It's a new mold. Without the armor, he is nowhere near as detailed as the ROTF Leader Prime.

You're lucky. That's under half of what we'd have to pay in Norway.

Leader Ironhide and Bumblebee riddle me to this day...
Posted by Autobot032 on June 19th, 2011 @ 5:14pm CDT
I can't like this thing, no matter how much I try.
I don't mind the vehicle mode and I really like the Mechtech weapon, but the robot modes are just trash to me.
If Jetwing Optimus comes here, or the import goes on sale for a reasonable price, I might bite. This just doesn't do it for me, and until something changes...the Cyberverse trailer n' fig will have to do. (Not a complaint, mind you. A really nice figure set for $15.00...)

Would importing help keep the costs low? If so, I'm sure a member would be willing to help you.
Starscream GaGa wrote:The saddest thing is that $89 is regular retail for Leaders here in Australia... And our dollar is worth more!
That sounds like opportunists taking advantage. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a screw job and it's not fair.
joevill wrote:Wow only 6.25% sales tax?
6% here in PA. I know some states are even lower. If I remember correctly, Idaho doesn't even have sales tax. We also have no sales tax on clothing or food. Fast food does, but that's because we're paying for the service, not the item.
EDIT: I was incorrect about Idaho. Alaska, and a few others (some will surprise you), has no sales tax. You can see the eye opening list that I googled, here: http://www.money-zine.com/Financial-Pla ... Tax-Rates/

No, From what I see it was bought at a comic store. They will add a little extra just for that alone. I talked to a guy who worked there a few months back about DOTM line and his was arriving in the middle of April. The prices were a little higher then what you find at walmart, target, and TRU. but people will buy it to be some of the first.
Not that they were that much higher, but a few bucks here and there adds up on there end.

Yeah I suppose. With that kind of price tag you expect him to be bigger than Ultimate BB >.<...As for the HA Prime...Chances are we wont get one cause of the size issue and what-not.
On topic...Damn this guy look worse than Kre-O Optimus in BOTH mode !!! Here's some cons I saw atleast from the video :-
1) The trailer is FAR from the truck...It's supposed to be closer.
2) 80-90$ for an Optimus that doesnt even look close like the CGI!? Seriously the robot mode looks far worse than the first Movie Voyager >.>...
3) HUGE monkey-like arms...
4) Small for a 80-90$ price tag...
5) Damn simplistic transformation...
6) The trailer is pretty much useless in alt mode...
And I got all that just from watching the Transformation video...Imagine if I were going to check the first video...The cons will pile up so much that it will make people who buy this piece of crap feels like a piece of crap...

IMO, I like to think of Peaugh as a Professional Reviewer - this guy's more of doing it casually.

Can I dream along with you? Not to sound cynical, but cash and time spent designing this figure could've gone into a HA prime. With Peter Cullen and David Kaye as human partners thrown in.
I don't like this figure, but I'm interested. I'll pick him up if I manage to get a hefty discount; in M'sia, this thing would probably go for $100.

I me be the only one but I don't consider giant kibble flaps pointing upward a valid contribution to height measurement.

When Takara anounced Voyager OP with trailer, everybody complained that the toy was a crap because the trailer was a useless weapons-cabinet in robot-mode.
Now that Hasbro releases Ultimate Prime with a trailer that actually transforms into something (battle armor + wings),
the toy is a crap because the trailer is useless in vehicle-mode (i.e. other TFs cannot be transported inside).
So, what do you guys want ? I am myself reasonably satisfied with both Takara's Jetwing OP and Hasbro's Ultimate OP besides the imperfections. After all, any design is constrained by trade-offs.
By the way, is Ultimate Prime painted in silver or is it just bare gray plastic ? What about the trailer paint-apps ?

I am not even sure Prime has this mode in the film...
(thanks for the review though, it was at least interesting to see)

Absolutely. Peaugh probably gets more hits from this site, than most anywhere else. Heck he even gets the odd add planted in front of his reviews.

I definately pay this much or around for a HA Prime, especially if it came with a trailer.

These are the times where I think Hasbro is better off leaving Transformers to TOMY in Europe and North America.

I completely agree. I am not sure what to think.
If the trailer does this in the movie, it may tip the boat.

OptiMagnus wrote:You did it Hasbro! You finally did it! You 100% RUINED Optimus Prime! The new voyager was close with its heat shield panels and giant gas tanks, and the Battle Blades repaint with the night sky all over it, but this takes the cake. This is a complete joke. I haven't even seen anything like the combined mode here in the previews. What we've seen from the movie looked like the TakaraTOMY leader Jetwing Prime.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaw!
They did the best they could. Getting a trailer to transform into a screen-accurate jetpack is impossible. Jetwing is for the jetpack, this is more for the trailer.

That's a matter of scale. If you want a Leader OP that is in a reasonable scale with Leader Sentinel Prime and the new DOTM Voyager Ironhide in both vehicle and robot modes, DOTM Ultimate OP is the best choice:
In both modes he is smaller than Sentinel Prime without the trailer, and bigger than him with the trailer/battle suit.
Very well done Hasbro !
Of course it still has its flaws, but no TF toy is perfect. I personally think that the robot-mode is unbalanced when OP is not wearing the suit, his BFG looks horrible (2 separate weapons would be nicer) and nulls most of the articulation that is left in the combined-mode, and it seems that the trailer is not silver painted (what is inexcusable for such expensive toy).
Anyway, I can't imagine myself collecting DOTM and not getting him.

I think that's a good job for 3rd-party companies. Unfortunately, most of them aren't interested yet in upgrades for movieverse toys

It's called Jetwing Optimus Prime.
