Something rather interesting in the Rise of the Beasts line is how it offers alternatives to the Studio Series line, or vice versa, since all toys are coming out all at once, unlike what was originally planned.
For those curious, we have review for the deluxe Bumblebee which is available in a Target exclusive 3 pack and sold on its own. We also have comparison images between that Bumblebee and the SS 100 ROTB Bumblebee, its counterpart in the Studio Series line. Knowing that both are available individually, which you do you prefer and which would you go for?
We thank Chuckdawg 1999 and Whirlkick for the images and reviews. Chuckdawg's review of Bumblebee also looks at the Flex Changers which was released in the US along with the initial wave of ROTB toys.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Here's a unique look at the Japanese releases of the Flex Changers and Deluxe Class Bumblebee. These are exactly the same as the US releases but with stickers on the packaging for the Japanese market. What is different is the price, both figures shipped cost less than what Deluxe Bumblebee goes for on eBay. Flex Changers Bumblebee is really fun and is the definition of a desk toy. Deluxe Bumblebee, unfortunately, doesn't live up to my expectations and doesn't feel fun in my hands, stick with the Studio Series version.

But the fact that both the SS and main line Bees have a vehicle m9de tha5 are the same size, but the main line Bee is 1.5 times BIGGER than the SS one is pretty impressive.
I may be more interested in getting the main Bee than the SS one. The SS already have some undercarriage in vehicle mode with h8s arms anyway. So might as well get a "proper" deluxe rather than a scout pretending to be a deluxe.

Question, will all the movie characters get this "Generations" like mainline release next to the Studio Series?
I noticed Studio Series is overly complicated in transformation and is flimsy, loose torso's and panels that will not peg into place.
I like my bots a little less academic, if the screen accuracy suffers a little because of it no problem. Not going as far as Energon Igniters or Fast Action Battlers, that's way overdoing it + those lines only had 1 scale for all the characters (Bumblebee as big as Constructicon Longhaul etc.).
27 April Trailer 2 guys!

So far, only the and will have mainline "normal" figure, and Nightbird who is the only villain.
I would have loved to see what a "voyager" Scourge would have been?

I'm honestly surprised we aren't seeing more missing heads in the line so far. Heck, I've knocked off Battle Master Cheetor's feet enough times that I wouldn't be surprised if they just fell off and out of the package on their own.

Yep, and it's affecting other lines too. There was an Across the Spiderverse Spider-Punk figure without a head there too.
Also, who just walks by and rips off a window from Prime. Or did it fall off in transit somewhere?

I'd say so, I once saw a Cyberverse 3-pack at Target with Deluxe Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Cheetor... with the cheetah head popped off. Thankfully the head was still in the box so I popped it back on, just 'cause. Didn't get the set tho...

At least the head was still in the box. Nice of you to pop it back on.

Man, that trailer really did turn on my desire to own so much RotB stuff.
Anyways, have some pictures of some fun RotB toys.

That Optimus Primal is great for what he is. for $17 you get a deluxe figure with what used to be stardard articulation, back when deluxes were $17 plus you get a targetmaster animal. It's good value.
I also bought the voyager Optimus Primal and while obviously that one is better for a movie primal, I really don't feel I am getting as much with how much more it is. It isn't all that more complex. I would have liked if they at least made voyager primal able to be upright in gorilla mode as we see in the trailers since that would highlight the different chest detail, which is the only highlight of the transformation.

Funny how you are waiting for a sale while the market price for this guy is more than double. Primal is even worse. Very surprised by all this.

I'm not.
It's the "early bird scalper" syndrome as usual.
Sooner or later, those will be all over the place like a Plague of Egypt.
I'll wait.

Yeah and Prime is even repacked in wave 2. I didn't think this early bird thing would affect the main line.

What is it then, bubble gum?
Anyway, based on all the rubber bands I used in my life, sooner or later those things "dry out" and snap.

I haven't touched these but I would imagine just soft plastic or maybe nylon like those clear bands.

This is where you should watch reviews or, you know, actually handle them in store I can confirm that it's actually hard plastic, but flexible enough for the toys to work. From what I can tell it's a new type of polymer, and I wouldn't be surprised if its main application would be in kitchen utensils like tongs.

Of course, not all collectors, and that's where the heat is coming from. Unlike the Rise of the Beasts figures released in the Studio Series line, the mainline toys are not widely available in online collector shops across the world, and not all are on various national Amazon sites either. So, believe it or not, that voyager Optimus and Optimus Primal you may see in your local Walmart are highly coveted, since there is no way but through brick and mortar retail to get them. And we all know how that type of distribution can turn out.
Due to this, both are selling for over MSRP online right now, with Optimus Primal selling for double his price due to being shortpacked. These were both toys which fans laughed out of the room due to lackluster paint jobs and poor sizes. As valid as those points may be, this comes to show that you never know how lucky you may be to have a toy available and you never know what can become a hot commodity in this hobby.
You can see some sold e-bay listings here and in the image below.

Here they both are with the most relevant comparisons in my collection. For $14 bucks it's really not a bad deal, and the little weaponizers can go with other stuff thanks to 5 mm pegs

14$ only? That's even better, I thought they were 17
and yeah, the weaponizers are my pick too for most well executed gimmicky toys in the line.

Seriously? That's what bothers you? How about the Headmasters? You are decapitated and your head is replaced by a parasitic alien organism but instead of dying, your consciousness survives sharing what used to be your mind with the parasite's mind.
That's nightmare fuel right there.

There's two versions of headmasters. There's that one (and how does it really work?). I wonder if the headless body can act on its own is that's the case?
I much prefer the transtecktor version, where the headmaster is basically just a mecha pilot.

It's a (Target exclusive) retool of SS38 so it should be a really good figure.

Just an FYI, ROTB Primal is not a reskin of the Kingdom figure, it's a fully new toy.
