In further Hasbro Transformers Generations news today, we bring you another video review from Seibertron.com board member chuckdawg1999, this time talking us through a Legends figure: Gears and Targetmaster Eclipse! The little guy is a repaint of the Swerve mold, with new headsculpt, while the partner's a simple redeco of Flanker. Check out the embedded clip below!

One of the fun things with the Generation line is seeing how repaints/remolds can get turned around. Case it point, way back when Gears was the original figure while Swerve was the remold. 30 years later with Swerve being a more popular character we see Gears as a repaint of that Legends figure. Surprisingly the joints are a little bit tighter so take care moving them around, other than that this is a fine figure worthy of your collection.

Eclipse is a repaint of Swerve partner, Flanker, not Payload. He is supposed to represent G1 Eagle Eye. No switching partners yet here like with Cliffjumper and Nemesis Prime.

Any time :PEACE:

Swerve and Gears are required purchases for me. I just hope I can find the latter when moving.

He's not part of the "list of 30 randomly picked exclusives and special releases". "Thrilling 30" refers to the line of the year as a whole.

Mmm-mm. Nope. That's the ugliest repaint I've seen in a long time. Swerve doesn't deserve this kind of atrocity for a legacy.

I think the head missing its red paint stripes and outside/top hurts the look. Makes him look like Brawn.

If those were applied and the area surrounding the head were simply blue, I think it would resemble the original character a lot more.

Saying this for customizers out there... and because I plan to paint mine this way.

I don't "think" Gears is identifying himself as female in the comics... unless there's something I've missed recently (???).

I'm all for Gears, and I'm all for Chromia. Shame she doesn't have the smoky orange canopy that she was first shown with, but it's not an issue.

Now I shall wait impatiently for these and their wave-mates to appear in retailers near me.

Ignoring the horrendous mistransformation, this looks pretty great. Amazed they could take the PRID Arcee mold and completely change it like that.

I also like how they made the wheel struts out of clear plastic to make them look like they're not actually connected, but rather sort of "float" in place. Really adds to the whole lightcycle thing. I am worried about them breaking, though. Clear plastic can be a bitch.

I really like her, the colors pop. I could do without the Arcee attempt, but its good stuff nonetheless.

chromia's got "afterburner remold" stamped all over her.

its just so close its unreal.

really like the look of her too but odds are like most TF stuff no it wont hit the shelves in ireland.

we get nothing nowadays, ya shoulda seen the AOE stuff. nothing past the flip and change stuff as generations and stuff like thats been kept to UK retailers.

still i like her enough to maybe buy on line but the postal charges put ya off.

well see.

That's the thing. In the third issue Windblade made a point to mention that Camians don't like using firearms because missing might result in unnecessary damage or destruction.

You might have seen Blurr shoot. He and Chromia look really close in that series.

more specifically because they live/lived in a titan. so it would be like firing a bullet in a submarine. if you miss you either hit something important or open a hole in the hull.

Also a good point.

To be frank, I just like the halberd. To me, melee weapons can convey a lot more personality and uniqueness than guns can.

I have to agree. I think it would have been a simple enough thing to have re-cast Orion Pax's weapon in translucent blue. It'd save on the cost of molding a new weapon, and it'd be reasonably close to Chromia's weapon in the Windblade mini. Now though, I'm already figuring if there's a way to detach the backpack to turn it into her shield.

yeah, i've said that before too. i don't understand it.. it SERIOUSLY hinders any discussion on any of these stories.. all of these are lumped together and all of the movie toys discussions are lumped together. it's one of the reasons i rarely ever comment on anything.

Amazon update; ohmagod these prices. Also these descriptions are dorky as all hell XD

Image
Arcee is one of the most dangerous Autobots, despite her comparatively small size. She believes the Decepticons must be stopped at all costs. That belief, combined with her combat training, makes her a pure warrior, a hunter who mixes speed and sudden action to strike Decepticon targets whenever she can. Convert, arm and attack with all the Transformers action you can handle! This Arcee figure is a hardcore warrior in robot mode, and she carries a sword in one hand and a blaster in the other for battle against Decepticon foes. When she needs to chase down the foe, she can convert to Cybertronian Cruiser mode! Whatever mode your Arcee figure is in, her enemies will think twice before taking her on! Transformers and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro.

Image
Bring home Windblade's bodyguard with Transformers Generations Deluxe Chromia. The blue motorbike can change from a Cybertronian warrior to an Autobot vehicle in no time, and comes armed with twin pistols for Decepticon-fighting fun!

Image
She's the first fan-designed robot! Transformers Generations Deluxe Windblade is a servant to Caminus, Cityspeaker of Metroplex on Cybertron, and the first Transformer that Hasbro let fans design. Along with their own artists, Hasbro let fans pick her vehicle mode, faction, personality, alt mode, weapons, and more - and today, we've got an awesome Kabuki-inspired defender of what's right! With her bodyguard Chromia, she's ready to make Cybertron a better place for everyone... assuming Starscream doesn't stop her! This VTOL jet can change to a robot, and is armed with a swell purple sword - and a a scabbard, to boot!

Image
He's a genius! Transformers Generations Voyager Brainstorm can invent ennui guns and mystery briefcases, all while flying around the galaxy and changing shape. This Headmaster has a tiny robot which changes into a head, and he can also fit inside the cockpit of Brainstorm's vehicle mode. Bring this Autobot weapons designer home tod

We posted the official Seibertron.com gallery of Transformers Generations Legends Acid Storm and Venin not too long ago, but you might want to take a look at the figure 'in motion' - look no further, as fellow board member chuckdawg1999 offers a video review of the Starscream and Waspinator repaint set, embedded below!

I'll keep this brief, Venin isn't that great and rather floppy. Acid Storm is gold. Great mold, fantastic colors, why aren't you ordering this figure now?

The official Takara Tomy Transformers Legends (AKA Generations)website has updated their figures page to introduce their upcoming releases of Voyager Class Brainstorm and Legends Class Swerve and Tailgate. No full size images are available at this time, but the thumbnails should be more than enough to keep us wanting more.

Swerve and Tailgate both have considerably darker decos in contrast to Hasbro's versions. There are also additional paint apps and tampographed sigils that the US versions do not feature. Not to be left out, Brainstorm sports a far more detailed deco, compared to the US version. Bringing out details not covered by Hasbro's current offering.

We've mirrored the thumbnails below:

His backpack, which controls the gun transformation, is very loose causing nothing to line up right and the plastic, which was soft to begin with, is really soft now.

ah. I keep forgetting how wiggly that backpack rig is. It makes for a really cool gun, but it's a far cry from a stable structure for reliable reproduction. I think blazemaster is my current personal fave (I haven't got swerve or cosmos yet, so I don't have those two to compare.) but I am a bit sad this targetmaster didn't work out. also wish hasbro would use these little gimmicks more or I lived in japan, because I'm a sucker for targetmasters and arms microns

Now those are definitely the stuff of TakaraTomy! Guess all the pics we saw of them previously really were just stock photos of the Hasbro versions.

However, these new decos strive for toy-accuracy, making them less fiction-accurate than the Hasbro versions.

Thank you for that comparison! That's enough to make me preorder from HLJ instead of the Hasbro version. So much more detail, and not that much more expensive. The designer really outdid previous releases with this. I daresay it's even better than the various 3rd Party efforts out there. Sometimes it pays to be patient. :D
