Courtesy of Singaporean robot fan Daniel Oon, and toy reviewer on YouTube Kevin Liu, we have a full look in Chinese at an early acquisition of the Titan class figure from the Transformers Power of the Primes toyline for 2018: Predaking!

In the video, embedded below for your viewing convenience, we get a look at the Predacon team as their individual members - Razorclaw, Torox, Headstrong, Rampage and Divebomb - in both robot and beast mode, as the fully combined mode of the Voyager sized Predacons, Predaking himself, will be coming in part two shortly - so stay tuned to find out. Take a look for now, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion boards!

Always a good reviewer. and YES! a white background.

I'm just gonna say, this titan seriously outshines Devastator by individual bots on so many levels. yeah sure, it's one fewer bot... but that is a weak defense (looking at you Fortmax)

I'll definitely be getting this. Still, have to reserve judgement till I can check out how odd and bulky those big black backpacks are. It's quite a dew-claw for the design. Really surprised it made it to release with that in the design... instead of having them detach into big missile batteries or... well... something else.

That's going to be quite a bit of sticker work. Looks good, and Razorclaw is rather creative on how they do the feet. Also... if Divebomb is Hun-Gurr sized... Headstrong and Tantrum must be HUGE!!!

I'm not sure how much it would've affected the stability of Predaking, but yeah, having the option to unclip the backpacks would've gone a long way, even if they didn't do anything when removed.

That Waist pivot does look somewhat flimsy though.

Thats unfortinate the right arm doesnt seem to have the ratchet. If that left hand falling ofd is a sign of a bad connection, well crap. But I have a fww CW figures with the same problem.

Aren't those black bits razorclaw's legs? I suppose we'll have to wait till more in hand pics and of reviews where it's transformed correctly.

Back from /toy/, are you? Still, that tiny widdle joint is very worrying. I bet there's a 3P upgrade kit already in the work that is so extensive, it will cost as much as the whole Predaking set itself. #-o

How'd you guess? (Not the original posted of those images/webms though.)

And yeah, that joint alone makes me fear for Predaking buyers. After the shenanigans with Trypticon, I don't see this ending well. I'm still firmly of the opinion that these Titans should have used the same "mass" but much denser, thus being smaller but with more parts and thicker plastic. They'd still end up much bigger than a regular gestalt but...not like...that.

Well that pretty much seals it for me. I'm still getting him, but I'm definitely waiting for a Christmas sale. And TRU being out of business actually works in my favor here since I won't see him on the shelf and buy him on sight.

Thanks to a nudge from fellow Seibertronian unicron1200, we now have Part 2 of Kevin Liu's review for the Power of the Primes Predacons - this time going over the big 'bot, Predaking himself!

The video goes over the transformation process to convert each individual Predacon into their combined mode, helpfully pointing out various locking points and little details of transformation along the way. After that we get a comparison to Combiner Wars Devastator (he's almost exactly as tall as that six-bot behemoth!) and Leader Megatron, and a run-down on Predaking's articulation. For the more critical among you, the review also reveals a few of the figure's potential foibles as well.

Check out the video embedded below, and if you missed it, Part 1 of this review (going over each individual Predacon) can be found here! Share your thoughts by posting in the Energon Pub forums, and as always, stay tuned to Seibertron.com for more exciting Transformers news!

Really looking forward to this! Usually don’t watch reviews before a toy is out but I just wanted one question answered: can rampage and divebomb be interchangeable arms? I’m not usually picky but I’m so baffled on why their positions as arms were switched.

Answer?

No. They can’t be switched. There’s pegs in the back for the wings to attach and the shoulder canons.

Oh...well alright. Not a deal breaker or worth complaining just makes me ask still “Why we’re they switched? When was divebomb ever the right arm?’

When first seeing the pictures of Predaking, I was worried about how thin he looked. However, seeing this video, he looks a lot better than I had originally thought. I am definitely going to add him to my collection!

I think it's novel (though I would have thought it better to have a larger razorclaw but I understand that wouldn't have worked for some fans)

Because the Titans are mainly aimed towards the adult collectors whereas the single releases are geared towards kids and collectors. What do you think would sell better towards kids, dinos, or 4 mammals and a bird?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the dinobots in a larger scale, but from a potential sales standpoint, they made the right choice.
Re: Video Review of Transformers Power of the Primes Predacons (1962942)
Posted by Evil Eye on June 4th, 2018 @ 6:47am CDT
If you want a "Volcanicus" at a larger scale then Zeta Toys are meant to be doing an improved reissue of their Dinobot combiner (I'd recommend buying that rather than the Toyworld original, especially if you want to do the combiner thing). It's not gonna be cheap, but they make for pretty good Dinobots and the combined mode looks awesome.

It comes with stickers but we have to apply them, as evidenced by some of those in Singapore that already have him and photos out of the box had no stickers. As to whether you find them nice enough, versus waiting for reprolabels, I can't answer that for you.

Hell, if we are going to go that far, lets just jump to a Titan class groove with a working motor that 2 year olds could ride. Bought on site.

I'll admit I'm warming up to this big lug a little. I'm still not in love like I was with Devastator, not by any means, but he's looking more acceptable at least. Maybe I'll pick him up eventually, depending what insane price he ends up going for down here

Dunno why but I kinda have the "combiner fatigue". Enough that I may skip this release and even going as far as to sell my CW Devastator. With unaplied brand new reprolabels sheets. I-)

We have some cool news to share tonight that might play a deciding role in your future Transformers purchases! Cheftron, always one of the earliest toy reviewers on YouTube, put out a video today covering the upcoming Transformers Power of the Primes Predaking! This is the first English video review we've seen, and it takes you through a close look at the upcoming figure. The new titan has been quite controversial as far has his design goes, so does this video change your mind or opinion on the figure, for better or for worse? Will you be picking him up when he releases later on this year? Please let us know down in the energon pub forums below this article!

It looks to be the same issue as with Devastator--even though the sizes are large, the transformations are what you would expect from a deluxe figure. What's the point of turning into a beast mode if the mouths and legs are not going to do anything? They just turn into animal shaped bricks.

The only way I am going to purchase this one is if I see it on clearance at Ollie's or something for $50.
Re: Video Review of Transformers Power of the Primes Predacons (1965029)

Yeah, while I agree... I DO understand that Hasbro has to wrestle with a few challenges:

1. Ensuring stability with such heavy figures (ie. no ball and socket joints, etc.)
2. Passing the "drop test" at such a large size
3. Keeping price down enough that it can be affordable to a kid audience

Dealing with all of those means simplifying design AND sadly some hollow parts. I think with all the challenges they had, they've put together a really good looking figure.

Seeing the video and more recent photos, I think my hesitation is gone. Will definitely be picking up the figure. Looks like it displays really well with Devastator.
Re: Video Review of Transformers Power of the Primes Predacons (1965036)
Posted by Overcracker on June 14th, 2018 @ 2:03pm CDT
If anything can be said about it, is the combination is rather unique.

With Tantrum (I refuse to call him Torox) and Headstrong actually transforming into the complete leg, rather than just shins, and Divebombs wings actually forming part of the crotch and lower torso.

This unfortunately means the Wings are non-removable. So any 3P Chromed Set will need to account for that.

I'm sure in person he'll look quite imposing though. The thin waist was not as distracting in the video as it had been in previous pictures.

My only gripe is the lack of BF Sword. What's a Predaking without his massive sword?

I'm sure 3rd parties, or even Shapeways will take care of that though.

And G1 cartoon accurate.

Only one episode ever had him use a sword in just one scene, and it was a purple lightsaber-type sword that looked nothing like the big golden broadsword we often associate with Predaking.

Yes, that's the 3P sword I want, because I don't think that's been done yet.

And I indeed wanted G1 toy accuracy way back when, so I bought the reissue! Regardless of whatever design flaws PotPredaking has, as long as it attempts to be more accurate to his media appearances than another toy that's relatively easy to acquire, I'll still seriously consider buying it. They had me at "shoulder cannons".
