Update for No More Rainchecks Issued for Transformers at Toysrus Canada

UPDATE
It seems it is only select Toysrus stores in the Quebec area. There is no widespread change in the policy, as confirmed by Ontario managers. This seems more like a case of managers passing their own rules as corporate mandate when it isn't the case.

naive UK'er
google def.
a coupon issued to a customer by a store, guaranteeing that a sale item that is out of stock may be purchased by that customer at a later date at the same reduced price.
so basically if the item you want isnt there, they would give you a raincheck with the sale price on it. so when you come back and find the item you want you can get it for the sale price since the sale most likely wouldve expired by then.

Kurona wrote:Call be naive, but what exactly is a raincheck?
I raincheck is typically a small paper form that a retailer will fill out when they have a sale on an item, but are out of stock for that item. It basically extends the sale price to some future date (30 days, 90 days, etc.) so that when the item is in stock again, you can get it at the sale price even if the sale is over.

I am, big time. It will have to go back to the old system now of seeing the toy in the store and waiting for the deal rather than getting it right away with my raincheck.
The thing Kurona (and this may be why they did this) is that all Transformers of a certain class in a line have the same number. So even if Wolfwire and Breakaway are different toys, TRU will see them as the same item. So I would ask for a raincheck for the item number and get a coupon that said I had 90 days to get a deluxe for, say, $10. And then I would be able to get the new deluxe right away for $10 when I found him in a store (even though he technically had not come out yet when the sale was on). So that was fun. but now its over. it will be like the states and the UK now where I have to wait for a sale to get the item I want and I will be restricted to what their selection.

This was learnt first hand as I walked into Toysrus today, seeking a raincheck for the deal they had on Titans Return leader toys (at $35 CAD), and was told that corporate has decided that rainchecks will no longer be given for Transformers items. There has allegedly been some foul play involving rainchecks and it got bad enough that Toysrus Canada has decided to stop this practice entirely. This was discovered in Quebec so let us know if you hear the same at your local Canadian Toysrus.

Until corporate has any policy changes distributed in writing, the existing written policy from corporate always overrides whatever 'rules' a store manager or employee decides on. Make sure to contact corporate when a store won't follow existing rules/policy.

Sure? Because at that price, I may buy it again if I happen upon it in stores.

Man, I wish we had thundercracker. We only have starscreams and skywrps in Quebec and Ontario.
By the way guys, I was checking on amazon and dear lord, some of their prices are awful. CW Legends Thundercracker sold from amazon.ca is 14.99$ WTF?!

The Hasbro version of course.
Should of bought him when I had the chance at Walmart now it's just the remains of wave 1 which is mostly Galvatron, Blurr and Scourge.
Good news is that Lethbridge has a lot of Blaster and Powwrmaster Primes here.

I am pretty sure he will come back. Look, I am going to walmart tomorrow, would you like me to get you a Chromedome if I find him? Shipping would be like 10$ or something, so it would be about 30$ or so plus tax.

Out on Walmart.ca for $149.99, if anyone is still interested in combiner wars still.
www.walmart.ca/en/ip/transformers-gener ... 0196148811
It is labeled as a platinum edition.

Thank you for the offer Will I would love to get him but I only have a spare 10 dollars to use right now it was just my Birthday but I used some money to get the last Skullcrusher I could find (The one wave one deluxe that's rare in my area for some reason)
All of my other money has to go to other things and I just got some American money to get a Walgreen's Brainstorm when I go to the States in 3 weeks.
Thank you Will I'll think about it next time when I get more money I should be getting some soon.
Quick question do you think there will be any black friday sales on Transformers?

His wave mates were there too as well as the first time I have seen wave two deluxes (decepticon cassettes)
Unfortunately still no Alpha Trion or Astrotrain here.

Deadput wrote:I went to one of our Walmarts today after I got some money they were unloading wave two deluxes here in Lethbridge I immediately bought Chromedome just in case he is gone by black Friday.
Black Friday never has sales on standard figures. Its usually higher ticket items or store exclusives and stuff like that. Last year, the only deal at walmart was for those platinum seekers.

But they were already out for a while, they just hadn't reached everywhere yet (and still havent really). People were more scared about the deluxes. And anyways, its the general restock. If someone can send me a pic of what I posted but in a US store, I would be more than happy to make a seperate article talking about a US restock in the TR thread.

That or this is a different metro area. I know for a fact that TRU in the city of Seattle has higher costs for things than the TRU's in surrounding areas. (Same thing with Target and Walmart)

Canadian prices are higher then the US due to exchange rates.

Of course but I meant just as a comparison to the States alone.
Also would the Walgreen's Brainstorm show up anywhere here in Canada or do I have to go to the states?

Yeah, in Philly it's the same way though they did have wave 2 deluxes at Walgreens for over a month now but for $20.
Since Walmart is just finally getting wave 2 figures in I'm glad I PO'd wave 3 of the legends class figures due out this month. The other wave 3 classes wont likely see retail until 2/2017 which I'm in no real rush for anyway (except for maybe Sixshot)

As a fellow PA-er, I feel ya. barely any Transformers to be found, and still not up to date.

I was just in Philly (and just got back), but I didn't see a single Wave 2 deluxe. Only saw wave 1 stuff, and I went to a few Walgreen's, and a TRU

I've had like no luck at TJ Rossalls stores, but I think asking someone in Canadia to ship me a Sky Lynx would wind up pretty expensive after import fees. Sigh.

Just be patient I found some wave 2 deluxes in Walmart outside of Hamburg today (only 2 left from the case), but once I find them their, I usually start seeing then around at the bigger cities.
