If anyone as a kid (or a grown up kid) wanted to visit an actual Metrobase this is your chance. Here's the press release from Slashfilm.com
"Transformers: Metrobase
Another theme park debut is an entire land dedicated to Transformers. While there have been Transformers rides at theme parks before, this is the first time an entire land has been dedicated to the property. Transformers: Metrobase will put on in Metrobase, a titan robot that is actually the size of city.
This part of the park will feature Cybertronian architecture, and there’s even a whole narrative behind the base’s existence. Metrobase settled here because it’s rich with Energon, making it the perfect place for N.E.S.T. headquarters in Beijing. It looks like there will be a Transformers roller coaster that is actually a clone of the Incredible Hulk roller coaster at Universal’s Island of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. The video makes it appear that Transformers: The Ride from other Universal Studios locations will be brought over there too."
And adding a bit more attraction to this already awesome vacation destination is this brief rundown from Attraction Magazine:
"Transformers: Metrobase is based on Hasbro’s Transformers franchise, and is the first theme park land in the world dedicated to the IP. An expanded story was created for the character Metrobase, who is a titan (a robot the size of a city). Alongside top Chinese scientists, Metrobase chose this Energon-rich location to serve as the N.E.S.T. Beijing headquarters – a top-secret, high-tech area where an alliance between Autobots and humans was developed to protect Earth. The land is packed with Cybertronian architecture and advanced technology to create an immersive experience for “guest agents.” From the looks of the concept art, it also includes a Transformers-themed clone of the Incredible Hulk roller coaster from Universal’s Island of Adventure in Orlando."

What’s next Hasbro, you going to be like the NBA and start censoring how we’re allowed to talk about the IP at home when China owns the purse strings and doesn’t like where you’re coming from?
Don’t be evil like Communism. Just pretend that this place never existed. And pray for China’s people. It’s not a free people who get to “enjoy” this luxury they’ve built to impress you.

I will not be traveling to a country that harvests live organs from its political prisoners and puts millions of Communism’s opponents and religious dissidents in concentration camps in order to “revel in an IP”, and anyone who would for short term personal gain needs to re-examine their personal moral compass.

Me three...erm, make that four. Someone needs to do a fan comic where Metrobase turns out to be a secret plot to rebuild Metrotitan so the Decepticons can conquer Earth, then hand the reins over to China once they've stolen all the fossil fuels. Even if it's unofficial, posting it online should be enough to get president Xi to scuttle this thing before it's off the drawing board.Mr.MicroMaster wrote:Acolyte wrote:I just want to say clear as day, before anyone confuses the underlying motives here: no. Get a decent artist and call it 'Solar Adventure Part II', and I'll bang out a script by Monday! Or at least crowdfund it.
