Well, it's still possible that whomever took the pic didn't plug soundwaves head in all the way, the render shows how it should look, so, that's a good sign.

The person who created that graphic definitely chose the wrong picture. His face and legs are oriented in a way that makes him look way worse than he should.
This pic is way better:

I don't think they were ever known for that

Red visor, for one. The knees caps should be silver, as well as the insides of his lower legs, his chest needs some gold line detailing on either side of the tape door, the shoulder cannon desperately needs red detailing on the missile pods, and maybe put some silver on the small triangle in the middle of his helmet crest like on the MP, just to bring out some of the mold detailing and break up the predominant blue on the top of his head. Finally, make the blue plastic a few shades darker. Soundwave is DARK blue.

Fair enough; that's quite a lot of missing app's actually - although I'm not surprised

They kinda cheaped out with Soundwave's "Mini-Me" there. Having the speakers on the legs is just all wrong. It doesn't even match the "Transtector" remolding.

Here's the best that I know of, please note that the faces do not match...
The one that we will be getting is likely to be the one pictured in the prototype image

I much preffer Blaster's alt mode which makes me realize how this Soundwave is clearly the recedo here.

The targetmaster is my favourite part of this reveal.
Cobotron wrote::lol: I like it for the reasons Delta doesn't. Like the clear cassette door, and the really OG toy head sculpt. Lots of retooling going on with the legs, and new feet. Different enough to have both he and Blaster for me!
I wonder how different his Base Mode will look?
I shed one manly tear knowing I have lost my good friend Cobotron.
He was so young.
PS: Here is the difference between the base modes, Soundwave's is blue and has an extra gun.
In general, while I would love to have a soundwave to go with my leader Megatron and Sarscream, the fact that there is nothing new with the base mode, and that it really looks like Blaster redeco'd (and less interestingly too with the alt mode), makes me think I will instead just get Blaster and have him battle Megs and Starscream and that will be that. FOC Soundwave is still the main classics soundwave as far as I am concerned for my collection.
I am still glad he is getting some love, but as with leader Megatron, one version of this mold is enough and I will go for the superior one.
Soundwave Inferior!

Yeah, you show 'em! Get all these guys and the vehicle dudes and show them how much fun they can be in super-colossal-conjoined-base mode

Not sure yet. The line's not out yet and any fictional depictions haven't come about yet. We at a "wait and see" point right now.Questworld12 wrote:I'll most likely buy it. So, I'm wondering what is the fiction here? Is this a giant version of Soundwave with regular Soundwave as the head or is this regular Soundwave with a mini Soundwave in him? I never understood Targetmasters or Headmasters fiction.

Will, I love ya man, but are you really gonna skip this guy because he doesn't turn into some antiquated piece of tech that has been obsolete since the late '90's? (maybe more or less)
Man, I bet kids today don't even know what the heck a tape deck is, soundwave at least looks like an ipod docking station/speaker system now; remember, hasbro has to stay at least a bit relevant, soundwave was always going to be the problem-child (after G1 megs of course) with his pointless alt mode...

Seriously, I get the dislike of hasbro putting the base gimmick into these guys, but this is going to be awesome when we see pics of all the accessory bots chillin' in a base comprised of Fort max, Blaster, Soundwave, pm/op, and others, I can't wait

The proportions seem off to me. I guess if they come out with a bunch of cool cassette legends for him, that may change some people's minds.
Well, that's the thing... They will, but the bird and big-cat molds both seem to suck pretty f'ing hard, the cassette-bots are pure win though, so I'd say no, they won't 'need' to buy this one, but they may for their own reasons...

No, this Soundwave doesn't fit at all with the Masterpiece figures. I've already got MP-13 Soundwave, and he is GLORIOUS! The ONLY Masterpiece placeholder figure I have right now on my Masterpiece shelves is Takara Legends Megatron. When standing with the rest of the Decepticons, he looks great and not terribly out of proportion or short. The trick is keeping him AWAY from MP-10, lol. The question with the Titans Return version of Soundwave is more about if he fits on our "Classics" shelves. He's the closest to an updated G1 design we've gotten since 2006, but he's too big to scale with anything but the other Leader Class figures, honestly. My shelf is based on Optimus Prime and Megatron being Voyager sized, allowing for figures like Leader Jetfire and Ultra Magnus to properly scale with and tower over them. Deluxe Starscream will look awfully shrimpy next to Leader Soundwave. For now, I'm in agreement with Will, that FoC Voyager Soundwave is still the best way to go for a G1 "Classics" Soundwave.

I will buy blaster. I will buysound wave as I need them for my generations collection and think they're pretty good. Makes me wonder if the next 80s gimmick they bring back is micromasters since they have these base modes the might be able to connect to each other (correct me if i'm wrong).
One small failure for me with this guy is the gun.. it's just a repaint of blaster's. Soundwave's weapon was always rather particular looking. Glad they included his shoulder cannon, 3rd party manufacturers are probably already rubbing their mitts.

No, I dislike him because he DOESNT turn into that antiquated tape deck but instead into a boombox with really underwhelming speakers. I mean if you'll go antiquated, go all in. Blaster is a boom box (or Ghetto Blaster hence the name), and this soundwave alt mode just looks like a lame retool/redeco. I thought they would do something interesting for the retool but this looks super bland.
You could all call me a negative Nancy, but I preffer to go by Roberta.

As I said they look close enough to an ipod docking station/speaker thing that I can let it pass, besides it's better than a walkman. I don't deny it doesn't really fit with the image of Soundwave, but I'm not sure what everyone was expecting; I'm surprised actually that he got this much re-molding...

Always glad to help
I didn't really think of that angle, I just figured it was a base that turned into a boombox the size of a building for massive block parties at their new base modes, but this is actually really f'ing funny, I wonder if it'll shrink enough for the headmaster to use it himself

Nothing wrong with a satelite done right. Superlnk Shockwave is testament to that.
I guess I am just upset at how apparent him being a retool/redeco is. I wanted a cyberverse city with a bunch of diversity but it looks like it will be similar buildings in different colours
