Ah, that seeker Thundercracker. He's certainly been at the center of controversy for the past few years. Whether it's been with BotCon '07, Henkei, or Generations, he's made seeker collectors and completionists scratch their heads. In regards to the Animated toy line, Thundercracker's fate is certainly a sad one. Takara never had the intentions of taking the figure under their wing, and Hasbro never pulled the trigger after the figure's production with fellow wave mate Mudbuster Bulkhead.
And here we are today. Likely a holy grail to many, Animated Voyager Thundercracker is only in the hands of the select few. You could be one of the few if you are the winner of this auction for Animated Voyager Thundercracker, from ebay user deceptigar. Happy bidding!

I'd love to fight you for it, but that price is already too rich for my blood.

Blackout was an original mold that time and development money had been put into but had not been released while Thundercracker was a repaint of a mold already released a few times?
In other words, HasTak wanted some return on the Blackout mold while the Seeker mold had already paid for itself?

Although I guess it's not that surprising-this is just about as exclusive as a figure can get...

If Thundercracker does get released, I'll eat my own intestinal track.

Still, this is tempting me to waste a lot of what little money I have on lotto tickets.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that the higher this thing's price soars, the more appropriate it is for the character's personality?

Am I missing something? Is it the same or maybe its the packaging? I got one coming and I didn't a crazy price for him.

I <3 Warudaros. My childhood one is smashed so badly he can't combine anymore.

That's a bit drastic. Don't do that. When I go back to the sunshine state you'll miss out on coffee time discussions of Transformers with me and Flux...because you're breath will be terribly poopy and we won't invite you.

The one on TF Source is the Takara Activators Thundercracker.
The figure being bidded on is the unreleased Voyager Starscream repaint. (There was no official Voyager Thundercracker released...this is a prototype/test figure.)

The original release of Starscream I had always intended to paint him in his G1 colors, and I always wanted to do a Thundercracker repaint as well.
Now I just need to hit the dollar store to pick up some pos KOs to practice on.

Except they`ll end up looking like garbage and nothing like how the original should be. Plus they`re fake. Plus they`re knockoffs.

It all depends on who makes them. The CHMS seekers have turned out better than my official Has/Tak releases. With KOs its kind of like gambling though, you could end up with an awsome figure or a loose piece of plastic that falls apart if you look at it the wrong way.

USA all the way! KO/Henkei, doesn't have the durability.

I agree, look how long it took for classics Thundercracker. If anything maybe a Botcon or club release.

While some KO's may be garbage, anything by CHMS is the real deal. On par with the originals. Besides I dont pledge allegiance to any one company, I collect G1 characters and gladly support anyone who gives me a realistic shot at owning them.
I also got another idea :
With a little blue dye and a Hasbro Animated Starscream, it shuld be easy to create a quality version of Thundercracker. Blue dye will turn the lavender plastic to dark blue, the red paint apps should turn purple, and I suppose the black wrists and feet wont be affected or can be removed while dying. Should be easy as long as you can remove the cockpit to keep it yellow.

However, gying Plastic is quite easy. I'm going to be making a WFC Soundblaster soon by dying the plastic.
I may do that with a Starscream for a Thundercracker if I get bored.

Also... Damn, I realize it's rare but that auction price is just too absurd for me.

Well my KO arguement will go on till the end of time.
I could actually afford this figure right now. But its not a matter of money, its a matter of principle for me. This figure is only collectible because somebody made it that way. It is not an antique that earned its value by surviving the battle with father time. Collecting should be about fun, not value. Theres plenty of stocks and bonds out there for people who are looking to invest $1000 for profit. Thundercracker is for the people.
But if you do dye a Starscream, please post some pics. Id love to see how he comes out.

This isn't a collectible because someone "made it that way", it's because Animated was dead and cancelled an stores wouldn't carry any more to have more space for movie TFs.

OFF-TOPIC:
A KO is fine, if you know hat it is before hand, and you don't have 3, 4 or 5 digits to pay for a toy. If the KO will suit your needs than go for it. I don't like KO's either. I'm particular about that, but I won't knock a collector for getting one, as long as he is aware that it is a KO, and/or not trying to pass it off as the real deal to scam a buyer, then sure why not.
I like getting stuff for cheap. Really there is no justification for a KO ever, but copying has happened since the dawn of time.
I say in the end to each his own, and good luck.
TOPIC:
Again, it feels like 2007....
Since I really don't collect animated due to the first batch having QC issues, I wouldn't even care. Has/Tak could release the toys if they want, they just don't want to. Until the movie franchise comes to a close, movie verse will be it. HTC, TFCC could easily have sold this. We know it, it's just the way we expect HasTak to work with the releases SS, TC, SW. Then they could have done the others, but HasTask is so odd with scale, we get voyager here, activator there, deluxe here. I just don't care anymore.
$1000 could get me a lot of figures I'm missing.
