Until we see the instructions, we wont know what the proper way to transform it is. Maybe its this way. Looks better to me, I look forward to knowing if takara fixes it or if there is a fix or some way to make it more stable.
D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Oh for goodness sakes, before we even try to do a Liokaiser, can we at least get proper technobots? And why hasbro would release a japanese only show combiner I have no clue. If it looks good that'd be nice, but some of these choices just don't sound right, and all things considered, I'd hope they would not do him and instead wait.
If this is true, then it is further evidence that we wont be getting any good technobots. Both Liokaiser and Computron share a very similar looking drill vehicle limb. They could have done a new drill mold and recoloured it for each combiner. I wouldnt have minded that since both are pretty much a very similar alt mode. But now its just all Tanks? So then there is even less reason for there to be a decent nosecone mold out there. Its all disappointing on many levels.

I addressed the Jallguar thing above so I won't talk about that again but honestly the Griffin never made sense to me. First of all skylynx looks NOTHING like the griffin, they would have to do quite a bit of remolding for that to work. Also he's not really a character. If I remember right he's just a drone with no name and was in 1 maybe 2 episodes of the show and that's it. At least Deathsaurus' dragon mode, while not perfect, looks a bit like skylynx. There's no perfect solution to this by any means.
Sky Lynx looks nothing like Deathsaurus. And maybe the Griffin was a drone. So what? G1 Fort Max was basically a drone piloted by Cerebros, who himself was piloted by someone else. Inception!

If you watch optibotimus' second video, you'll see that the 'proper way' has paint on it, and the method in the photo will reveal copyright info - or something of the like - on the toy; don't get me wrong, I want this fixed more than you do, but I just don't really see that happening. I mean, how many variants of blitzwing did we get? 5 I think; None of them were fixed and that was as blatant an issue as brawls is.

Well no, the cw version has painted details showing you which is the proper side, besides, the front that's showing in the pic there, is where has/tak are putting the trademark info...
Maybe that's the mistake. They put the trademark info on the wrong side.

I kind of want the Griffin, if only so the combiner can be called "Purple Reign".

Both backpacks were so incredibly involved, they may have put more effort into those two parts alone than all of motormaster
The backpacks alone are worthy of praise. Both molds handled that amazingly

But they also put the painted detail on the other side though, indicating that should be the correct way. instead with this way the paint detail is tucked up under the body

I did and all I saw was a guy repeating what he said the first time. This past week I have written not one but 2 articles which were about correcting an oversight from multiple reviewers. Hotspot's knees and Magnus' gun holding also had people claiming there was a flaw present when it wasnt as bad as they thought. I am not saying Optibotimus was wrong, but I wont fault anything until I have it in my hands and can see it for myself along with the instructions. I have been amazed at what the tf community as a collective could find in terms of fixes. And while Takara rarely makes this big a change to a mold, if it is indeed this bad, the jury is not yet out of how they will handle Brawl.

I was wondering if someone was going to point this out. It seems just like yesterday when this thread hit 300 pages. I think the toy haul thread just hit 500 pages as well.Cobotron wrote: 500 pages of Combiner Wars ramblings y'all!! Woot Woot!
Back on topic, dat Swindle shall be mine. I'll probably nab Brawl even with the back problems. Still not sure about the rest of the Combaticast though. Back off topic: I think the RID minicon invasion my have my pocket book held for ransom at this point.

Funny thing about Onslaught is: he (as Bruticus) has Visible head syndrome, but it is so cool! All you see of the head is the Bruticus mohawk, and it is an awesome feature sitting there in the middle of the turret. I think he would make a fine addition to the collection

Because Defensor needs someone to fight, and since him and Bruticus were pretty much as close as you could get to mortal enemies and polar opposites. That's why.

But seriously, Hasbro, would it have killed you to do Ruination instead?
Not having an obvious recolor for Shockwave built in isn't an acceptable excuse. Use Energon Six Shot, or just make someone up (wouldn't be the first time).

He's not doing it for me neither actually. They say the truck mode is supposed to be facing a certain way but it looks like 2 ends to me and I dont really know what I am looking at. And the robot mode looks like a redeco's hotspot in robot mode, especially the leg area with the light bar still there. But looking at the g1 toy and cartoon model he looks pretty good and on point. I just preffer the swat team onslaught we got in the universe line and as someone says, that is all personal preference.

Not overly relevant, but i thought they were cool and I just did these this evening, so enjoy!
PS: Sorry chuck, I was just going off one review. Hopefully this is something that was just a one-off error.

But the thing is: some of us don't buy third party nor can we afford it. Some of it is very cool yes, but we cannot possibly afford it. Plus for all we know it is ok and there is no need for the fix, as Chuck stated

Personally, I think that Brawl looks okay; it's just that he doesn't hold together that way as far as we know. That's glaring even by Hasbro standards.
Thing is, I seem to recall reading that Brawl was done by the Takara design team, which makes this even crazier.
If that's true though, there'd better be a running change within wave 5. It'd be really F-ed up if Takara dicked up the design, then didn't fix it until the exclusive foreign box set.

That doesn't really seem like something they'd do, on the other hand, I can't understand how this glaring oversight escaped two design teams

I'm on the fence about Onslaught. He was the only G1 Combaticon I had though. Something about him isn't doing it for me, but Bruticus looks totally boss. #thestruggle
This is his cartoon model, and like those of the other Combaticons, it's a very made up design when compared to the toy:

lol, did they copy/paste the legs on him, how could he have wheels on the same side of each leg, it doesn't work like that

They appear correct when seen from behind, though.Hellscream9999 wrote:lol, did they copy/paste the legs on him, how could he have wheels on the same side of each leg, it doesn't work like that

So, yeah, they did, I guess
Boy, that's an awkward oversight on the official show art model, or whatever

Oh, well, that never happened in the show...

That's actually pretty astonishing considering the magnitude of animation errors that happened throughout that show

Not sure if I was misunderstood. I was just being sarcastic, especially since just a couple of days ago we got animation stills of Bruticus beside himself....
In all seriousness, this wouldn't surprise me. The cartoons really just made the toys look cool for us kids in the 80s so we would bug our parents to get them for us. At least that's what I did...

The shows were kinda dumb, otherwise, I would go back and re-watch them to find out

My Superion still does not have an opponent, and I just added a member. I decided with Hasbro's recent coupon code to get Blades as the opposite limb to Alpha Bravo. Looks amazing. I'll will eventually share pics of my Superion in all of his configurations. I just haven't taken the pics yet.
I wish Devastator wasn't so big. Six large deluxe class figures would have worked much better and as I had Superion and Devastator as a kid that would have made me very happy. If I can take advantage of this or a later sale I might still get the big guy.
I wish Hasbro was also planning on releasing a Decepticon version of Victorion with a good paint scheme. Even an alternate Autobot version would be fine since I could use Reprlabels to change the faction. We just don't have good Decepticon combiners, so I have no war.
I had Scattershot as a kid, and he would be an instant buy as another torso option if he was retooled correctly, but this lazy too red version of Superion may as well be called Inferion. Why couldn't Hasbro have pulled a Cyclonus with the retool?
I so want RID Optimus Prime/Omega Prime from Hot Spot, but my gut tells me that will eventually be some sort of very expensive exclusive. Great for everyone who can afford those, I hope when they make it they do the character justice with the anime redesigned Optimus Prime head and the unique Super Mode/Omega Prime head. If Hot Spot goes on a great sale I might cave since I did play with him at a neighbor's house way back when.
However my plan is to stick with flying vehicles for my Autobot combiner, so maybe I'll get Sky Lynx if the torso mode works. The same neighbor had him, too, so both have a significant nostalgia factor for me.
I won't go into my disappointments for the upcoming line here, but I am looking forward to Galvatron and the eventual Astrotrain. I'm just mentioning them because I have to plan my budget for next year and I don't want to blow it now.
On a side note, can someone provide a pic showing how a CW gestalt scales with a supreme class figure like Cybertron Starscream?
It would be really nice if the new Titan Wars line had a Decepticon that could go toe-to-toe with an Autobot CW gestalt. Overloard would be a good option. I doubt Hasbro thinks like that, though.

Gotta say, I agree with optibotimus. Brawl is a huge disappointment. The rest are cool, swindle being the best. Also, I've taken to calling "Blast-off" "Blast-away" in hopes that takara does a shuttle version and it sees a wider releases through Hasbro maybe.

That's funny. I just rewatched then and found them to be even smarter than I remembered as a kid. I mean, they aren't Shakespeare, but compared with today's attempts at animation directed only to little kids (i.e. Not adults) they were pretty good.
