Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg1999 has a new video review for us giving us the best look yet at Transformers Adventure TAV VS 05 Battle Mode Jazz & Origin Mode Drift.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Leave it to Takara to give us a set of figures with great paint jobs, and new heads. Jazz is the version of the character fans have wanted for a year, while Drift is an amalgamation of the movie, comic, and animated character. These are fantastic figures and worth a place in your collection.

Cobotron I got that same problem on getting another OP/Convoy into my collection and most times I end up getting it. :-P I did decided to pass up on TAV-21 when I saw first looks at TAV-33.

Thanks for your feedback on this epic looking figure. I'm actually glad TAV-33 doesn't have that lame spring loading gimmick, it doesn't need it. I can't wait when this gets to my doorstep! :VEHI:

What I think happened is the blaster from TAV-21 put a crack in it, that I couldn't see due to the paint, and putting the other weapons in the hand weakened it further. I can probably fix it but I don't have any proper glue in the house and even then, it'll never be usable again.

Had to look at mine after you said that. Mine seems good, for now :BOT:

TakaraTomyMall are holding a giveaway in time for the holidays on their Transformers Adventure line, by adding a free Ratbat minicon/micron to purchases over 3000 Yen. If you're in the minicon addiction club, this probably really interests you - or is bad news. Check out the little critter below!

It has been a while since we were shown something new from Takara's TAV and TED lines, but this should make up for it. Firstly, the Snakas Blog has some new images of the previously reported Legion class figures:

TAV34 EZ collection team Bumblebee VS Megatronus

TAV35 EZ collection Autobots VS Decepticons set

We also got brand new images from TF Yuki for TED16 Big Thunderhoof (based on 3-step thunderhoof):

Lastly, Yuki also gave us a nice look at their version of Warrior Fracture, TAV36:

Are any of these worth going importing? Let us know in the discussion!

Will, I'm telling you, the differences are minimal. You can go for the Hasbro release on this one, and not regret it.

Edit: Ok  upon 2nd inspection, maybe not "minimal", but I think you could save a buck (or beaver) here.
Wow, they did some justice to the minicon shoulder pads. And the stear skull on the fearing of the bike looks tuff. Reminds me of Oil Slick.

Precisely here's the hasbro one:

and here's the TT's version:

Apart from the color on the shoulders and painted detail on the mini-cons and front struts of the bike, you're not actually missing anything...

Does Hasbro's gun have red paint on it too? Its things like that which make me go nuts.

Also, while I like your beaver joke, we actually have loonies which is just as funny but true. Our dollar has a canadian goose on it (I know I know, BIG SHOCK!), and the name of that bird is also a loon, so we call it a loonie. But then we are made fun of for being Looney ;)

#thestruggleisreal

I don't know how I feel about how deep that purple looks, maybe just the way the camera is catching it. I like some of the paint on Hasbro's (red on his tummy and silver on shoulders) and some on Takara's (mo' paint on fakicons and in alt mode) better.

Hasbro's is very nice and I'm very happy with it. Does this help ya Will?

Thanks, I try

I can feel ya on alt mode. I may have to take a paint marker to him. My robrobuddies stay in bot mode except for photo ops and play time, so it's not a big deal for me.

Either way (has or tak), Fracture is an amazing figure for the line. Easily one of the best so far.

My question is does Takara make the kind of money to afford building one-use molds just to appease collector's. I know there's a mark up on it but come on!

Probably enough to break even, they don't seem as bent on profiteering from their consumers as hasbro does.

I dont see how they can. Their other in house designs for TAV are mass market.

So it could be that Hellscream9999 is right and that this isn't just TT but a Hasbro decision... Hasbro Asia. Hasbro Asia makes a nice little markup on Takara Tomy exclusives which it distributes across asia and retailers worldwide. By having TT make it an exclusive in Japan, people outside Japan cannot get this item (at least as easily) and are stuck getting the Hasbro Asia version. It is not hard to wonder if for the higher tcket items (sice it is becoming quite the trend, especially with the Masterpeice toys), the distribution contracts they already have (since TT toys are sold in Hong Kong TRUs through Hasbro Asia) have some new/extra clauses where certain items must be exclusive in Japan.

So in the end, it may be due to agreements with Hasbro Asia that these TT toys are exclusive.

You know what I'd love to see though? A retool of him as Animated Oil Slick. I mean yes, the original toy is perfect as is, but more Animated homages are always welcome.

The originals' shoulders are too restricted, and I would get a retool of rid fracture as oilslick; he's great, you should get a version of him (for once hasbro's is show accurate >:oP )

Animated oil slick is really not that bad an idea. And if it is cheaper, I would strongly recommend hasbro Fracture if it is cheaper. That one is just as good as the takara one :BOT:

Seibertron's Japan correspondent Matt from Japan has just picked up the recently released Transformers Adventures TAV 35 Autobots VS Decepticons set, which should be shipping out now from online retailers. He found this set of four legion class figures at Toysrus for ¥3,499 (which is 29$ US for all four and 7.25$ US each which is the SAME price the Hasbro counterparts sell for in the west). This set includes the Takara versions of Robots in Disguise legion class Optimus, Underbite, Grimlock and Steeljaw.

What is most bizarre though is that at first it seemed like you had to stick those app stickers yourself. There are molded indents on the figures and the faction symbols are found on a separate sheet.

This is what Matt has to say:

While each figure clearly has a space for a faction symbol sticker, they are not stickers at all. The faction symbols are printed on the paper and meant to be scanned individually. The instructions also say nothing about stickers. Guess you gotta get your own?

Matt from Japan

Curiouser and curiouser. In any case, enjoy the photos Matt sent us!

Trying to appeal to the people that hate the "poker chips" as they call them, who pull them off of the figures they buy? Still seems weird that they wouldn't be a sticker for others that don't mind to apply.

So um... ever been a loon or Canadian goose transformer? uH,,, oh crap still not really on topic.. uh.. in the TAV line, any cons with goose or loon like characteristics? Yeah, that's the ticket...

Sorry, just we've got tons of Canadian geese in the pond across the street, and also sometimes loons, and they're very different in many ways, that the photos just won't show, so I wanted to make sure it was pointed out they're different.

Considering that most of these figures have painted details underneath the stickers, and that they were printed on thin, easily removed paper, then I think Takara expected some of their customers to just remove them. That's what I've done for every figure from that line (which are just some of the Generations ones used in the line).

Heck, even the "Ultimate Mode Optimus Prime" has a mechanism to replace the unsightly label with a "correct" Autobot symbol.

Those stickers were not popular. Let's hope that they never use them in subsequent lines.

Yeah, they should go back to the TF Cybertron way of just punching in a code. Sure, the codes are easier to just copy and paste into aps, but it's not like people weren't scanning the RID codes in stores and from photos online anyway. Hasbro, you don't need to ruin decent figures just because you want to show off your latest technology.
