The Transformers Robots in Disguise One-Step Changers Advanced Optimus Prime and Strongarm have been popping up in stores in the US. If any of you are mildly interested in knowing what is new or different about this One Step Optimus Prime toy, compared to the previous Target Exclusive one, we have a review for you below courtesy of Chuckdawg1999. To compare and contrast, we also have the review for last year's Optimus Prime One Step toy which is still only obtainable by buying the target exclusive set of Robots in Disguise One Step figures.

Please note that the reviewer does mistaken the two figures, which are indeed different molds entirely, but these videos still serve as a great way to see the toys and how they may compare.

There are no connectors in the US. Only the Takara versions have connectors. You cant connect the US ones to any warrior figure.

So, the Takara minicons have the unicron trilogy connectors? Or are you telling that the Takara RID '15 figures have special connectors that will use whatever holes happen to be in a RID minicon?

Oh, so they are just standard 5mm pegs added on the Takara minicons. Thanks! For what I want to do, I guess I'll have to import some.

The balls and torpedoes can actually peg onto deployer overload's shoulders, if that interests you :MAXIMAL:

I thought so but I don't want to buy that toy twice. Instead, I ordered the TAV44 Sideswipe and Bumblebee with minicons 4 pack.

The Takara minicons have a 5mm peg added and will be perfect for the custom I wanna make. Plus, the figures themselves seem nice. Especially Sideswipe, who seem better than his deluxe counterpart.

Could this custom be of the Hook, Line, and Sinker persuasion :-?

Like, I'm waiting for Ransack, Glacius, Swelter and Back to complete the minicons that showed up in the show, and they are all single releases that have yet to be seen pretty much anywhere. I decided to use weapon slipstream as Jetstorm and I think I can get Airazor fairly cheap, so its those 4. Grr :MAXIMAL:

Me too. We're in that point where nothing new is coming to stores for at least another month, so I'm eager to get minicons, and ones that were on the show to finish out the bunch (and I do love the minis). After I finish off the show bunch then the weapon guys can come :MAXIMAL:

Had to take my laptop in for repairs so I decided to drop in the local Asda to see if there were any Generations Legends I could pick up. There weren't because the UK doesn't know what a "distribution of Transformers" is, but there were some RID 2015 minicons and legends. One of the ones there was Dragonus who I was wanting for a while so I was like screw it, let's get this guy.

Gotta be honest... Kinda disappointed. He is cute and I kind of adore the torpedo mode all weaponed up - looks like it came straight out of mad max - but he... Just doesn't do anything. No articulation of course outside the head waggling a little bit, and the purple translucent things are just kind of on him. I do like him, but not enough to make me not disappointed in dropping £6.50 on him or not getting legends Fixit over him. I mean, cmon, this guy cost me the same as Legends Groove. You can't tell me he's worth even half a legends groove.

So... Yeah. Bit sad because this was my first RID 2015 toy as well as my first time buying in-store since I was a kid. But hey, I have him and there's no going back now, and I kinda like him for what he is. Just wish he was better.

If you can, go back and get that Fixit. That thing is the bomb digity of the legion/minicon line. He will make up for Dragonus, though the minicons are by no means bad, just more cute than functional :MAXIMAL:

Aye, I've heard that right enough. Kinda gutted I didn't pick him up tbh; maybe I'll do that when also picking up my laptop.

Also since this is my first time on the thread (hi guys), scrolled up a bit and saw that the minicons aren't sighted anywhere? At Asda I saw Dragonus (duh), Divebomb, Back, Slipstream and... uh... Blizzard Strike Slipstream, lol. Also saw legion Strongarn patrol mode.

Now I'm not sure if I got an older version lol. I'm not up to snuff on the RiD toys; can I get a rundown on the differences so I don't look like an idiot?

If you saw Back and blizzard slipstream, that is awesome considering those waves are the ones Will and I have waited anxiously for and have yet to show up anywhere! Waves 1 and 2 (which regular Slipstream, Divebomb and Dragonus (nonweapon mode)) have been around a while with no signs of waves 3 and beyond save the 4-packs, so this is good stuff :MAXIMAL:

Darn, you should have gotten weapon dragonus. Because while he still doesnt do much he at least becomes a handheld weapon. But dont worry, I got the same one you fot too and I still think he looks ok. And did you know that those bits of armour can connect with others to make a bonus lion figure?

Oh yeah, they are gonna take a while. That, or like waves 1 and 2 they will all show up at once and we will be spending $60 on minicons  But really though, where the those minis? Even HTS doesn't have them and no one is selling them on ebay :MAXIMAL:

Makes sense. I just wanted to mention the weapon versions since that might give you an added play feature that would maybe add value to these toys for the user.

Am I late? I am so very late.

Just a quick question, really: if you were to get *one* Warrior class figure, between Thunderhoof, Quillfire, Fracture, and Megatronus, which one might you recommend?

Image

Part of me feels I should get the purple bike, but Quillfire calls to me in other ways. Weird ways. Primal ways.

*where's that GIF..?*

I highly recommend Thunderhoof from that lot. He is a strong looking figure that captures the strength of the character, his fork actually becomes the antlers, he has no backpack whatsoever, he is super fun to transform and he looks awesome as a combine. It's a unique altmode that not a lot of transformers pick and he makes it work. His blue looks really nice too and he has a gorgeous head. He's quite posable and, for goodness sake: he is an awesome toy of a cybertronian gangster who has a frikkin brooklyn accent. Buy that guy!

But the other 3 are not bad choices at all. Fracture would be a close second considering just how well he transforms and other bots can ride him and he has an awesome gun. Quillfire is unique and the quills add a lot to him. He looks exactly like he does in the show and he is so awkward and weird that he's loads of fun. Megatronus might be the weakest of the 4 due to some h-tank stuff and his alt mode looking a little weird, but he is still a good figure and one that I'd recommend.

So yes, Thunderhoof: buy him. :MAXIMAL:

It might be the recency effect but I would say Thunderhoof. Its just so original in every way and works. I recomend the Takara version though if thats possible. Fracture is an extremely close second. Then Quillfire (who's fun but not as original in transformation) and then Megatronus.

If I were to Thunderhoof, I would Takara it so hard.
(Yes, I verbed two proper names.)

Ah, sorry about that. His alternate mode is a combine, like Frank from the movie Cars or like you would see on a large farm in the fields.

How many farm-formers do you see around? That is a unique and fun alt mode! :MAXIMAL:

I can mix AGGRO-CULTURE with the certain appeal it holds on me - almost like a tractor beam aimed at my plastic tendencies.

Ooh ooh, another: TRANSFARMERS.

It's just that.. there's so much fertile grounds for puns.
They may be corny, but - in their field - they're outstanding.

Ok, I retract my suggestion that you get Thunderhoof and I instead recommend Fracture. Thunderhoof is giving you way too many puns for me to handle ;) :MAXIMAL:

Oh cripes! Not farming puns. You guys should yield before you sow another row of jokes.

V, think of the gangsta thing like this, he doesn't have an Italian accent, he has a New York accent. All New Yorkers talk like that. Just listen too Megatronus on the podcasts.

No. No. I'm wrong. It's a terrible stereotype.

I shared a '''''bed''''' with him. He is a little bit gangster.
He used me to buy figures. USED ME I tell you.

As did I. :x

I still can't find Thunderhoof at retail. Or Buckwild as I like to call him. He is slated to be released in later waves, yes?

I doubt it'll make it here in the peninsula, but if I'm ordering online, it'll Takara of itself.

Hey cobs, my Walmart here has had Thunderhoof and Quillfire for about the past month, so I would expect them to be seen bucknakedwild here soon in your area!

And just for you Va'al:

So to summarize for those who have been trying to keep up with the last page of posts:

Va'al wants a decepticon
Will and D-Max recommend Thunderhoof
There is brief banter about Brooklyn and botcon and people users
There is country boy material based on Thunderhoof's alt mode
Will ran away scared
Cobo wants RiD cons in the wild where they belong
Va'al is Crazy and potentially country somehow
D-Max is awesome and summarized Va'al's slow decent into insanity.
Vote D-Max 2016 :MAXIMAL:
