Some collectors have been having a difficult time picking between Hasbro's Generations and Takara's United for three new figures, Kup, Scourge and Wreck-Gar. United decided to mix things up by giving e-Hobby two exclusive three-packs, one each for the Autobots and Decepticons. If you were hoping that the color schemes were different, you're out of luck as e-Hobby notified us that these three-packs would all have new paint jobs. Now finally we have photos to help you finalize or cancel your pre-orders on these '86 Movie themed sets! Thanks to Seibertron.com member gigasteam for the heads up.
The Autobot set contains Classics Rodimus, colored in clear blue and green metallics. Kup is mostly blue and teal in this 'battle-damaged' variant. The third member of this set is Scrap Heap, a brown and red version of the upcoming Wreck-Gar figure. He will also come with a new head, which was yet to be developed prior to the images being made. The Decepticon set features clear purple versions of Universe Galvatron and Cyclonus. Rounding out the set is a clear blue Scourge. This is meant to homage the scene where Galvatron's forces are created.
Of course, what would exclusive over seas repaints be without slick box art! Check out the images below! If you're in the mood for pre-ordering these sets, check out our various site sponsors: BigBadToyStore, TFsource, RobotKingdom or ToyArena

They'll all be mine....

I like the Junkion, even if we can't see it's face, best. Then I like Kup: the battle damage suits him.
All the clear figures, however, don't really impress me that much. I don't have the Galvatron mold, but I haven't heard much good of it, to say the least. Cyclonus and Scourge are alright in thee colors, and of course they have great molds. Rodimus is alright, but I already own the 'Sons of Cybertron' clear Rodimus, so I don't really need another one, especially considering I don't won an original regular colored Rodimus.
Biggest problem is really the price... I'm sure these will all be very collectible in years to come, but the price is already pretty hefty as is.

Hell will freeze over before I buy another Galvatron mold. How else do you explain why it was dropped from the Battle in Space set?

I'm a big Galvatron fan, so this is very tempting. And I've always felt the Sweeps could be more individualized than they were always shown to be. Ditto Cyclonus' Armada.
The price, however, is not very tempting. Still, it's better than iGear's Arcee figure, which I've been contemplating...

I love the clear purple plastic on Galvatron and Cyclonus and the clear blue on Rodimus and Scourge.
I much prefer Kup in his bright blue compared to the more movie accurate general release grey colour he has in RTS and United which is rare for me as I normally go for the most G1 accurate looking figure.
Will I shell out all 16,000 Japanese yen on these guys?
Probably not because there really isn't much purpose to the release - Ghost Starscream fitted in with an actual G1 storyline, I think Rodimus kind of went blue for one scene of one episode (I might be wrong) but the 3 Decepticons although they look fab, are just clear for the sake or being clear.
Junkion is a cool idea though wish they had done a little more remolding with him than just his head.

and the prime killer is supposed to be a reformating by the autobot matrix?
Blurrz wrote:Well this is going to be one greasy and expensive Junkion army building session. Not only will I be left with a bunch of Rodimus' and Kups, but this Junkion's head seems to have a Justin Bieber hair cut and Japanese text as eyes.... Oh wait.
whhat is a justin bieber?

the decepticon set is awesome though, especially to keep MISB. Nice tip of the hat to their transformation by unicron.

Kupp is alright, and the Junkion, well, one has to see the head before passing judgment on him.

We don't know that for sure, it could be a remold which is why they are keeping it so secret.
But over all I really dig the Autobot set.
I like Kup, but he is a bit blue, I'm really interested in the Junkion, and I even like Hot Rod, even though I usually don't like clear figures.
It's that same distaste for clear figures, that will keep me from the Decepticon set. If they were repainted partially in color, and had the reformatting lines ... that might sway me, but they are just not my cup of tea.

Oh, I'm so excited. For both! So much for getting just the Autobot one because I don't have any of them.

Don't they? I think I like the Decepticon team more than the Autobot. I do agree though that I have to pass for now.

Definite pass.

I looks like they changed the look of Scrap Heap's head from the first teaser pics to this one that you can see in the artwork. His head looks like it has a shield on it.

I think the real star of the autobot set is Kup. I don't know what the United version will look like, but this sets Kup looks too awesome to pass up.
I wish the decepticons had solid colors. I think they are going with the whole reformatted transparent look when they were being reformed by Unicron.
Price, well this is E-Hobby you know. I paid through the nose for there version of Astrotrain alone and that when it was out.
So there goes a chunk of my bonus to reserve at the end of the year.

Isn't the blue Rodimus just supposed to represent the moment in the film where he touches the matrix for the first time after Prime's death.
It's a figure accounting for about 2 seconds of on-screen time.

I was just about to go to class, now I gotta watch the movie again...argghhh

In the scenes being refered to in the movie Hot Rod was just bathed in blue light, he didn't turn translucent or have glowy green parts.
Regardless, you can call him whatever you want. He just screams Blaze to me.

The Autobots though...
well, the Junkion looks pretty awesome. He's so Genericised! Rodimus, while not a figure I'm a huge fan of, is wowing me with his shiny. Kup looks bloody fantastic, but he's also really bright looking and wrong somehow. I like it! G1-toy deco as opposed to the cartoon deco we've got on the single release. He looks new, and old.
Again, though, the price is kind of off-putting. I could get 6 deluxes for the price of one of these sets and still have change. Hmm...?

From the first post: The third member of this set is Scrap Heap, a brown and red version of the upcoming Wreck-Gar figure. He will also come with a new head, which was yet to be developed prior to the images being made.
I don't think they're trying to keep it from us, it just hadn't been developed yet. So rather than misleading anyone with Wreck Gar's head, they just edited it out so you know it'll be different.

Other than Hot Rod the Autobot set holds no appeal for me, though. Which is just as well, I suppose. As for why he gets a toy for the one second he holds the Matrix, well .... Ultra Magnus did too, so it's just Hot Rod's turn.

How does thinking factor into grown adults buying transforming robot toys? We all just want someone to coddle and cater to us while our childhood is raped over and over again. If anyone really thinks I'm serious here...Well, you'd be a silly goose now, wouldn't you?

Sorry, by thinking I meant, "How much more gleefully willing you are to piss away money on the same toy, but just with a different coat of paint for the 3rd or 5th iteration (hello Starscream)."
EDIT: That said, I still think these toy sets are totally awesome.
