Could be, but my mind's eye sees it as a beard.

I think this is the most plausible. Not counting Liokaiser, since he was a platinum release, combiner wars had 5 box sets so it would make sense for them to keep it consistent. 6 waves and 5 box sets per line (that's a lot of figures).
No idea who would be in this box set though. G2 Meg's seems obvious for at least one of the spots but who else? Leader class is out of uses besides Soundblaster and Twincast

While a bit arbitrary and subjective, I'd guess a boxset named as a 'tribute' to Transformers would have versions of very popular and well-known characters. Therefore I would think Soundblaster - as a version of Soundwave - would be a very good bet.

Not sure on the head. As a Ginrai owner, I hoped Orion Pax would just see a reuse of PM Prime's Titan Master so I could have a way to get that mold myself. And if they have to do an original sculpt, it would be nice if it could look closer to this:
Still... Not a bad looking head, and maybe it will look better when we see it as more than just a drawing.

I don't know. Some boards are saying it won't one of the TR box sets because it looks like an individual instruction sheet and the box sets instructions are all one giant sheet.
I'm my saying I agree. They could simply make individual sheets if they want.
I'm wondering if it's a con exclusive like Habsrocon or SDCC.

It's an amazing figure and everyone should own some version of that mold.

Are... are Hasbro still using this design? Seriously?
What is it with them taking obscure one-off pre-2011 IDW stuff? This design of Orion Pax that showed up once in a few panels, Thunderwing... I am so confused.

This comic was made specifically for the T30 Deluxe. The design did appear in IDW before though - once - in Spotlight: Blurr.

Ok then, that confirms my suspicion of the TR Orion being based off the original toy, similar to how Kup was tooled (also doesn't hurt they were the exact same toy).

I always thought that they should have done a combinerwars vehicon combiner.
Cyclonus as jetstorm
Rook as strika
Groove as thrust
Blades as obsidion
And brawl as tankor
But whatever...

It's more likely to be an SDCC exclusive. It has the boxset name on it too, an indivual instruction sheet, and it is leaking at the exact same time that SDCC boxset components leak (like the arcee redeco 2 years back).

If so, I'm guessing Hasbro will jump the sharkticon and give us a TR Windblade in some one-off deco.

What do you mean by that second part? How can it be current if its a preorder and not arrived yet?

Poor word choice on my part, available preorders would be the proper term (I think). During the 2 days available to preorder, its ranking started high on the first page of TR products, but slowly descended to the second page and most likely the third, before running out of preorders. The highest figures are the big tickets that don't move, but below are case assortments of older waves and generally less liked figures. That's where my theory comes from, and I am almost certain it is true from the data I gathered during the open preorders for seige on cybertron.

Then I will cut right to the chase and ask you if, through your theory, this would mean that there will be no more sets available once Hasbro send them the boxsets?
Is it just the preorder that is sold out, or should fans really start looking at other international outlets?

I'd say to look elsewhere for now. Wait till mid June then check back. If not, they will almost certainly have some available to order after the preorders ship.
EDIT: if this truely is a BBTS exclusive, Hasbro will definitely send more.

Thanks for your opinions And I can confirm, this is truly a BBTS exclusive... in the US. Meaning that other countries will have their own outlets but in the US proper, you can only buy it through them.
its available elsewhere in Canada, for instance:

Are you kidding? It has the takara PMOP but without ugly white, and is also 2/3 of the price and comes with extra figures if you're only after Optimus.

Not surprised it sold out (which is why I PO'd day 1), but thought it would take a little longer than a week.

I think Takara's Super Ginrai has the better color scheme. I think the overload of blue is more ugly than the white. Also, the Takara color scheme is actually accurate to Ginrai's animation model from Super God Masterforce.

When people like you say box sets, it sounds like baseball card sets. There are two differences. The set of baseball cards for a current year are cheaper, and the box sets are based on characters that aren't real. Though it would be nice if AI was that advanced.

Then get coding. I expect a maniacle war robot AI that can build a machine to make other AI's that will follow its command by reprogramming existing appliances.

Yea, I've seen it pop in and out of stock a few times today while randomly checking for other things. It's currently out of stock. If you're on the fence, better hope there's another cancellation and best to jump on it if there is.

And is BBTS playing Red Light or something? Or are they dividing the batch up in smaller orders that get sold out quickly, to avoid a server crash?

I'm guessing people are canceling the preorders since the figures look nearly identical.

First, thanks again for the input regarding Perceptor and Kup. Unfortunately Meijer did not have them in stock to exchange so I decided to return them. My only regret is losing out on that coupon I used. I wish Meijer would have given me a new one since it was good until 6/16.
Before I returned them I took a good look a Perceptor and Convex to be sure I wanted to exchange or purchase again at a later date. I was particularly interested in examining the bar the armature is attached to. Kids are going to break that. I think adults will break it too. It's a piss poor engineering decision by Hasbro. I wish they would have gone with the armature from the G1 toy that attached to the front and back of the neck and swiveled into place. I was never worried about breaking that when I was a kid.
I also noticed Convex's legs don't have the extra plastic jutting out alongside the shins that cover the gap in head mode. I noticed this because as I was examining Perceptor I saw the gap in his head. Because of both the issue with the armature (which I think I might need to grease to prevent breakage but I'm not so sure I want to do that) and the head hole I'm not so sure I want to take another chance on the toy should I come across him again.
And that's a real shame because I had a coupon at Target for 20% off one Transformer expiring on 6/6 and one of the two Targets I frequent finally had Brawn on the shelf. Brawn is awesome. My only complaint about Lengends figures is the lack of their weapons but Brawn himself is perfect. I like his rear roof spare tire shield and I like that I can easily store it unobtrusively on his back. I also love the ports on his forearms. I have a bag full of G1 cassette weapons and Brawn looks awesome with Overkill's rockets plugged into his forearms while holding either Grand Slam's double barreled guns or Raindance's rockets.
Nice to have been smart enough to keep my old G1 weapons stored away safely for when I need them. If I do get Perceptor I can give him his old G1 rifle instead of that weird sniper rifle that comes with him (which is fine for tank or unofficial base mode, just not as a handheld weapon).

I'll let my family outsourced collectors know to keep an eye out! I believe they're stuck in National Harbor for their remaining week in the US, but if they have some spare time I'm sure they'd be happy to check around that area.
And on a related note to that, my faithful team found and purchased TR Percy, Topspin and Repugnus at Forbidden Planet in NYC! Communication isn't the most consistent at the moment so I'm not sure what other figures were there - though I would assume at the very least the rest of the Wave 4 Deluxes - or if there are any left now, but if anyone in that area is still looking for some of the newer-ish TR stuff it might be worth a check in there.
