We didn't really have any out of the box major issues with the other Titans did we? I mean yeah, Metro and Maxi have legs that collapse under their own weight sometimes but they didn't break.

Qwan back in page 24 of this very thread posted some pics of the damage and explanation. He followed up with a fix tutorial in page 26.

I feel thine agony. I had it on pre-order too. Guess some pre-order is more 'order' than 'pre'.....

Is it as bad as causing parts to fall off, or does it just become very loose and unable to support anything? Is it something you could viably take back to the store to return it and say "hey this is broken gimme my money back"?
That probably depends on the store, but in most cases, I imagine so.
If his ratchet-jointed legs become loose to the point that he can't stand up, I'm sure that in itself is either 'broken' or 'defective' enough by the standards of Wal-Mart or Target to exchange.

Trypticon is OUT!!!! Not only is he shipping from online retailers like BBTS (for those who preordered him), but he has appeared at US retail. The picture below comes from a sighting at a Think Geek store in Oklahoma.
I don't think a small chain of specialty shops counts as "being out" at retail any more than BBTS shipping preorders does. Try again when it shows up en masse at TRU, Walmart, Target, etc. you know, actual mass retail. (not that it'll show up at any of the ones in my area )

Some people had issues with a tab on Scrapper that keeps his scoop/blade/whatever in position for foot mode snapping off when transforming. I don't know the level of widespread it was, it hasn't happened on mine (mine did have two right hands, though, a completely different, one off issue!)

I had that issue but it was because transforming wasnt done in the proper order for that particular peg. Mistransforming it would lead to a snap on any version, Hasbro or Takara. That was more the user`s fault (I would know, I did the same mistake). Of course the debate remains on how much Hasbro or Takara shoudl rely on the user respecting the precise instructions.

It does count. If we waited for the combienr box sets to show up at your retail to write an article saying they were out, we still wouldnt have an article.
Point is, its out somewhere so it might come out elsewhere.

I am curious, where did we have confirmation that the pre-orders were shipping from BBTS? I haven't seen anything from anybody here, unless I missed it.
That said, I agree with you. Let's also keep in mind that these shops are also selling it at normal price, not the jacked up third party "got em early price". Definitely newsworthy.

yes that later part was what tipped the bucket into really making this a true sighting. just like how the TR figures first appeared at some tech chain I never heard about. They were sold at a standard retail price. Not everyone has a wallgreens either but if Leader Dragontsorm appeared there you bet your ass I would news it and say he`s out
As for BBTS, I relied on this post here:
Also, he has been released by Robot Kingdom as well

A while back in the thread there was a video by That Transformer Fan on Youtube, who had the same problem as I did. From what I understand he identified the exact same problem, also returned his Trypticon for a new one and employed a different fix to the one I came up with.mazingaspidey wrote:Has anyone actually confirmed that the legs are breaking? All I've seen are videos with people concerned about them, but no actual breaking yet.
In fact if anyone's concerned about actually altering the components of their Trypticon (like cutting the springs) rather than just disassembling somewhat, and don't mind having a friction joint instead of a softer ratchet, check out his fix for a modification that's less worryingly permanent. I think that's probably a good balance for people who aren't sure how widespread the issue is yet, and don't want to permanently modify their Trypticon until they're sure there's a good chance of theirs breaking, since with that fix you can easily just reassemble the hip ratchets and have him back to factory default if you decide to change it back.
And speaking of returning:
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to return one if it actually breaks. Nothing falls off and it's not visibly broken unless you disassemble the hip, but it's clear something is wrong without having to do that. Chances are as long as you have the receipt and explain the problem, you'll have no trouble (I didn't have an issue, and Australian stores tend to have slightly tighter returns policies than American ones to begin with.)Kurona wrote:So if your Trypticon's hip thingy does turn out to be a dud one, what's the extent of the damage? Maybe even have another report or two open on your phone just in case, to show to your service-person if they want further proof (again I didn't need to do so, but it's good to cover your bases I guess). Basically as long as you haven't modified the figure yourself - i.e. playing around with cutting the springs before returning it, as I did (I seem to have been fine so far though, so fingers crossed) - I think it falls very reasonably under "figure broken through normal use" and from there I should think it would be a breeze to return. Or at the very least exchange, since I imagine most will still want a Trypticon even if their first one breaks.

Yeah. that was me on TFW2005. Yes BBTS did Ship my Trypticon today. Why some didnt get theirs I dont know. Though you guys will hate me when I say I wasnt one of the first preorders.
I've been scrounging the internet on this hip thing since i learned about it AFTER I was charged by BBTS. Kinda miffed about that. plan on taking the spring to a hardware store to find something shorter or less powerful. I dont like performing alterations on the toy with cutting tools and the edge of the spring digging into the plastic makes me cringe

Just a question: is it possible to remove the legs AFTER putting them in their sockets, or like Fortress's arm once they're inside, they're almost impossible to remove?
Because before changing the spring, I wanted to test the ratchet of a couple of clicks, just to see how much sturdy it is, but I fear that doing that without the leg being assembled it could force the joint.
Also, I wanted to know because I read online that placing the stickers is much easier with the legs detached.
EDIT:
Never mind.
I did an unboxing video (in italian, so I probably won't post it here) and started to look how cool Trypticon is.
I didn't have the sensation that the hips ratchet joints were so hard to the point of breaking, but non the less tomorrow I'll go purchasing a couple of replacement springs, just to avoid any risk.
The legs can still be detached after clipping them, the joint it's not so hard like it's on Fortress arm.
Also, my copy of Full Tilt doesn't have the titan master port looseness issue. In fact, my TM joint is so hard that I feared to break it while I was tryin' to remove Necro to convert Full Tilt back in car mode.
I'll write a more extensive review in the next days, once I got the new springs

I still have this sinking feeling that production on Trypticon is going to be way less than Fort Max (which is still obtainable)...part of me wants to hold out for a sale, but then another part tells me to get it when I can, because I might not see it again...
For the record, I never saw a CW Devastator at B&M, however they are still obtainable on some 3rd party sites for retail cost.
Never saw Metroplex at any B&M either in 2013/2014, and unfortunately I was not looking online at the time.

TRU online orders are sold out, and shipping on 8/1/17, I would not expect to see it in stores before then, but since its so easy for me to check going to & from work, I check about once a week just to see.

Think Geek is awesome. They are owned by Gamestop. I've been buying from them for years. Though this is the first time I learned they have legit brick&mortar stores. I'm actually planning a roadtrip to a brick&mortar store now because of this. lol

I could always count on them to mistakenly put out anime dvd's a week or two before their scheduled release date. But now all we have in CA are Gamestops around practically every corner in my area, which, for various reasons I will not shop at, and I'm pretty sure they wont have Trypticon.
Think Geek is where I got my replica Megaman Helmet and Megabuster.

Y'know, now that you say that, it makes a lot of sense. That hadn't even occurred to me, and now I realize I could've saved myself quite a bit of pain if I'd just thought about it for a minute.MadProject wrote:Also, I wanted to know because I read online that placing the stickers is much easier with the legs detached.
Are there reports of a looseness issue with the TM port on Full Tilt? Both of my copies have also had extremely tight neck ports (the second one probably even more so than the first); I know the TM port on Trypticon's head is a bit loose, but that actually makes it much easier to get the Titan Master in and out from there.MadProject wrote:Also, my copy of Full Tilt doesn't have the titan master port looseness issue. Speaking of, if anyone has trouble fitting Titan Masters (or Necro at least) into their Trypticon's head-port - it can be quite tricky if you try and do it 'normally' - try sliding it in diagonally from the back of Tryp's head. Trying to clip it straight in like you'd do on another TR toy is particularly hard thanks to the spring mechanism, but there's just about enough room to fit the full small-TM-head behind the port and then slide it into place horizontally. To take it out, try flipping the TM's legs open (into robot mode position) and then just pull upward on those to detach. It's not scary and doesn't apply any worrying forces, but it makes it a heck of a lot easier to get the TM out than trying to pry on the smooth domed surfaces of Necro's head mode. (Naturally though, I don't think this'd work so well with Titan masters that have their hips attached via friction as opposed to a pin-joint.)

If I'm not wrong, I read in a review that their Full Tilt headmaster's joint were loose.
Since I don't know if it was just a copy or something common (it wouldn't be the first Titan Master with a loose connector) I found it was worth mentioning.

Could the damaged boxes be evidence that the manufacturers have gone through some kind of last-minute scramble to fix the leg spring/ratchet issues? Suppose they've seen and noted the breakage issues over at the factories (or wherever). And they went out and made or bought some smaller springs to replace the ones that are causing all the damage. If they had a number of faulty units already boxed up, they would need to open the boxes to remove the legs and replace the springs. Since the legs are detached, it would probably be a simple matter for them to gather a team of employees together to disassemble the legs, swap out the springs, and re-box them. But opening and re-closing boxes that were already taped and sealed would likely show signs of tampering. Could that be why so many boxes are 'damaged'?

besides, their newly redesigned site looks nice, but I've noticed some glitches. Tuesday if you went to the main TR page, it showed the Siege on Cybertron set still available for pre-order, then when you clicked on it, it said pre-order sold-out...
Also I know I was one of the very very last to pre-order UW-08 Computron (taking advantage of someones cancellation), but I got mine in surprisingly short time.
