The newest rebirth of the Aerialbots are in the Power Core Combiners toyline, under the name 'Skyburst'. The 5-Pack has gotten into the hands of Youtuber Peaugh, and he reviews the five airplanes. The central figure, a homage to Silverbolt, is the only one that has a robot mode, while the other planes act as drone limbs. Peaugh also shows the Skyburst drones combined with Autobot Searchlight with Backwind. Check out the video on Youtube or embed below.

Seriously, someone sell me on this.

You're judging something based off on how it looks on the internet? You have yet to experience these hands on. If someone showed you some promo pictures of Transformers Armada, and someone reviewed it on Youtube and wasn't too excited about it either, would you have the Armada collection you have today? Everything deserves a chance, at least one figure for goodness sake.

I don't understand how, considering they have no robot modes, they look so poor? Damn automorph gimmick needs to be stepped away from, a manual transformation for these would've achieved far better results, at least on par with Energon prime's drones.

The central scouts seem OK, and where they could fill a gap in my Classics collection I may grab them, (ie Huffer) but the premise of the PCC set is a huge flop in my opinion, unless future 5 packs improve the 'limb-i-ness' of the limbs.

Wow.
The central figure looks dreadful.
The combined mode looks worse.
Combaticons superior. Aerialbots inferior. At least the Deceps look like i can remove the gimmick and install articulation.

Cruddy though the combined form may be, I really love Silverbolt's jet mode, even if it will be ridiculously small next to everyone else.
Wondering yet again if these are all gang-molded together or if we might see the scout commanders repainted separately.

Anyways, I'm still liking these guys, besides a few minor quibbles. I still look forward to getting them. I've always been a sucker for combiners. Hoping for a Train and a Boat.

The next two combiners are race cars and monster trucks.

A central Robot that has 4 drones follow him and then combine into a larger robot.
Of course Bandai used the same mold for all 4 limbs (and gave them robot modes, bad ones but robot modes nonetheless). But the theory is pretty much the same.
One has to question the decision of giving them weird looking claw arms. Having already forfeited the robot mode, I'm sure it would have been easier to design normal looking arms with regular humanoid fists and legs from the drones, than these weird claw arms with the springy automorph. Lose the Autmorph and make them humanoid looking limbs and it would be acceptable. (But I guess some would complain that they'd look like Power Ranger Knockoffs).
And damn that Apache chopper leg looks extremely unstable. I mean he's standing on the tip of the cockpit.
Still the central robots look decent enough on their own.
I'm sure if a few more sets like these are released, there may be enough drones to mix together a decent looking larger robot.
Other than that the drones are quite worthless.

If these grow on me like Machine Robo did, then it will be a cool line. But the central figure has got to sell it. And I do like the fact that the drones do have bot modes of their own. Isn't there a lot of add on weaponry too? These lack that piece too.

Yeah, the Robos had guns and weapons for the drones. But you know how Hasbro hates accessories with their figures for some reason.

Thanks, but I know. I didn't necessarily mean either of those as a 5-pack, I actually meant as a 2-pack with a mini-con. Anyways, speaking of these guys, they both look really good and am interested to seeing them and their combined forms.

Now that I've watched the entire video, here are my further thoughts: It's almost as if Skyburst was designed for the torso mode, and the other two modes were somewhat of an after-thought, design-wise. The torso mode actually looks pretty decent, but the robot mode is overly simplistic, and both robot and alt suffer from pretty bad kibble.
Both of the helicopter limbs look terrible, the other ones are passable.
Still, if this sees a G1-ish repaint I might pick it up, otherwise no.

Yes, I'm basing this off some pictures. Yes, I'm basing this off an extensive review video.
I have a whole F'ing lot of Transformers. I've been looking at them and judging them for years.
These look like crap.
This is coming from the guy who literally wrote the book on, "You should probably have it in hand to make a judgment." Perhaps they'll be nice toys to have in hand, but they still look like crap. Hasbro took a risk with this design aesthetic. It missed the mark.

I like them as scout figures, but not the combined mode. I may have to find another use for the drones.

+1 , Since i 1st say them it was a nay.

Hasbro purposely made these as cheap as they could so they could crank out a bunch of crap figures, sprinkle in a few decent ones, and hope all the kids and collectors would buy multiple packs in order to get decent looking/stable combined modes. Cause really, the limbs on these things look horrid, and as vehicles youre better off just getting some hot wheels.
Speaking of the limbs, can we ditch the stupid claw hands already? Its one thing to have a bot here or there who has a claw hand, but do we really need to have both hands and nearly all the bots with lobster hands?

I really don't wanna buy two sets and break out the spray paint just to have a viable decent "Aerialbot" set.

It's sad because helicopters are my favorite alt mode, and these are blech.

The face molds on these aren't great either. I think you could get all of them and make one decent combined bot, but then have a lot of worthless plastic laying around.
Did anyone else get a G2 Smokescreen/Cyberjets vibe from Skyburst? Transformation is almost the same with the extra parts in the extened backpack.
Again, not my cup of tea, but I can see my 5 year old really digging these.

It is in homage to them. So yeah, the Aerialbots? Garbage. Combaticons are okay at best. The two-packs look like where it's at so far.
