Rounding off the last wave of 2015 Transformers Legends class, currently still under the Combiner Wars monicker, fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 brings us a video review of the redeco, with the new Huffer head, of the Optimus Prime mold - into Pipes! (Poor Pipes.) Check it out below.

Depending on how you count mold uses, this is either the 4th or 5th use of the Generations Legends Optimus Prime mold. You now have you selection of colors and two heads, if you haven't been buying them all along like I have. Pipes is has the tightest joints thus far, which is a good thing, and I do like the color blue, another plus. In the end it all comes down to whether or not you want another Legends sized truck sitting on your desk.

I actually keep my Pipes near my computer. Fun little toy to play with. And even though this mold was originally made for Optimus Prime, and the head was made for Huffer, you can still approximate a bit of Pipes' design into his transformation: lift the front grille section as high as it will go on his back in robot mode, and it's sort of like the cab/hood section of his G1 toy when viewed from the front.

Seems like HB Asia has gotten into the act,in a limited fashion that is. I just got from TRU the already mentioned Skywarp GG version, Blackjack and mini-me Groove. Huffer too is shelf warming (around 5 units).

So many Viper and Windchargers and Warpath aalso shelfhanging/warming

Still looking for the G1 style legend/legion Skywarp.

I like the mold, and its petty cool as Huffer, but as my main picture of Pipes is from IDW, this one falls a little flat for me. He doesn't look like the Pipes I'd want. That's a shame. He is cool and I do like the color. I may end up getting him because Transformers but I'm not jonesing for it.

I'm shocked that Viper is peg warming. I've never seen that figure at retail. Now his wave mates on the other hand are doing some hardcore peg loitering.

I'm a little concerned about the next wave getting stocked.

And not a PG on sight. Viper's been that way for sometime now, like when he was released 6 months ago iirc (TRU)

Maybe a testament to Hbs distribution prowess. Like that scout size Windcharger a few years back and TFA Arcee which none of us could find in the retail scene.

I've seen a few Powerglides and got mine at retail. You couldn't find Rodimus or Skywarp when those waves first hit and now our shelves are chocking on them. Got a few Warpaths and Grooves hanging around and oddly quite a few Blackjacks. I'm guess BJ got bundled in a later wave to round out the case.

Either way, I'm glad I nabbed Shockwave from HTS when I had the chance. He's a really cool figure. I might pick up his wave mates if I spot them, but they're not priority.

Seriously, those guys got scalped so hard, either that, or they aren't being included in the case assortment - would explain why there are so many grooves, warpaths, rodimus', and skywarps rotting on shelves.

Finally got My HTS order on Saturday.
Chop Shop is just great. We all new what we were in for of course, but he is good repaint with a great new head sculpt. And who doesn't need another small Decepticon minion?

So I am never all that excited about any of Shockwave's modern alt modes. They always end up being some kind of laser log. This one is no exception. I am glad he is actually a gun though.
All that said, He is an AWESOME little action figure in bot mode. Great articulation. Even his little foot articulation and thigh swivel makes for some great poses. Neat deco, and of course I love me some translucenceness.
When he is not busy being somebody's gun up on the Classics shelf, he will most certainly be down on the Legion/Legend/Cyberverse shelf hangin' with Legends Megs and the Seekers.

The only super gripe I have is the dang serial number/product code being totally visible on the top of gun mode. They couldn't find a more discrete place to print that?

... But man, He is a great little action figure! He might even reek some havoc on some Micromen. :CON:

Ya I think Superlink might be my fav so far.
Are you working on a list Billy? :D
Than I'll give a quick Billy List. But this is just based on what I have in my collection.

1. Superlink Laser Wave - Alt mode is maybe the most interesting laser log to date. Robot mode is great. Big and mean. He could even be a fine stand in for a Classics/Gen Shocky. And I love that big stupid cannon arm.
2. CW Legend Shockwave - Alt mode is so so, great that he can be wielded. Robot mode is aesthetically a really nice update to G1 SW. Great sculpt and nice simple deco that gets the point across, and again really good expressive figure to pose and play with.
3. FoC Shockwave - Alt mode is the worst laser log thus far. Robot mode is good. Neat sculpt, cool head. Good articulation.
4. Prime Cyberverse Shockwave - Worst alt mode of all. What is it? Robot mode is great though. Definitely the most sinister looking character design he's received.

Thanks for the feedback, please bookmark this post of your so you can use it when I make my list. It's already done and while it of course repeats a lot of your picks, it adds some other toys you dont have. I am guessing you dont have Animated Shockwave right? Also, did you ever convert your super link laserwave into his satelite mode?

No I didnt, those were not easy to find. They were only sold at a few locations in the states and if you wanted to buy them online from robot kingdom the shipping was murder.

I still see them around here (US) in abundance, but they are $6.99 at discount retail chains that don't have "sales".

Hey RAR, which ones are you looking for? From what I understand shipping from the US to the UK is equally as murder.

But as Will said they were sold via "dollar/discount" type stores here.

I picked up Magnus some time ago and I saw Skywarp and Cliffjumper at that time too. They can still be found, but you gots to do some serious hunting. To be honest they really aren't worth the trouble unless you can get them on the cheap. I wanna say they retailed around $5-6 US.

Greetings All,

Just a couple Quick Question... Can ALL of the 2015/2016 CW Legends Class figures act as Chest Pieces and/or Weapons for Combiners? I was just curious as some of these are repaints of previous 2013/2014 Basic Generations toys.

Well, if you fanagle with the molds, you can make pretty much anything work as a chestpiece for the Prime/MM mold:

Not in an official or planned way. There re a bunch of fan modes but the only figures that were made to work with the combiners are the groove mold, the powerglide mold and the blackjack mold (and he doesnt even work that well to combine).

Interesting, that of all the Legends Class figures, the 4 that that have been designed to fit with combiners all may be included with a G2 set (That is assuming they do a G2 Defensor, which would likely include Legends Groove)

The ones that are specifically designed to interact in some way with the combiners are as follows:
  • The Powerglide/Viper mold - forms a gun for Combiners (specifically Superion/Galvatronus) to wield
  • The Bombshell mold seems like might have been planned at one point to form some kind of gun weapon for a Combiner to wield, what with his fist-mounted cannons and the 5mm handles on his knees, but said plans seem have been aborted since neither his instructions nor his packaging call any attention to the idea.
  • The Blackjack/Rodimus mold - forms a chestplate for the Motormaster/Optimus Prime mold combiner torso
  • The Groove/Rust Dust/Wreck-Gar mold - forms a chestplate for the fire truck version of the Hot Spot/Pyra Magna mold combiner torso, OR in Wreck Gar's case, is said to attach to the back of the Sky Lynx combiner torso
  • The Shockwave mold - forms a gun for Combiners (specifically Bruticus) to wield, and attaches to the Onslaught version of the Onslaught mold
The rest of the CW Legends are all ordinary figures, save for Buzz Saw, whose instead designed to interact with the Titans Return Blaster/Soundwave mold.

Well, bbts has him for $12, but, again, shipping is gonna kill ya; best I can offer is order him from them and get him with something else and shipping won't go up much (depending on what you get); otherwise, you might have to hunt him down on amazon or ebay... or ask others in the appropriate sighting's thread for help.

Yeah, I don't know where you're from, but looking at ebay he's not cheap there, nor amazon. I think you will either have to bite the bullet or find a decent online haul so shipping don't kill ya :BOT:

Okay wow. I swear I looked at BBTS just yesterday and Powerglide was sold out. He's listed as "new" so I guess they restocked and I'm not just going crazy. I'll probably follow the suggestion of buying something to go with him to mitigate the shipping cost, but first I'll double check in my local sightings area. Thanks for the advice, both of you!

Well, I wound up getting that two-pack of Generations Arcee and Chromia that's been sitting there unmoving for a while. I need more fembots in my collection anyway. Shipping barely budged from what it was with just PG ($5.75 compared to $5) so that's a big plus. I look forward to Superion being truly complete and having some more female representation on my shelves.

Yeah, I scored that same 2-pack, and bbts' shipping is pretty great so long as you get something to offset the initial $5.

Yeah, I find cases tend to not sell quickly; I think it has something to do with having to deal with the extra figure (whether its unwanted, if you just want the one, or if you're scalping the popular one, you'r left with one nobody really wants...)

I've spent enough recently. UW Devastator for $200 (shipped), Breakdown and Offroad for about $22 each on eBay, and now $45 on this order from BBTS. Plus $50 I owed to a guy for other stuff. I thought about nabbing Blades and Streetwise from HTS and throwing in Shockwave, but I'll wait to finish my Defensor until I've recovered a bit. I'll wait to find Shockwave in stores.

Something about mini-Shockwave's gun arm, chunkiness and especially the boots make me think Megaman boss.

It's been a while since we've been back in the Legends class thread, but thanks to fellow Seibertronian ScottyP and an Amazon.com listing, we have some new images of the Generations Wreck-Gar figure, which reuses the Hasbro mold for Groove. Check it out mirrored below!

Not bad, but I think I prefer my Reveal The Shield Wreck-Gar better.

He's the Combiner Wars Groove mold, so he can turn into a chest plate for Defensor, or whoever elses' chest he fits onto.
