I had to dig out my weapons for the Aerialbots. I was mistaken in the video, they are reused weapons. Sorry for the confusion

Actually, it IS new. It has a hole on the bottom of the foot, used to plug in to the top of Brawl. You can clearly see there is a peg to flip up from the back of the turret that the foot can plug into like the one on top of Rook.
Also, I am in utter disbelief that the torso would not lock into place. It looked like it wasn;t clicked back far enough.

We were talking about the Blastoff review, and just the gun, not the hand/foot gun (even though for Blastoff they are both the same)

I had heard the rumor that one of the reasons deluxe Groove was out of Hasbro's hands was that it incorporated clear plastic, putting it out of the standard deluxe price point. Don't know if The true or how much clear plastic offsets the cost, just what I remember hearing.
Believe me, I hope that doesn't end up being the case. When this same year they distributed two exclusives through online retailers fairly successfully, I find it hard to believe that they could find a way to get these two out.
It'd be one thing if it was just a Japanese exclusive, but a group-only mall exclusive? THAT'S low.
Id be fine for it to be painted opaque plastic. I'd prefer clear but whatever it takes to get the mold.
If it cost more to produce, I'd be willing pay more the difference for that sweet mold, but how much? $2-3 more at the most seems fair. Any other thoughts on the offset production cost for that extra piece adds?
And isn't there a few other extra transparent lights on the tail end?
Edit to fix and say...
Well, part of his guns. Not exactly sure what's going on there.

Yeah, it ain't rocket science, just mold the parts in white plastic. It can be that simple, anything else is hasbro just being stingy

It would still be an extra assembly step though. Question I'm wondering is: if deluxe Groove is released separately, how much are you willing to pay for extra engineering (if that is the case here)? I'm thinking 18-20$; it's a pretty dope mold and I loves me some motoslickle robits.

I was able to get free shipping for QS and BN via Amazon when those first went live.

I paid more for both of them but it was worth it to me. I'm more interested with actually being able to get them without buying a whole set

Blast off makes a lot of sense as a jet. The space shuttle was just too dang big of an alt mode.
There's supposed to be a military type Spaceshuttle that isn't the size of the default "Astrotrain" type. And if you follow the original show, Blastoff never served to transport the Combaticons. He just pulled the asteroid they were exiled to remember? Now if he was a mass shifter like Astrotrain, he would have had got his buddies in him.
So the oversized Blastoff argument does not hold water.
Well, there was that ONE time...
Then again, that scene also has all the Combaticons AND Bruticus in the same shot, so I guess we'll call it a wash.
Basically, it depends on how much you're willing to spend on a (rumored) shuttle, as opposed to the more widely available jet. I'll be happy with the domestic release.
WAIT, is that a little Bruticus??? Who is that little Bruticus bot running alongside the other Combaticons???

Good old G1 animation errors. That's Bruticus (probably intended to be Onslaught) along with Swindle and Brawl (Bruticus's legs) running into a giant Blast Off (probably meant to be Astrotrain), who is Bruticus's arm. Don't think too much about it, it happened a lot. The G1 cartoon is notorious for these mistakes.

One thing though, seeing that waist issue I really hope we do not get that Ramhorn retool as Nosecone. Not only would it be a pathetically small nosecone but I would want to avoid that waist as much as possible.

I don't know, I feel like he wasn't doing something right in the transformation. That little clip on the waist should tab into SOMETHING I don't think they'd put it on there just for fun.

Very true, but at the same time there could be another issue there that we cannot see or that Opt may be having issues with. The waist could be good for all we know, it's just this figure had issues or there is extra fiddling needed that he just didn't fenangle right

Yes, I consider them G1, though I feel the Arialbots and Protectobots are more representations of them in the show while the stunticons are more using the neo classic aesthetic of not respecting alt modes and making them more contemporary.

I'd say so. I mean, wasn't that the point of these guys? They're as G1 as possible (within the confines of hasbro's set guidelines for developing these figures) while updating every aspect of them.

I have to second this. Are we absolutely sure that it doesn't accordion in? It really looks like it should...

Well, yes, of course they are designed after the original G1 characters. Some of the CW line does tilt more towards the current IDW comics. I'm not a comic or G1 historian so I'm not sure if there is a line or where it's drawn, when something technically stops being "G1".
But the way you worded the question
Leaves it pretty opened ended. Would I consider them toys of G1 characters. Well yes, but so are my Loyal Subject figures. An Optimus Prime plush would be a toy of a G1 character. What I mean is, if a casual fan asks you, "do you have any toys of G1 characters?"
To the best of my limited TF knowledge the CW toys are based on the current comics that are based on the "G1" stories (comics and TV?).
So Rodster, what are your driving at here? I feel there is more to this discussion than meets the eys...
Posted by Cobotron on November 16th, 2015 @ 7:32pm CST
I feel like CW is right in line with what started with Classics. Some call it updated, or neo, or re-imagined. There is no doubt that CW is heavily G1 based in design. Leaning hard on IDW aesthetic for some characters and defaulting to the G1 toys for others.
I would like to hear more about what you are getting at Rodders.

I consider them G1. If things were the exact same as G1 then we would get blocks with some articulation and some nice heads. But these guys take the blockiness and turn it into different shapes that look more like formed up beings. Plus they have beautiful heads. And they are based on G1 characters from IDW, so all around they are G1 to me

i was told that fortress maximus was so huge that he was way bigger than metroplex but some how cerebros was about the same size as optimus prime that would make for a tiny head, right! unless you forget scale
so some how everything just magically fits together. maybe blastoff is a regular size space shuttle and some how magically fits as an arm for bruticus if that's how it is so be it!

Also, for this whole Blastoff discussion, everyone is free to like and preffer something, or to be happy with what they have. But its statements like "well this makes more sense" that make me shrug. There is no sense to anything in this wonderful brand and mythology. The only real logic is in the business behind it and cost and that is all this Blastoff is a product of.

Though, all the Combaticons did have earlier designs that were closer to their toys than the final ones were (except for their heads, which in these earlier designs appear to be completely new heads instead of anything like the toy heads):
I don't consider them toys that represent every specific iteration of the Primax characters, but I do consider them toys of the Primax characters in a general sense, at the very least.Rodimus Prime wrote:I don't mean to throw the conversation off the Combaticons, but I have a question: how many of you consider the CW figures as "G1" as far as them being designed after the originals, as well as having their names/characters? The same applies to things like Megatron and Soundwave being full sized giant robots who transform into human-sized handheld objects (a gun and a tape player). Characters grow and shrink in size while transforming all the time.Ultra Markus wrote:in the the world of transformers scale doesnt matter

absolutly! whether the size for human hands or decepticons hands
and by the same logic bumble bee can be as big as metroplex if he wants to be
Posted by Sabrblade on November 16th, 2015 @ 10:15pm CST
Except that the size of Bumblebee's altmode isn't disproportionate to the size of his robot mode. He doesn't change size when he transforms since his altmode size is already scaled close enough to his robot mode size.Ultra Markus wrote:and by the same logic bumble bee can be as big as metroplex if he wants to be
Conversely, Cerebros in the cartoon (and his Japanese counterpart Fortress) gets bigger when he transforms into a head because the body his head mode attaches to is so enormously huge due to it transforming into an entire city.
The comic versions of Fort Max didn't utilize the City Mode, so Fort Max was smaller in those versions, being closer to a normal-sized TF.

What a load of blatant bs, that's a serious d!ck slap to the face to all the fans, 1 of 2 new combiner components for next year is utter trash, color me disappointed - not surprised, just disappointed
On second thought, TT also had a hand in designing this, so, yeah, actually, WTF? 2 design teams and they couldn't make it tab together, F$%K this
