Movie first, toys second. The hologram shellgame looks good on screen, and Mirage is a cooler name for an illusionist spy robot in disguise.

"Jazz" is unfortunately one typo away from offensive, so not a great choice for lead bot.

And also, Jazz was a 932 in G1, not a 911. Yes it's the same manufacturer, but that's like confusing Ratchet and Ironhide's altmodes in the 07 movie because the Topkick and Hummer were both made by GM.

Jazz was a 935 in G1

As this is one of the coolest alt modes I've seen, I'll buy this figure for sure.

Can't wait to get that big kitty!

Typo, but thank you. Point is that he was not a 911 outside of the IDW comics:

Edit:

Of course, the obvious reason they couldn't name this character Jazz is because we already watched him die in 2007. Without a reboot, that would sort of sour audience attachment to the character.

This movie takes place in the '90s (1992 according to the casting sheet), Jazz is still alive somewhere out there.

Question for anyone, are we really supposed to think Mirage is the same character as Dino? Saying Dino is Mirage because that was the working name that ended up on some merch and games before being established in the movie as Dino is like saying Devastator and Brawl are the same character because of those screwed up subtitles.

Personally I do think "Dino" is Mirage because of how many times the character is referred to as Mirage - including the very sequel, Age of Extinction, where Attinger's playing card uses the name Mirage to refer to the Ferrari 458 Italia Autobot.
Even merch made after the film, the Cyberverse Legion toy, also use the name Mirage. (I know it's not the grandest of things, but I still think it counts.)
So I'd say I'm content with Dino at least being considered a nickname even if it wasn't listed like Wheeljack's was thanks to Ferrari themselves.

Yes, and without a reboot to avert his fate in 2007, that would sort of sour audience attachment to the character in 1992. It's hard to get attached to someone who has an especially disappointing death ahead of him.

Honestly, did you really think someone on this board somehow missed the part where this movie is a prequel?

I'm glad Dino is his own guy (or at least that's how I choose to see it) since him being Mirage would have been such a random nameslap. I know nameslaps are a thing, but man this Ferari guy with an Italian accent as Mirage would have been just a G1 name for the sake of it (would have been similar to Hot Rod). At least here while Mirage turns into a porsche, he does have a similar colour scheme and the powers reflect the name/G1 bio. So while still a live action version of the character and not the G1 character brought to life, he's more Ironhide/Starscream than HotRod/Skids.

As for the toy, yikes, that really does not look like the character model. I don't find the chest area recognizable at all.

It doesn't really matter since the status of this film within a chronology of live action transformers film is purposefully ill defined. I know fans debate about it but that's not looking at the bigger picture that the main consumers of this big budget film have had no clear indication of how this film relates to the other ones aside from throughline character cues like Bumblebee's look and the way he speaks.

So yeah, having Jazz would make them think of the other film, since we do have Bumblebee right there as well. Not sure about attachment but they clearly want this porches character to be a new character with no relation to the Jazz people may know, hence why he isn't Jazz.

Really? So is this a prequal or a reboot? It makes no sense for this to be a prequal, for example, bumblebee's design. He nearly doubles height, gets a creepy face, looses his "chubby sneaker" aesthetic and changes personality. He also seems to forget all about Charlie? :BANG_HEAD: This goes for every character, I get that the cybertron scene was rushed at the end, and that's why we got the g1 designs, but it's still cannon right? I might take a break from all of this. :HEADHURTS:

Freezer just looks so neat, something ideal for a troopbuilder for the Terrorcons. This is the kind of approach that could allow for Decepticon protoforms for troopbuilders.

i will get at least 3, at least one to stand alone and a couple for Terrorcon weapon modes or turrets. And maybe even more to pair up with the retail release RotB figures and the SS figures.

And Mirage looks great, looks like a fun toy. I like how it looks, and licensed Porsche is awesome. I continue to get all kinds of excited for the movie and the toys.

This is actually incorrect.

The chest appears to be the real front of the car, just the lower part, not the whole thing ala G1 datsun. You can see the top on his back. The feet are actually made of the rear bumper.

Where are you getting all that?

We have no confirmation that Bee's personality has gone through a major shift; and while Wheeljack does undeniably look different than before, Bee, Arcee and Prime look like an evolution of their Bumblebee movie designs.

I disagree, if this were the same character as the Jazz from the first movie that would actually be a good thing for the character. In the movie Jazz was as 1 dimensional as a character can get and the most memorable thing he did was die. If he were to appear in a prequel, even if his scenes were minimal, it would actually add some much needed weight to his later fate.

Honestly, did you really think someone on this board somehow missed the part where this movie is a prequel?

Yes, absolutely yes. Not everyone here follows the movie info that closely before the movie and the trailers have done really nothing to reflect the time period it takes place in. Compared to the Bumblebee Movie trailer which exudes 80s, the ROTB trailer could take place any time in the last 30 years doing very little to pass it off as being set in the 90s unless you're paying very close attention.

There are new rumours afoot for upcoming 2024 Transformers toys. This time however, we don't have confirmation from shipment records or vendor lists so there is no consensus on which particular version of a character the list below may be referring to, so that has been removed to avoid confusion. We will update if this list turns out to either be fake or further confirmed. The list was first published on the TFW2005 website.

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE MOHAWK
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE RUMBLE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE STARSCREAM
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX SCORPINOCK
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX SUNSTREAKE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX WFC SIDESWIPE (High Moon game)
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY WFC STARSCREAM (High Moon game)
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY 86 SCRAPHEAP
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY SHOCKWAVE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR MEGATRON
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR TF86 SWOOP

And yes, while Hasbro did specify that Swoop would be the same size as the other Dinobots on Instagram, some fans were still being worrywarts, so hopefully this list helps in that regard.

Are we finally getting a leader TLK Megatron? And Voyager Shockwave? Gotta be SS 86...can't see the logic in releasing a Voyager movieverse when they've already done a leader.

Starscream and Scorponok must be repacks...unless it's going to be Energon Scorpy?

SS Sunstreaker? He made like a 3 second cameo in the 86 movie...

And MOHAWK?!?!? FInally!

For Shockwave, it could be the BB movie shockwave, that's one of the few bots from that intro we didn't get to fit with the rest yet. Really not sure about Megatron, but I don't think it will be TLK.

Well, I'm glad to see Mohawk but man, that's an incredibly depressing roster.

I was holding onto hope that 2024 would be better than 2023 for Bayverse stuff since we only have a single core repaint in the mainline for the entireity of this year, and hopefully we'll see more Bayverse at the end of 2024, but that lineup is super disappointing to see.

Like, I could tolerate 86 when we were still getting a handul of Bay figures a year (like 2022) but now between 86 and the WFC games for some reason, we're down to getting a single core figure a year when we still have a big part of the Bay roster to get through.

It's difficult to say because it didn't pan out when I said it recently for 2023, but man, I have to hope there's more Bay stuff at the end of 2024.

What about Deluxe Scorponok? That can only be the Movie version, since no other Scorponok has appeared in a movie, and there wasn't a Scorponok in the High Moon Studios games.

So, some notes.

First of all, looking at TFW, it appears that the Voyagers and Leaders have Target listings in a picture on their article, and JTPrime just posted the product numbers and EANs, so it seems like this is definitely all legit.

Second (and perhaps most importantly), the leakers & people with insider info over there appear to be repeating the notion that some of these listings that say "MV6" (which is how they denote Bumblebee) are actually mislabeled SS86 products (which happened in the past with at least SS86 Core Wheelie, don't remember if it impacted anyone else). For those who haven't looked over there for the full listings, that means the following:
-Megatron is either a figure based off of I guess concept art of him for Bumblebee (which should exist since we know he was planned and then cut from the film), or he's G1 Megs (still with a tank mode according to Q&A commentary from the past)
-Shockwave is either a Voyager/properly-sized version of his Bumblebee design (which I think is most likely), or is some kind of SS86 release (would probably have to be a new mold to emit the Siege bits and fit at Voyager?)
-Sunstreaker is either a design they made up out of nowhere as a hypothetical of "what if he was in Bumblebee" (or he has concept art we don't know about), or is SS86 (which makes more sense to me, both due to his nonexistent connection to Bumblebee and because Mark said in a Q&A that he knows ER Sunstreaker's colors don't match and expressed interest in fixing it)
-Rumble is a mystery no matter what, since he should include the PR label if he's a rerelease of the SS86 Rumble that already exists, but he doesn't, but also he's another bot that wasn't actually in Bumblebee (and he shouldn't just be a red version of that SS86 Rumble, since we have SS866 Frenzy on the docket for this year, unless that listing is also wrong?)
-Core Starscream could technically be SS86 too, but since Core G1 Screamer already exists, and we already had a rumor that a Core of Bumblebee Screamer was on the way, this one is probably labeled correctly

...I'm going to bed now.

The news story should be updated to include the part of the listings that says what movie the toy is from.

Megatron and Sunstreaker are definitely just mislabeled SS86. Man, I hope future waves are more bay-inclusive, it's getting way too G1 here.

And hey, maybe that MV7 Scorponok (spelled scorpinock in the listing) is a spoiler??? There's a drawing of a scorpion in the promotional material for Rise of the Beasts, even though the Predacons haven't been mentioned nor shown in the trailers. Because if it was 2007 Scorponok, it should be a core class, right?

For Sunstreaker, nothing really. Shockwave is probably the Bumblebee movie one. But Megatron is a Leader class, AND he's being released on the 40th anniversary, so he's probably a new mold, if he's SS86.

It's not rumored, I just wildly speculated and wishfulfilled because it says MV7 on the listing, which is Rise of the Beasts, lol. Could just be a 2007 misnomer or something. Megatron says MV6, so he's either based on Bumblebee concept art, or SS86 miscategorized, like it happened with Wheelie.

Nothing of note really, be nice if it is a reissue of Sunstreaker. Even if he barely appeared in the 86 Movie getting him back out again is the main thing, and they seem to need filler for SS86 these days.

Shockwave being a Voyager shocks me, I just don't know how they pull that off if it's the Siege leader figure. So it's most like some other garbage version from a lackluster source.

It's interesting how people constantly complain about the lack of Bay Bots, my guess is that Hasbro simply releases what sells the most. I also feel the further we get from those horrible movies and move into new ones the less you'll see figures from the Bay movies.

Yeah, but Scorponok and Megatron aren't, are they? I thought the point of SS was movie characters.

They could just sell the base figure without the armor pieces

I wonder if it's a big spoiler for Megs and Scorpy appearing in RotB. Either Predacon Megs or the unused BB design (or likewise a spoiler for that particular Megs appearing). Or hell, maybe even both Megs appear.

That or it's probably just simply not it and could just be referring to something else. Fun!

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE MOHAWK

While I was never that keen on Mohawk as a character, if a Core 2007 Movie Frenzy never happens, I suppose I could get this as something of a stand-in. This listing also gives me hope that Onslaught could still happen.

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX SUNSTREAKE

Assuming this is 1986 Movie Sunstreaker, I was hoping something like this would happen. I missed out on Earthrise Sunstreaker when it was new, and the after-market prices for it are ridiculous now, so a new version that perhaps fixes the original's two different yellows problem would be fantastic. Once I have this, Ratchet, and that Buzzworthy Bumblebee Hound we saw a while ago (assuming it's still on the way), I'll have my G1 Autobot shelf to a point where I'd be pretty much happy with it.

We don't yet know of every single Transformer who is to appear in the movie. We never know that before the release of any TF movie.

But that would require the severe alteration of the mold in order to get an alt mode. Siege Shockwave requires the extra pieces to complete his alt mode, even if it is a really pointless and dumb design that we never actually saw in the show.

Recall that Shockwave was one of the candidates for the Power of the Primes fanvote, which had he won would have seen him gain a super mode like the other Leader class toys of that line. Chances are the armored up form of Siege Shockwave was carried over from the concept of POTP Shockwave.

And at least Takara used it as an upgrade for Cartoon Shockwave.

This time however, we don't have confirmation from shipment records or vendor lists so there is no consensus on which particular version of a character the list below may be referring to, so that has been removed to avoid confusion. We will update if this list turns out to either be fake or further confirmed. The list was first published on the TFW2005 website.

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE MOHAWK
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE RUMBLE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES CORE STARSCREAM
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX SCORPINOCK
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX SUNSTREAKE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX WFC SIDESWIPE (High Moon game)
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY WFC STARSCREAM (High Moon game)
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY 86 SCRAPHEAP
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY SHOCKWAVE
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR MEGATRON
TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR TF86 SWOOP

And yes, while Hasbro did specify that Swoop would be the same size as the other Dinobots on Instagram, some fans were still being worrywarts, so hopefully this list helps in that regard.

Please let that Sunstreaker be SS-86 and be using the Earthrise mold... pretty please....

Shockwave is probably a Bumblebee movie full sized voyager shockwave., not SS-86 or siege minus the accessories.

Megatron is a bit strange. We already have all Megatron's from the movies. Unless they are finally doing Last Knight figures, and it's an update of the Jet Megs.

Which still was the best thing to come out of that toyline.

I could very much see it being a listing for TLK Megs due to Mohawk's presence there.
Would be nice to have, one of the few designs I liked from that film and the old Voyager/Leader toy could use an update.

You're right. Mohawk is from TLK, so it makes sense Megs might be too.

The "old" Voyager still holds up fairly nicely I'd say, but I would not be opposed to an update that hides the feet better.

Yeah, I still think the Voyager ain't bad by any means, I just think a lil sprinkle of extra engineering to update it would be neato!
Especially with a premium paint job that Studio Series could offer - I didn't find either previous toy lacking but it'd likewise be neat.

I'd very much like for that to be the case, but I think SS TLK Megatron would be a Voyager since Megatron is a little shorter in TLK. With improved engineering and articulation though, it could be possible. Maybe a Staff accessory too?

Actually, including Starscream's head on a TR Headmaster port (like SS DOTM Thundercracker's head) would be an awesome pack-in accessory for either TLK Megatron or Daytrader!

The original listing indicates this leader Megatron as MV6 (Bumblebee), but it's thought to be a typo for 86 so I suppose the identity is up in the air. TLK Would definitely be my pick!

Yeah, I assumed the Leader budget would go towards engineering and paint operations, accessories like that would also be quite nice! I know that how it went for Shockwave who is "Voyager sized" but had a beefy cannon along with other lil additions.

(I also think the Screamer head would be a very fun addition, it'd match up with DotM Megs getting Igor too!)

No he doesn't. The base figure just turns into his normal gun mode without the extra pieces
