads to the checkout. I found 2 of the 3 at the aisle of the checkout instead of the toy section. Plus a few Swindles that I didn't want/need/already had.

Thank you for sharing! I had added TJ & Marshalls to the hunt last year but didn't look near checkout. Here's hoping -- HAPPY HUNTING ;)^

A pattern I've noticed in my area (though it may not apply to all)...Is that TRU seems to be a bit more reliable, however 1. Obviously they are more expensive 2. Items appear months after being found in other places. I have seen the entirety of TR appear at TRU, though they currently have most of wave 4, which appeared 4 or so months ago at several Targets & Wal Marts in my area.

I still have not seen wave 5 deluxes anywhere, but if I expect to see them anywhere at all, it will probably be at TRU between now and the end of the year. basically TRU is my one hope I'm holding out of seeing Ramhorn. I know one person found ONE at a Midwest retail chain, but the fact that Ramhorn has not appeared at any of the 3 major chains, and really isn't even on eBay aside form a couple scalpers, tell me it still hasn't been released in mass market anywhere other than in some Asian countries. Not sure about Canada...

There will be news soon :)

Yeah so did I , especially since there was so little seen of it before. Hence why I posted that news. But I know why it wasnt reviewed, it would have taken more time and the reviewer wanted it up asap , which is understandable. But whats important is that we now have everything in one way or another :)

The combiner hands don't really look like armor or guns, which just has me thinking that it's too bad the deluxe class figures can't wear them more like power fists.

Speaking of which....go check Toy Dojo's YouTube channel out, as he's currently reviewing the figures and shows them in limb mode (but don't forget to also check Chuck's out too when he has his reviews uploaded)

btw is noone holding off to get the :TAKARATOMY: versions?

Please tell me Hasbro Plans on selling sets of these cards later. I would like to get a full set, but I'm not going to randomly buy figures in hopes of getting the all.

I think I might ebay the cards I pull. That might (effectively) shave a little off the cost of collecting the figures.

I wonder if this will lead to card collectors out there selling off large numbers of out-of-package figures...

Yep, I am keeping Swoop and slag as legs. They looks good as either limb though! And Swoop is my favorite looking Dinobot at the moment.

I am gonna wait for this to come to my closer stores, I'm in no rush to start this line considering I just got slugslinger.

Also, was thinking about this, and someone mentioned it back a bit ago, but what if Takara did some sort of fancy japanese only character combiner to use some of the molds to get them released? I remember Artfire and Stepper mentioned, but who else could work to make a slapdash combiner of japanese guys? That would be awesome

San Diego folks -

Looks like Target in Santee put a case in it's system. I checked the Target DCPI number for PotP Deluxe (087-06-5863) on Brickseek this morning and saw that they had them in stock. Of course, they weren't out on the floor but politely asked if they could check the back, which showed 6 figures. The Target Team Member brought out an opened case - looked like someone asked before I did. Picked up Dreadwind but left Swoop (2), Slag (2) and Jazz (1) in the box.

Brickseek, why haven't I ever heard of this before today? Seems like a super useful site even if it isn't showing any PotP figures in my state.
