Thanks to frequent reviewer and Seibertronian chuckdawg1999, we have a video review to share of the Prime Wars Repugnus figure, which is currently shipping out from Amazon's website. We've had in-hand images already, but an in-motion review is a new occurrence for this toy.
In addition to the usual review fare of transformation, articulation and so on, Chuck also runs through the retooling done to the figure, comparisons to Repugnus' Monsterbot colleague Grotusque, further looks at the option to swap in the Titans Return Repugnus Titan Master for the head, and more. Check out the video below, and share your thoughts on the Energon Pub Forums!
Repugnus is the second Amazon exclusive figure from the Prime Wars trilogy representing Titans Return. A heavy retool of Twinferno, it's closer in appearance to the previously released exclusive Grotusque. An interesting figure in its own right with a fun transformation, Repugnus is a solid choice.

Maybe noticed that yellow plastic would hide all the details. You can compare Titan Master Repugnus with Headmaster Repugnus. There you can see the exact difference

I also got the *sorry for delay* notice on Repugnus, but I checked tracking , and he's at least in my county now Should have it today or tomorrow.
Also I feel a bit jaded about these exclusives. I mean it's great that Hasbro is offering an all-new toy in Punch/Counterpunch, but I still maintain it's more of a sneak preview for Siege than anything else. Other than coming with a Prime Master (which the others do as well), It's not a true representation of PotP, as it's not a combiner limb. They should have made 4 exclusives, or just released Punch/CP as a regular Siege deluxe.
I mean I'm only getting Repugnus to complete the Monsterbot Trio, which my son wanted more than anything else. I'm Not getting Blastoff since I already have the UW one (a different paint scheme isn't enough to warrant me purchasing it again), and I'm not getting P/CP obviously because it isn't part of a combiner. I may even end up selling the exclusive Solus that comes with Repugnus. I'll eventually have all the regular releases of the 13 PM's, I don't need just one of three exclusive variants.
Speaking of which...Remember we originally saw 15 symbols? How awesome would it have been if the 3 Amazon deluxes came with two of those? P/CP being more of a siege preview could have just been released on his own, without a PM.

I'll be waiting until they're (inevitably) on clearance, then pick up an Inferno on the cheap. It'll be fun to make a red-only combiner out of Inferno, CW Ironhide, Novastar...
And check out my review for Inferno if you haven't seen it yet!

Repugnus is a decent figure. I like his Hasbro Headmaster head a bit better, and swapped it out before putting him next to Doublecross (Twinferno) and Grotusque on my shelves. I’m just happy Hasbro didn’t leave us with two Deluxe scale Monsterbots and tiny Repugnus.

T30 throwback, or Siege preview, whatever you want to call it. But the fact remains P/CP while probably a great new toy, should not have the PotP label as it isn't a representation of that line.

You could just consider the Throne of the Primes to be the "Power of the Primes" exclusive representative instead. It definitely fits the PotP theme.

ZeroWolf wrote:I can agree with that not sure what would have been that wouldnt have caused a controversy. Some people would have been very unhappy at the idea of having an exclusive limb that they wanted for one of the other torsos
True, but considering what I've had to go through to get past exclusive limbs (from Botcon and TFCC), the Amazon ones are comparatively much more readily available, and economical,

I started seriously collecting again with Battle Core Optimus Prime and even at that point, my goal was to just make an all-white Combiner (ended up being Battle Core Optimus Prime, First Aid, Prowl, Streetwise, and Rook) which I acquired very slowly so I missed Hot Spot on the shelves and never bother to get him after.
But seeing all of these pics of Inferno while not owning Hot Spot - I'd much rather have Inferno.

1. -If you don't have Inferno, that means someone gave him to you to review...does that mean you take requests..??
2. I don't think I've ever seen that many Generations voyagers in one location, only SS recently. I have seen Inferno twice. The first I purchased , the second got purchased in time after his package mate Grimlock got purchased first .
On the flipside, a walmart near me recently finally got wave 2 deluxes and they are selling like hotcakes, Imagine if they got wave 3... . Meanwhile another walmart has sealed their fate with multiple cases of wave 1 that await inevitable clearance, and another that has zero Generations deluxes in stock. hopefully they get wave 3 and see how quickly they get bought up.
In truth, I already have all of wave 3 (got Deluxes and PM's from BBTS...) I just like seeing them in the store...

How could they be warming shelves if they just got there?

for limbs, I gave CW wave 6 (Sky Reign limbs) and CW legends Wreck Gar.
which frees up my Sky Lynx to just be Sky Lynx on my shelf.

It's Inferno. He heats shit up. It's what he does. Which makes his fire truck alt mode ironic. Question is, did Budiansky do it on purpose or was it a mistake?william-james88 wrote:How could they be warming shelves if they just got there?
Cobo, I like the bug family photo album as well.
mordhelm, do you count exclusives or just wide released figures? Because I think Blue Streak should count. And yes, Hasbro screwed up by not giving Ratchet or Sideswipe a figure in CW.

Had all Prime Masters been at retail it would have been more even. Not an actual lineup, just my theory:
Metalhawk/Vector Prime
Cloudburt/Micronus
Landmine/Alpha Trion
Waverider/Prima
Longtooth/Onyx Prime
Either Groundbreaker/Splashdown/Skyhigh as Amalgamous Prime
Bomb-Burst/Megatronus
Skullgrin/Liege Maximo
Submarauder/Alchemist Prime
Octopunch/Solus Prime
Bludgeon/Quintus Prime
Iguanus/Nexus Prime
As for why only twelve and not Thirteen: early in PotP promotions it was said the Matrix represented the Thirteenth Prime.

My Target has the same price drop in place, yeah, although I have no interest in the Wave 1 + Inferno that they have. To me, Inferno is an insane pyromaniac ant man, and any Autobot pretenders to the title are unworthy of the name.

Mine did too.
Almost bought Inferno but grabbed Sludge to complete my PotP Dinobots (which I told myself I wasn't going to do....).

I still think someone should combine him with 4 red limbs, find a targetmaster like CW Powerglide, and make an Artfire combiner!

I'm still waiting for two free jets and a tank or armored vehicle, to go with Alpha Bravo. I wish KO companies didn't upsize...

Overall, PotP Dinobots are okay. They could have been fantastic but, the combining gimmick restricted them.
It's clearly obvious they wanted to recreate the original G1 look, but with a modern take. Unfortunately they then shoehorned in a gimmick which didn't work with that look and style.
But hey, we have modern G1 inspired Dinobots so we can't complain too much.
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on August 5th, 2018 @ 6:17pm CDT
Overall, I like the Power of the Primes Dinobots. A lot of work was obviously put into keeping them close to the details (and usually the transformation scheme) of the originals while making them more articulated and cramming the combining gimmick in there on top of that. They would look better with some more painting and actual chrome, but they still look good. And while perforce only Grimlock got upsized to Voyager, the others at least still gained some height compared to the G1 toys. And more articulation. Sludge doesn't gain a whole lot more robot mode articulation compared to his original toy... but that's only because his original toy was shockingly well articulated to begin with.
My main disappointments with the Dinobots are the lack of any of Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge's personal weapons (though I have an idea to work around that at least somewhat), and Slag lacking his wings
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm also a bit disappointed we didn't get a Scorn retool of Grimlock. But hey, there's always the future, and HasTak are sure to want to get more use out of his mold.
Also forgot to mention that I'm planning on rigging up either an adapter handle or an alternate set of fingers to allow Volcanicus to hold Sparkdrinker. I ultimately want to make a unique sword for him that's in line with the aesthetic of the individual Dinobots' swords, but Sparkdrinker would make for a fine interim weapon.

Its mostly arriving in hobby store called Nexus. Toys'R'us just 2 months late
They didnt even get titans return and TRU jumped straigbt into power of the primes deluxe waves instead too got started getting ghe 3 prime masters i bought at the comic/hobby store and they are 3 times more expensive too. My currency closely translates to 8£ Pounds but toys'r'us sells them at nearly 18/20 pounds for a mere prime master/decoy armor a pop

Think about PotP. We got Dinobots and the 2 season 3 beast combiners. We also got new characters, season 1, and season 3 guys all in the legends class, plus a reimagined duocon. We got a Starscream, Inferno and Jazz alongside some long overdue females. And we got a trukk and a munky, along with 2 Roddy Primes evil and good.
Simply put, PotP was a wide assortment with many seeing new gimmicks, new G1 iterations of characters that have originated elsewhere, revisiting gimmicks for some teams and individuals, and basically, it was fairly random yet organized. P/CP may not be a limb, but his inclusion really isn't as non-representative as some may think.
