Fellow Seibertronian Madeus Prime has shared with us a review by YouTuber MightMouse74 of the first instance we've come across of the major antagonist in the Transformers: Robots in Disguise animated series, making their debut in the season finale: Megatronus! The figure is a five-step changer, Toys'R'Us Exclusive and part of the Clash of the Transformers subline, and can be seen in the embedded clip below.

BTW,I wonder whether this is mistransformed.Hopefully it is.

I find fake rake worse than fake windows for this particular toy. I find a Fake rake undermines the creativity of the character's design.

Yeah I pondered it but then remembered that they probably don't actually have it, just the listing, and I'd end up getting another Bumblebee or something.

3-step Thunderhoof again hits my sweet spot. First Optimus, now this guy... Well... Guess I gotta hunt this guy down when he shows up.

They have done that in the past, though not with RiD toys specifically, but that is enough for me to avoid it :)

Also a sign this is a premature listing: the scan code on him is not recognized by the app.

Well that is an odd thing that I didnt mention in the article: this 3 step Thunderhoof wasn't/isn't in the app. I believe that is the very first revealed RID toy since the app came live that didnt first appear there (which makes sense since the whole deal is that every toy would be scan-able). He also wasnt on any preorder listings. He really is out of the blue.

This happened to me. Not with this toy but during HFTD. Basically they have the store staff filling orders and they just grab whatever is on the shelf. Customer Service is a pain too.

I had a similar experience trying to order Generations figures on their website in 2011. They basically tried to fill my order with shelf warming figures at the time. Thankfully I was able to get a full refund. However, I will still find my way to the actual brick and mortar stores to try my luck at what I may find.

Man, US distribution on this stuff is just not like it is elsewhere. We get no Kre-o (aside from a trickle into discount women's clothing stores), no sign of the TRU exclusives yet, no deployers yet, one wave behind the UK on Warriors, and barely any Minicons out and about. They should rename the line "Transformers: Hey US fans, this is what we always put the UK fans through. Fun, right?"

Yeah, especially since they spent some extra dollars (quite a bit I would assume) on retooling the 3 steps. That feels like such a waste to me. I dont mind 3 steps, but I dont feel the target audience would take notice of these changes.

We can only hope that Takara makes proper versions of Bee/Swipe/Strongarm with their Supreme Mode and Battle Mode figures in the Adventure line.

But dont we already know that they are just using the sideswipe and bumblebee Hasbro toys for those? Or do you suppose they will make another attempt at the concept?

We know they're releasing the Hasbro versions for the Japanese release of "Clash of the Transformers", but the Supreme Mode and Battle Mode toys are something else in the main TAV line. For instance, Optimus we know is getting a retool of his large figure to resemble his finale upgrade, which is a separate release of the smaller CotTFs Warrior figure. So Japan is getting what the West is getting plus their own stuff that we're not getting.

Howdy fellow Seibertronians! Robots in Disguise Three-Step Changers Sideswipe has been spotted at Target in Baton Rouge, LA by yours truly. This particular Target seems to be a hotbed for RID sightings. Sideswipe, like others in the Three-Step Changers series was tagged and verified at $19.99 USD.

I did try and push it back up, but it wouldn't go. I didn't know it was an epidemic, I just assumed it was just a bum figure. Probably safe to assume Sideswipe is just perpetually down in the dumps then.

For that one fan out there who isn't tired of more news on the Three Step Changers, here is something for you. While he was first seen at SDCC 2015, we now have the official images for Transformers Robots in Disguise Three Step Changer Night Ops Bumblebee. He is a redeco of the original three step changer and not of the retooled Clash of the Transformers version.

This come from Entertainment Earth.

Same, its pretty terrible. However, his arms are stopped by his chest unless you do it on purpose to pull them out. So not the intended peg, but he can still do some neat poses.

Quillfire, Megatronus and Thunderfoot were found in store listings. And Hasbro did say that other decepticons will be released in the warrior class and I will be waiting for those. I dont think we risk the other stuff selling out while awaiting confirmation.

Haha, nice :) You know, we joke around about this product line but it is selling quite well everywhere I go. And I havent even contributed to it since I buy the Takara versions instead. There are very few wave 1 and 2 warriors left anywhere, and the toysrus I took those COTF redecos from only has those redecos for the most part, which is technically the latest ones to come out.

Sadly, there is no estimated release date. Hasbro even said we have seen all that is coming out this year for the line so it might have to wait about 4 months (since the first RID toys last year came out before christmas).

I can back that up. I've been rounding out my warriors and some of them wave 1's are getting pretty scarce. I have been seeing a lot of Jazz and Sideswipe at retail though. So, I guess that is good. Now bring on them warrior 'Cons!
Re: Video Review - Transformers Robots in Disguise Mega Five-Step Megatronus (1714426)

Hey Carytheone, I was gonna give you some proof to back up our statements and while I do have it, something interesting came up. So Walmart has more Combiner Wars deluxes than RID Warrior figures:

Image

BUT Toysrus now has that RID Clash of the Transformers promotion with the exclusives, so there is not one single combiner wars deluxe left and instead it is all exclusive figures as far as the eye can see, check it out.

Toysrus appears to be pretty confident in their alliance with the Robots in Disguise line. Not only do they have exclusives in the Legends, Warrior, 3 Step and Ultra classes but these exclusives are worldwide, including Japan's Toysrus stores, where those same exclusive figures are distributed by Takara. An exclusive sublne this wide is unprecedented. While this subline is not found in the US yet, it is very prominent in Canada, with Toysrus displaying the subline and line as a whole in prominence. Below are pictures of this display and you can get some in hand images of the exclusive Warrior Class Optimus Prime and Sideswipe here. Toysrus appears to be calling this marketting oush "Autobot August"! The promotion has nothing to do with discounted prices though.

The other sides of the display area had other Robots in Disguise products.

And the Transformers aisle had those Toysrus Exclusives as far as the eye could see.

Nope. Same old wave 1 or 2 without any voyagers or the scouts that matter, meaning Grooves and Blackjack.
