Thanks to tee bizz on Youtube, we have our first in hands look at Super7's ReAction Transformers! For those not aware, ReAction is Super7's line of retro-style action figures, usually with five points of articulation at 3.75" scale. Think of them like Action Masters, but with less articulation. Each figure comes with a weapon accessory (including Starscream who comes with a gun Megatron) except for Megatron who's canon is certainly large enough. The review covers Megatron, Starscream and Jazz.

The entire first wave consists of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. Next will be an even more ambitious set for February made up of Alpha Trion, Skyfire, Mirage, Grimlock, Shockwave, Rumble, Shrapnel, and Devastator. The suggested price is $15 though most retailers seem to be more comfortable $18.

What do you think? Do Transformers need to transform or are you all in for the cartoon accuracy? Or are you just here for the retro vibes? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think!

I remember these. You youngsters might not remember them, but back in my day we used to call them "Action Masters". So.. not entirely sure how I feel about this specific line. It's a little nostalgic for me, and yet I remember not liking Action Masters very much...

Wow these look surprisingly good, with some sharp AF paint decos, but a little smaller than expected. Will be getting Soundwave for shrine reasons.

They are so G1 cartoon accurate, does that make these "Action Masterpiece" figures?

But the Action Masters had more possibility (granted just knee joints) and had their partners.

I'm just riffing on the current trend of super toon accuracy "to a fault" of the MP line.

They are kind of like less articulated, better painted action masters.

I think I'll pass, but they are kind of an interesting thing to have out there in the universe.

Not yet.

This isn't action masters. Action masters were more articulated and came with a transforming component so there was still a Transformers element.

This line is not banking on action master nostalgia (at least not purposefully) instead it's about imposing the limited 5 articulation points of the first star wars Kenner figures from the 70s to all franchises. So it's even more retro.

I like them, they're cute.... but they're not $18 cute. I think if I saw them on clearance for $8 I might buy one, but at that price I can get a deluxe fig, man.

If S7 hadnt increased the price i'd be getting some but going from $13 (the price reactions were a few months ago) to $18 is a deal breaker. I am on SSI and can not convince myself to spend that much on a 5 POA figure thats 4 inches.

I'll be in a minority in that action masters were some of my favourite transformers (first figures I had as a kid) and I've always wanted reissues in better colours, or new characters made in the same style. These really should be something I want to buy, but somehow they manage to miss the mark. Close but no cigar. Won't be buying them but I hope they are successful.

There is a bit of novelty to the small size though. Did ya buy it?

No, I could not justify $20 for it.

The one of these that I may be interested in is Jazz. But that size, geez, I thought they would have been bigger

Well the ReAction line's schtick is 3.75" figures. The price does seem pretty steep though. I've never really paid much attention to the line before, so I'm not sure what the other figures sold for. Seen several at Target over the years and never once looked at the price.

I think they are usually around $15, but it's FYE so it's always got a bit of a markup

Just in from #HasbroToyFair 2020 Seibertron presents images of the massive Super 7 display of their Reaction and Super Cyborg lines. Reaction is now offering their Action Master-ish versions of Perceptor, Astrotrain, Starscream, Megatron, Alpha Trion, Shrapnel (Skrapnel? Sharpshot? So hard to keep track...track), Frenzy, Blaster, Dirge, Blitzwing, Shockwave, Jazz, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and a huge Devastator! They also have on display their Super Cyborg versions of Optimus and Megatron in both standard and clear versions. They also have a Super Cyborg Soundwave and the new Shogun sized Optimus Prime. Lastly they have what is likely to be the talk of the block this Halloween: their offering of new Halloween candy baskets shaped like the head of 80's icons including, you guessed it, Optimus Prime and Megatron. Enjoy the views and as always stay tuned to Seibertron for the ultimate in #HasbroToyFair 2020 Transformers news!

I have all these on preorder. They look great!

That Devy looks cool... BBTS has a preorder for 2 Devy's (large and regular), I'm guessing this is the large sized up from the regular?

I still want the large translucent purple Megatron, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Thanks to their own Twitter page, we have news that the next wave of Super7 ReAction figures is due out soon, and we get a nice look at the next 4 figures to make up that wave. The new wave consists of Dinobot Legend and Leader Grimlock, the insecticon Shrapnel, the little blue cassette Rumble, and the large Autobot jet Skyfire!

The Super7 ReAction figures are small 3.75" figures that feature a very 1980's cartoony look and aesthetic, with very limited articulation. They have included a fairly decent cast so far that includes the likes of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and after the recent Toy Fairs are set to include even more cast members such as Alpha Trion and Devastator.

:-x Grimlock's sword is wrong, it should be silver. These are cartoon-based, and in the cartoon the Dinobots' swords are silver like they were supposed to be before the change to soft plastic.

I'm trying to remember when the Dinobots used their swords in the G1 cartoon. Which episode was it again?

Well, only Grimlock and Snarl were shown to use theirs, but both were shown to be silver. Snarl used his in almost every episode he featured in, where he fired lasers from its tip. Grimlock used his in "Madman's Paradise" to swat away boulders.

Wow. I totally forgot about that (or didn't realize that). Thank you for letting me know.

Despite its usage, I would still think the red sword is far more well known than the minor usages of "silver" swords by Dinobots in the cartoon. Personally, I'm glad they used the red sword. I feel the red swords are far more iconic to the Dinobots than the silver swords like the packaging artwork.
Re: Video Review Provides In Hand Look at Super7 ReAction Transformers Figures (2057354)
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on March 21st, 2020 @ 12:46am CDT
Well, I think they're idiots for using red here because these are obviously supposed to reflect the cartoon.

I wish the red swords weren't so iconic... I've always felt it looked bland compared to the shining silver... And Hasbro obviously wanted the swords to be silver (as with the Diaclone toys), judging by the packaging artwork, the cartoon, and the commercials. The swords (and Swoop's missiles and jaw, and Slag's horns) were only red because toy safety laws forced them to be cast in soft plastic, which couldn't be vacuum-metallized. And the bloody Marvel colorists just had to go based off the toys, and everybody since copied them...

Stupid Marvel... Although to be fair, also stupid BS&P. The Dinobots would probably have all used their swords in the cartoon, and more often, if the BS&P had been more lenient about swords in the '80s. But no.

Ah, but see... 1. There is no question that in the cartoon, Rumble was the name attached to that color scheme and 2. so long as both color schemes are correctly portrayed it scarcely matters which scheme is packaged with which name :P I just hope that when they get to his twin, they use actually black rather than substituting dark blue.

Toon-accuracy is what the majority want, & that's what Has/Tak is giving them. Not knocking anyone for loving it, but personally the style is not for me. I love Beast Wars, but as far as characters who turn into vehicles go, I lean more towards G1/G2, RID, & Binaltech/Alternators. Although I've had my eye on Armada Wheeljack for quite some time. ("Roger Rabbit treatment?"  )

That's what I call it. Where previous G1 MPs were trying to be "The character as they would look IRL," MP-44 and on are trying to be "The character as if their animation model stepped off the screen", so I think of them as the Roger Rabbit MPs

Thanks to our sponsor BigBadToyStore, we have some new images of Super 7's line of licensed Transformers ReAction figures. This is a line that takes its inspiration from G1 characters' animation models, and gives them Action Master-style (i.e. non-transforming) figures on retro themed packaging.

The latest figures to be shown in the line include G1 stalwarts Shockwave, Alpha Trion, Mirage, and Astrotrain.

Overquoting to point out that the pictures count as ADS.
So, you have to disable your adblock for Seibertron.

I always block ads on Seibertron because all those FLASHING GIFS are annoying as hell and I get to see some weird stuff for a TF site:

Image

As for the toys themselves, it's a "meh". Look like Xmass tree decorations and those are the kind of things that MUST be kept sealed because the card itself is part of the whole display piece.
An easy pass for me.

Yeah, I have ads blocked on this site too. Mostly because of ads that autoplay sound and video (REALLY annoying) and slow everything the slag down.

I wonder what Bounti did in that post that got the pics flagged as ads. Other news posts with externally-linked pics haven't had that problem.

18$.

You find that Absurd?

AH! You naïve plebs.

Naive pleb? Hardly... In my younger, heavier collecting days I thought nothing of dropping money on collectibles (ex. $100+ for a single rare Kubrick, etc.), but, being older and having a home, kids, family, I find value is way more important. All of Super 7's products are awesome but their designer price tags just aren't.

18$ is NOTHING compared to a worst looking similarly sized figure packed in a freaking Ziplock bag that the base price is around 100$.

It have nothing to do with what you want to buy or why. I was simply pointing out that if you thought this was overpriced, something way worst existed. And even if I'd be rich like Scrooge Mc Duck, you'll never catch me buying a Yutani figure, ever.
