Howdy fellow Seibertronians. Following the previous in hand look at the Robots in Disguise Mini-con 4 pack we have had several retail sightings submitted this morning.

The set includes the Mini-cons:

-Blizzard Strike Swelter

EDIT: Has anyone noticed that the 4 packs appear to only come with 2 sets of energon armor?

Yeah. And I find that too bad since that energon armour is the extent of the playability they have for me (since I am not buying the deployers). Those extra energon figures were beautifully implemented last time (as well as terribly ignored by Hasbro). Does anyone know if anything extra can be made of these clear armour bits?

Optimus does not look too bad in that armor. Sideswipe looks pretty funny though. Not too bad overall though, definitely interesting

Kind of a request, as I own neither figure, are the heads of the blue Optimus and Megatronus swappable. Just could somebody humor me and check so I don't waste my money on buying both toys.

I thought I'd mention that there is a KO of RID-15 Optimus Prime's Warrior Class toy out / or due soon in China and also one of Drift both are about Voyager Size - and complement the existing Grimlock, Bumblebee & StrongArm toys.

Optimus looks like he's a good option for scale fans and has that bonus advantage of being closer to the proper size like Grimlock is too - while not being quite so huge as the Takara "Leader class" version.

The versions shown here are the ones with metal parts - but they may well make all plastic version too.

I thought this was worth mentioning where someone would be more likely to see it than tucked away in the KO forum that is so rarely visited. as it's potentially of specific interest to those likely to read this thread perhaps.

I would still not recomend that mold to anyone.

Oh there is way more than that. The feet are right there for all to see, the transformation is overly simplistic with most detail repeating from robot mode to alt mode, there is a random hole in the back that serve NO purpose, the head keeps sinking and as you said, the arms are atrocious with both the terrible shoulder articulation and the giant panels under the forearms. Seriously, I would love to see anyone argue how this is not the worse toy from the warrior class. Sideswipe has a huge flaw, but he is way more interesting than this optimus toy.

The fore arm pannels for me about 5 minute with a screw driver and some snips to fix by trimming the ridge on the ring the wheels mount onto down a little the kibble "Boxing gloves" can then rotate back allowing things to plug all the way through his hands.

I have no objection to the shoulders of the gap in the back of vehicle mode, I don't notice either in general play.

As for the head dipping down - did you grab it and pull it upwards as it has to "click" into place to stay put properly.

Anyway Warrior Optimus is a perfectly respectable toy by comparison to say Sideswipe. I'm definitely going to get the Oversize Optimus & Drift soon as I can locate a less expensive source for them.

The only slight objection I do have to Optimus is it's not an easy fix to fix the miss-assembly error on his legs.

As you will see below, Overload boasts a rather unique and interesting transformation for a tank-based Transformer. Below we've mirrored several of the highlights from the gallery:

I had high hopes for Overlord, oh well. I still like his lil buddy though. I hope they release at least one version of the round minicon as a single pack.

Hopefully he'll be in a non-deployer figure (such as how Fracture was re-done). I'd get him then.

I think they are. You could always get a Battle Pack, a cool ball bot, and a super sweet Commander Class figure to PARTY YOUR DASHBOARD!

I had high hopes for Overload, oh well.

His character design is so cool, I wanted to like the toy. Maybe, like Fracture, we'll get a cool Warrior.

I think you already talked me into the OP battle pack. Bludgeon is a cool minicon, but the lil round minicon I want is different than those. I want the one that looks like the ones that Micronus Prime sent after Optimus when he was training with King Kai.

So far that mold only comes in a 4 pack and with Overlord.

Fracture set the bar pretty high, so one can only hope. I like his spartan look.

Overload reminds me of Magnus a bit and yes i'm aware of Armada Overload is sometimes compared to Ultra Magnus.

as for the mini-cons, i'm thinking... Bakugan.

Overload and Blizzard Drift popped into stock at HTS and Entertainment Earth back at the beginning of December.

Picked up Overload, and man is he sweet. Excellent transformation, excellent gimmick, striking deco, cool battle mask, and unique articulation for a Deployer.

Honestly one of my top figures of the year in any category.

The treads are badass. I was hoping for more arm articulation. Overlord does have a very cool silhouette. I'll probably get him and deployer Drift if I find a good sale just for the minicons.

Hoping for a warrior Overlord though. Maybe some of that Fracture lightning will strike twice.

There is one added factor to him being better than the other two deployers: the minicons he propels roll. That makes a huge difference for me since it adds a beautiful element of playability where the minicon covers a much greater distance. It would be like in the Star Wars Prequels where those all droids would roll around and transform to shoot at the jedi.

I might actually get this one if the price becomes right.

Just wait for the amount of people saying oh hasbro is copying bakugun XD and funny thing this isn't the first time transformers turned into spheres that weren't planets XD

Oh its already beating a dead horse at this point.

And anyway, transforming toys as a concept arent Hasbro's invention either.

I like the Beast Wars Eggs Beasts and Kissplayers Sparkbots better as they at least retained some modest Articulation - not a lot but some.

The idea would appeal to me more if they didn't semi-automatically Transform.
The giftset does show they do look a bit more appealing with some paint on them though.

I suppose they might be considered to be on a par with Prime Microns (kits) and they also had a lack of decoration and didn't do much.

But Arms Microns at least can be "useful" I play with mine almost every day - more than I do Minicons for sure.

Me too, but I think its because the alt modes of the microns can be used by themselves too. The alt modes of these minicons only serves the deployer gimick.

That's soon to change if the line gradually shifts towards the 'weaponized' one's

Glad to see some positive reactions about Overload. And an in hand report. What scares me away is that in that review, his firing gimmick didn't work. If that's the case, what's the point? I wish it worked in bot mode also. I could live with the hollowness, if I was guaranteed the firing mechanism worked. Who knows, if he hits a nice sale, I'm sure I'll crumple. I have an addiction and I'm aware of it.

Maybe Baltmatrix got a bum copy, because mine works just fine.

The arms being hollow is pretty inexcusable, but I can speak to the hollowness of Overload from the back. His launcher is engineered to use a Minicon as a 'backpack'. If you can go along with that idea then he's pretty cool. Back's Energon weapons end up being over the shoulder guns when he's sitting in the clip.

You can also leave the Minicon in during transformation.

His shoulders also on both a ball joint and a forward hinge which adds a lot of expressiveness

I thought the blue Drift was going be Blurr. I guess that was just speculation.

The waves are so confusing. I'm on the fence about Taks Megs. He's just so shiny and painty!

RID isn't shelf warming in my area. The few that are still on pegs are the later releases like Me and Drift. You'd be hard pressed to find wave one down here.

The RID pegs are pretty empty in general (1 or 2 figs at best). Only the CW pegs are emptier.

It'll be nice to see this varied of an assortment.

Well we know its not fur us, its for kids. And having a bee in the waves is always good. That toy sells out in my neck of the woods. Its like making sue you have a Batman toy in your line up of DC figures. And sideswipe is another kid favourite and steeljaw is the main nemesis (screen time wise). So it makes sense.

You are thinking small scale. Hasbro lives on the fact that there are new 5 year olds every year. New kids get into this program or will see it on some media or will get the dvds. There re new fans all the time adn when they walk into a store, Hasbro wants them looking at these toys. An most kids only have a few characters, they dont collect whole casts. They will likly have some heros and the main villain. Villains have proven not to sell. Your lucky this wave doesnt look like every single Batman associated line I have ever seen:

Yeah I know, same goes for Lego City doing a police and fire line each year, but my point still stands that they could have packaged 2 of each new mold for the first run, then filled it out with the recolors and older figs; if hasbro is going to crap out new figures for this line 1 or 2 at a time, they could at least pack cases with enough for everyone to get them. Because, for every person that gets the new figures 6+ old ones/recolors are left on shelves or in warehouses, compound this with every person who wants them: kids + collectors = either a lot of people missing out or a lot of leftover shelf warming stuff;

Not saying you're wrong, just upset that hasbro is still making it difficult to get the cool new villains they bothered to create in the first place

But thats what is beautiful about this wave approach. Anyone who missed out on Megatronus in wave 5 can get him in wave 6 and it alternates like that.

Yeah, that's good and I hope something similar happens to Thunderhoof and peter quill - but it didn't for fracture, so maybe he'll be in wave 7; I was referring more to the really old figures; still got shelves of sideswipe, steeljaw, strongarm, and jazz

I'm sure the new figures will be scalped quite nicely

There's me Thunderhoof and Quillfire! Dunno why everyone seems to want to go visit the penguins, but they all seem to like arctic weather!
