Considering how wheels are used as decoration in bot mode, and their prominence in vehicle mode, you'd be amazed at how much it makes a figure pop

They did, hence why Hasbro Trailbreaker has painted hubcaps, and thats probably the same toy we see in the pic.

Nope, it's because it shares paint apps with it's mold-mates, one reason why both ironhide and offroad have them, and first aid doesn't. Rook didn't have them, and neither swindle nor hound have them (hound arguably has no paint apps) The only ones to go against this are breakdown into wheeljack, and streetwise into Prowl

Either way, painted hubcaps really need to be a standard, the last two waves of cw had some appalling lack of paint apps, and rid is little better

Fellow Seibertronians, hot on the heels of his reveal, and courtesy of fellow fan Taylor Ivie, we now know that TakaraTomy Mall have put up official images of the newly rechristened Unite Warriors EX Lynx Master. It shows the team off in their combined form as well as in their individual modes, and seems to indicate that Ratchet will include Rooks weapon accessory as well as Trailbreaker having a painted hand/foot/gun accessory. The site further states that it will retail for 16,200 Yen. The images can be seen below, and, as always, leave your thoughts and comments below.

He's no longer called "Sky Reign". The combined form of Captain Modesty is now called Lynx Master (リンクスマスター rinkusumasuta).

Combat units have colored rims, usually something in drab military colors, as do civil service vehicles, firetrucks have normal chromed rims, like cars...

Wheeljack looks MUCH better with the chest paint. The black shoulders and forearms also help to break up the boringness. He also pops better in white instead of whatever off-white color Hasbro put out.

I would have far and away preferred getting that Ratchet over Smokescreen.

In this case I like more SkyLinx from Hasbro

Sky Lynx himself doesn't look all that different from Hasbro's, but the added paint on all of the limb-bots really make them pop!

Takara has knocked it out of the park with Sky Reign/Lynx Master. Everything about it is an improvement over Hasbro's release. You can't even quibble on the color choices either, like some do with UW Bruticus, or the mold choices, like with CW vs. UW Computron. Now, let's just hope this isn't the most expensive Unite Warriors release yet.

That's what has me a little worried. I buy from online importers like TFSource and BBTS. The going price for previous Unite Warriors Takara-Tomy Mall exclusives was about $159 after all the middle men and mark ups are figured in. I wouldn't be surprised if Lynx Master ends up being about $179 or more at such stores in the US what with it being a "double exclusive" in Japan.

Afraid not. All Unite Warriors releases have been sets of 5, except for Grand Scourge. If anything, it'll be Smokescreen that gets a special TT redeco, just to throw Japanese fans a little bone.

Mmmmm, these are delicious. Not sure I'm too big on the name - Sky Reign is just better - but who cares? This is awesome. I'm almost tenpted to have that Wheeljack as my classics one over the Generations guy.

Sweet Primus, those decos look gorgeous! Wheeljack went from one of the worst looking Transformers in recent memory to absolutely superb. Hound and Trailbreaker look great too. And that Ratchet...

Ugh, it's a pity I've sworn off official combiners because these look awesome. If it weren't for the price I'd happily buy the set and just have them as individual robots.

It is. All the other UW combiners were 15000 yen on TTMall, this one is higher by about 12$.

Lynxmaster looks great, I'm going to get one as soon as it becomes available. Ratchet does look a bit plain, but I'm just happy that the figure exists at all. I'm not really fond of Trailbreaker or Wheeljack, they look a bit too cartoon accurate for my liking, I have Hasbro Combiner Wars Wheeljack (with Reprolabels) already, and I think I like Hasbro's Trailbreaker a little bit more.

I agree. I am also not saying that Hasbro's Wheeljack is better, just saying that I am not head over heals for Takara's. I never cared for Sky Reign as a combiner to begin with so Takara coming out with their super exclusive version which is slightly better than Hasbro's in terms of some paint apps isn't all that impressive to me. I am really curious how many people will actually still be getting this guy when the price from importers is revealed. Unlike Grand Galvatron, we do have a local option with a different limb, as per usual.

I'm glad I can skip this one and buy only Sky Lynx, since there are no new molds. I'll wait for both UW Bruticus and Computron, those look great. And I think I'll go dor the G2 Menasor set, I bought the Optimus Maximus (missing Prowl and Ironhide), the Motormaster mold it's not bad on hand but not worth all that money.

May mayhem 2017 might have Hasbro introduce the CW Ratchet figure who knows. Still, this is nice. I can get CW Smokescreen now, and await the release of Lynx Master.

I'd like to say that since Ratchet was a convention exclusive in the US, probably not. Then again, there was that Botcon Thundercracker, Thrust, and Dirge that all got released in the US after Takara released (slightly remolded) versions of Thrust and Dirge. One can hope.

On the other hand, it looks like I will have a $150 Ratchet coming... (Well, I love how Wheeljack looks, so will probably replace him on my shelf too.)

Well, after I get this set, my son will have his own hasbro combiner of silverbolt, rook, wheeljack, hound, and trailbreaker, so it works out well for him. Not so much for my pocket book.

You Know, I'd just like to actually find Sky Lynx in the stores at some point here. It's almost getting to the point of having to order the Takara Versions just to get the figures.

I'm not too impressed with this set If I'm honest, sky lynx isn't that different and the others aren't that different for me and rachet isn't a necessity. also wheeljack looks quite boring there, it needs the green.

This set doesn't really impress me. I like Hasbros sky lynx better, Wheeljack and Trailbreaker with repro labels look better to me than these ones. Really the only two I want are ratchet and hound. So, that being said I'm still buying the set for those two. If anyone's interested in the rest of, or parts of it and a Hasbro hound with reprolabels let me know!

THANK YOU! I thought I was alone. I really feel many of us are a bit blinded by the exclusivity/recency and the fact that this once again has a toy the US version didnt come with. It feels like UW Defensor all over again.

It was Hasbro which imposed the Ratchet head onto fun pub to use because they werent going to release it. Same with Reflector. They gave it to them because there was no plan for a retail release on theri part. So, Ratchet has as much chance as a retail Hasbro release as Rflector, take that as you wish.

While the alt mode suits him, his robot mode looks off with the back kibble, he really doesnt look like Ratchet aside from the head. If he was on a retail shelf in the same wave as Ironhide and wasnt an exclusive, would you still feel the same way? Or is it that you just really like Ratchet? But even then, his colours are totally different from IDW Ratchet to the point that both could be seen as different characters:

That Ratchet is pretty, but the slight increase of paint apps doesn't justify the near 50% price increase.
