Transformers At The Moon has posted a fairly lengthy review of the upcoming book: Transformers Vault. This is certainly not the Toy-book many of us thought. Indeed there are pictures of prototypes, unreleased figures, comics and some tidbits on the future of the Transformers Brand!
Also of note is the first picture of Prima, one of the Original 13 Transformers from which the title of Prime originated. Some of the 13 were revealed during
Botcon 2010. See a small smattering of images below and be sure to click
here for the full review. You will not be dissapointed

oh who posted that? Me.
On another note, I don't want the original 13 in toy form. THese would be the only statues of TF figures that I would ever buy.
Totally epic. This has also put the TF: Vault back on my preorder list.

Correct me if I'm wrong but to me it seems that Prima is getting his first toy soon.

Got the book in the mail today, love it. Not what I expected, but that's a good thing. Also, Prima looks awesome.

I remember when they announced this at the panel last year. Mixed reactions to say the least. Most of them did seem to agree with Mkall. Personally for me, to do these Historic characters justice they have to be statues. For them to be toys they would have to be perfect and not some cheesy gray plastic. Im talkin Takara stlye X100000..

All I have to say is that it's easier to pull all those bonus features out of their pockets than it is to get them back in…

Finally got mine in the mail May 27 from Amazon. Very impressed with the hard cover and protective hard cover sleeve. The content is quite impressive even though it is a bit selective. DK Publishing's Transformers the Ultimate Guide (2007) is probably a bit more detailed in the story lines of the different continuums. Still a must have for any serious TF collector. I have a second one coming from Barnes and Noble that should arrive by Tuesday this week, which I'll take with me to Bot-Con this coming Saturday June 4 and hopefully get autographed by any artist, writers, Hasbro designers or anyone else that has contributed to the TF universe. On a side note, if you order yours online from Amazon or Barnes & Noble it should run you roughly $20 but if you purchase in stores it may run you $35. We're in a recession

I'm usually open to new aesthetics and designs, but, that, thing, just doesn't look like a transformer, just some generic mechanoid alien design to me.
But I guess it is just concept art, hope the actual toy looks decent.

Botcon '11 is pretty much upon us and they STILL haven't released the pics of the original 13 that they showed last year. WTF? Well, at least from the looks of Prima, I'm now not that fussed about seeing the rest...

I don't know how I feel about Prima. His legs are too short for starters. Plus he looks more like Sauron from LoTR than a Cybertronian. I personally hope the original 13 aren't Transformers. I always liked the idea that transforming was an evolved ability, so Prima and the others shouldn't have that. (That's one of the things I liked about The Fallen in RoTF. He didn't transform but made up for it with some wicked powers.)
Here's hoping (foolishly) that this lot get released as Dual Model kits.

NO...You aren't getting a toy of Prima! It's just a picture, a concept drawing, nothing more. Stop making it into something it's not!! It doesn't mean a darn thing and NOBODY has said that it will EVER make it any closer to being a real product than that picture.

I noticed that also, but with the amount of work that appeared to go into researching this book, I'm willing to bet that Blaster was Soundwave's original Japanese name before TF was TF. Like Prime's name was Battle Convoy before just plain Convoy. I haven't investigated this myself yet, but I can't imagine the editors would have made such a flub otherwise.

That would seem to imply Prima IS getting a toy, and that this pic of him would be the one on the package.

There is a semi-colon in that caption, between "line" and "official," indicating a separate thought. The toy line note is refering to
TF: Cybertron. Prima is too obscure a character even for hardcore collectors to warrant the cost of producing a figure, much less an entire "Original 13" line. I mean, we can't even get a G1 Arcee out of Hasbro. Why would they bother with Prima?

If that is the Marvel Encyclopedia published by DK I can concur that there are more than a few screw-ups in its entries. Same for the DC Encyclopedia by the same publisher. But I'm getting a different vibe from this book, one that implies more dedication. I was particularly impressed that they actually used the proper planet name "Nebulos" instead of "Nebulan" like Dreamwave did in their TF handbook, a mistake which has stuck around for several years.

Maybe I missed it but has anyone noticed the HUGE SPOILER ALERT on pages 144 - 146 that discusses the premis of DOT? Sounds pretty good. "The third movie builds upon surprising connections in human and Cybertronian history. It turns out that the race to the moon launched by President Kennedy was prompted to investigate Transformer activity. Optimus Prime's predecessor, Sentinel Prime, had developed a dangerously powerful weapon. Rather than risk it falling into Decepticon hands, Sentinel fled the battlefield only to crash his ship, the Ark, into Earth's moon. In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Optimus and the Autobots are briefed on this history by a firsthand witness- Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin makes an appearance as himself in the movie. The Decepticons and Autobots race to claim this lunar weapon, known as the Space Bridge, but a treacherous Sentinel Prime emerges alive, corrupted with visions of conquest. Optimus and Megatron must team up to defeat the turncoat before he can use the Bridges powers of teleportation to transport Cybertron into Earths orbit: the move would destroy Earth, releasing a massive wave of energy that Sentinel Prime plans to use to save Cybertron. The film's climax includes multiple battles with the largest cast of characters yet. Even Sam Witwicky acquires himself well in combat, as a shape-shifting gauntlet built by the Autobots gives him some much-needed defensive firepower against the Decepticons." I'm sorry, did I mention spoiler alert.

This book had the plot for DOTM way before I saw it anywhere else. I thought it was a fake plot leaked by Bay to throw the fandom off, but sure as heck it was spot-on. Even to the point of mentioning Buzz Aldrin's appearance.
