After some first look images we got a while ago from Argos UK for Transformers: The Last Knight toys, we now also have a confirmed sighting of the figures on the shelves in other retailers! The following proof comes from fellow Seibertronian Crankcase79 and the Smyths in Birstall, Leeds - check out the display of £22.49/$29 USD Deluxes (lotsa Barricades), One-Steps, Turbo Changers - regular and Tiny - and more, and use our Sightings database anywhere in the world to help out local collectors too!

I hope Barricade will be in stores here soon. I'm really looking forward to him and he is the one figure from wave 1 I want

Are deluxe class figures worth £22.49? These seem to have shot up in price.

Still bit cheaper than what The Entertainer stores have been selling Titans Return Deluxes at (£22.99) I even questioned them on that and they tried to tell me that if I've found them cheaper else where it's just been a reduced sale promotion in those other places. Bulllllllllll...
ANyways I'm heading to Cambridge next Monday and hoping they'll have in the new toys and mainly Voyager Prime.

£22.49?!?!?!? That's as much as a Generations Voyager used to cost! That's just shameful.

Oh ye gods. This is getting silly. Like, if they were charging that much but giving us RTS/HFTD level engineering then yeah, I could stomach it. I don't mind paying for quality, hence why I buy 3P stuff. But the fact we're getting "meh" at best figures for nearly double the price is disgraceful. 7 years ago and that Barricade's roof would have folded up practically out of sight, AND he'd cost half the price.

I get that production costs have risen, I really do. But price should reflect quality. If they're going to charge such an extortionate amount of money then they should pass that to the consumer with better engineering, paint and QC. They're one of the biggest toy companies in the world, I'm sure it wouldn't put them out of business to give us slightly less awful backpacks.

You guys think these price jumps are going to apply to all lines, or is just because of the fancy packaging?

Voyager Optimus has ROTF level of engineering and a decent amount of paint (just in the wrong places).

I don't mind paying for quality, hence why I buy 3P stuff.

I dont think 3p is a fair comparison when talking about what you get for the price. 3p's higher price isnt dependent on parts count or enginnering (especially when their workforce is paid less than hasbro's), its due to not using economies of scale. There are garbage 3p figures out there that still cost a bunch, I really wouldnt compare the two here.

Cobotron wrote:You guys think these price jumps are going to apply to all lines, or is just because of the fancy packaging?

Whats weird is that only deluxes have nice new packaging while voyagers were already in a box so the packaging doesnt explain the price hike. The difference is that Hasbro has probably been making less money on generations figures but since they all share a similar price point, they couldnt raise the prices (especially since TRU uses the same code for all deluxes no matter the wave). So this brand new line is a chance to bump up the price point and make up for loss, capitalizing on the popularity of movie lines.

Yeah, that wasn't the best comparison I've ever made. I wasn't really directly comparing the two FWIW so much as just using them as an example of "I don't dislike expensive figures just because they're expensive". Maybe a better example would be import toys like Figma, Figuarts, Revoltech etc.

I may get those 2 at a later date, but Barricade is the only one I really want. The reviews kinda soured Beserker for me and Prime is one of those things that I don't really need and I believe will be readily available down the line

He didn't say Barricade had light piping. ;) But I do think that for the back of his head to be gray they must have intended for the eyes to be light piped at some point, but decided to go with paint instead, probably because they already had clear plastic on the windows. Why the would decide to move the back of the head to the gray plastic instead of the black is anyone's guess.

And BTW, there's a huge difference between a car that obviously couldn't be real and very scifi and able to have a free-form transformation, and a car that looks like it could be real and has to conform to that with its transformation. Of course there's a right way and a wrong way to do the later and it doesn't look like Barricade was done the right way. I sure hope Barricade isn't a repeat of what we saw with Generations in 2012 when the prices went up and the figures became smaller and simpler compared to the two years of Generations prior.

I feel like the only figures I'll be getting this time are the Leader and Voyager Megatrons and Voyager Prime if they make a better painted one somewhere. Oh, and the Prime Abominus repaints, gotta have those.

The Beserker reviews turned me off because of how fiddly the figure was, and he most likely won't even be a real character anyway. Barricade is one of my favorite movie cons and I have thought the figure looks good. I have heard many more good than bad reviews, so I am not really turned off by the bad review

Emerje wrote:I sure hope Barricade isn't a repeat of what we saw with Generations in 2012 when the prices went up and the figures became smaller and simpler compared to the two years of Generations prior.

That was the FOC stuff right? How they were way simpler than WFC?

For this line, we can already confirm that its very similar with the deluxes. Sure, there are probably some that are complex, like Berserker and maybe the new Bee, but barricade is simple, Steelbane is pretty simple, Sqweeks is small with accessories, and then the rest are all repaints and retools (unless I missed one).

So crosshairs, slash, slug, first BB, strafe and Drift are all retools or repaints being resold 3 years later for 5$ more than their previous release.

So looking at these facts, looks like it is going that route and the price increase is arbitrary to the effort in releasing these toys. but like I said earlier, I think its to make up for the loss of having to stick to a price point for the generations toys while the cost of production increased. So this is a big bang meant to recuperate loss.

I just dont know if this will be to help finance and maintain the lower price point in other lines or if it will be a new price point for transformers classes from here on out in future lines.

There are placeholders for them at Argos at the minute, voyagers only so far as I saw. If you look for Optimus in the search bar or Megatron or Grimlock you'll find all three, instore only. The online search doesn't work for them yet. Optimus' stock number is 673-4349 and due sometime between the 24th and 30th this month.

If the same happens in Australia, I can see a lot of deluxes not selling. It's not like voyagers fly off the shelves here.

It is possible however his alt form was spotted on set briefly so he might just be either a hi and bye dude or he spends most of his time in robot form.

I had to grab this image from my hard drive since I can't find it on the web but I do know the set pictures from that place were not uploaded as news on other sites like this and Tfw2005 so it's likely the original source got deleted and therefore the original pics are lost.

I can say that this is new stuff from TLK for example I think that's Barricade's hood in the bottom of the pic.

I'm still looking forward to the new voyager Prime. It's nicer looking than I expected and I figure I'll end up painting a bunch more silver on his head. I have no idea why they put silver on his crotch guard section, there's no silver there in the movie and even if there was I'd rather get more paint on his face. I'm excited for the new Megatrons and Scorn like everyone else and definitely the new Bee. I love that they finally got his wheels in the right place and he looks way better put together than most of the previous Bumblebee molds. I'll put him next to my High Octane Bee on my shelf.

Also sorry for asking since I'm sure it's been brought up a few times, but what was the street date for wave 1 again? I thought it was the 24th, and my Toys R Us is saying if they don't get Titans wave 4 in tomorrow there's a good chance they'll come in with the Last Knight figures. Hopefully I can get Prime and Krok.

Yeah, three bedrooms and none of them are overly big, which is why the collection fills an entire room. I've actually gone through and reduced my movie line, so now I'm very selective of what I want. They have to really impress me and a lot of the movie figures simply don't do that.

Oh I knew about the increase, I just assumed they'd cost even more at TRU. The one I go to is always a few dollars more expensive than Target. That increase is why I'm probably going to end up with around 4 Last Knight figures (5 if I end up unable to resist Leader Megs)

Ok cool then ;)^
But I think due to the increase, all shops will be pretty much equal (aside from collector shops which might charge more) so I think your TRU will charge $30 like Target.

Which toys do you plan on getting?

Just Optimus from wave one, then at least voyager and maybe leader Megatron, the new mold for deluxe Bee and Scorn. Those are the only ones I've seen that appeal to me so far - I've bought most of the ones that are now repaints/remolds from AoE and wasn't a fan of most of them (only ones I still have from that whole line are High Octane Bumblebee and Evasion Prime from the 5 pack). If they make Hot Rod and Onslaught I might grab them, especially since one of my favorite movie designs was Long Haul. Barricade I might get later on discount if only to paint up a lot. I love those brass knuckles and some silver drybrushing could make them look amazing. I plan to do the same on Prime's head and smokestacks, those are the parts of him that really needed extra work.

The rest I'll wait to look into until the movie's out, but I want to keep it minimal. I'm running out of collecting space and money fast ever since I started collecting Lego Star Wars.

I have him in hand and I would say the part that really needs the most work would be his feet. The smokestacks arent great but at least the grey is a full colour. The feet have a very unfinished look to them like they are leftovers of a prototype.

And thanks for answering my question, I hope you get all the figures you want at the right price ;)^

You bet, and thanks! I guess I forgot about the feet, most of the pictures I've seen tend to focus on his upper half. I'll probably paint those too. As far as price I live 15 minutes away (walking) from a Target and Fred Meyer and my job at a Lego Store has me within walking distance of a second Target and a Toys R Us, plus a short bus ride away from a Walmart. I've got pretty good retail access where I am right now, I'm sure I'll be able to track everything down eventually.

I am interested in all the figures that arent redecos except for Steelbane. He will have to be pretty cheap for me to want him since I really dont like that Dragon mode. Barricade was quite disappointing though. Voyager OP is fine but the deco is off, as you have realized. Really looking forward to Hound, Scorn and Leader Megs.

He does have a pretty funky dragon mode, I really don't like that his robot feet are stuck on him like a pair of hats. That and you can see his hands on his back legs just like voyager Grimlock. I do like Hound too, I actually completely forgot about him - John Goodman made him amazing and the new mold looks MUCH better than the AoE one. I'll have to see where money is when he comes out. Also I am thankful you put up a review of Barricade. I was really tempted to pick him up but he's really short and simple. Again, maybe I'll grab him later (ideally marked down a lot) to paint as a custom movie Prowl or something - I don't hate the mold entirely and the simplicity should make him easier to avoid paint scratching off, but he's too short to really represent the character next to Bee and he doesn't really look anything like movies 1-3 Barricade. At all.

I like barricade, but I am disappointed that the huge backpack is only removable by construction and not as say, a riot shield. 3rd party opportunity there. He's otherwise a pretty good looking figure. could only find grimlock or I'd have snagged a voyager. I'm kinda waiting for the deluxe megs too. I have a love-hate relationship with that mold and its stupid godawful chest pegging but I can't resist adding another to my collection.

The deluxes are all going for $20 and Grimlock for $30, for anyone else interested. Looks like they just bumped up Prime because they could.

Thanks, Chuckdawg! Snagged me an Optimus. I don't like that he's $35, but if I find him in the next couple weeks myself I can cancel and if not it'll cost me the same in bus fare anyway.

The deluxes are all going for $20 and Grimlock for $30, for anyone else interested. Looks like they just bumped up Prime because they could.

The Optimus Prime you ordered is NOT sold by Amazon, but by a third party vendor. Watch the listing and make sure it reads shipped and sold by Amazon.

They were up on walmart.com for cheaper yesterday, dont know if still there.

Any of you looking to pick up the new Voyagers from Transformers The Last Knight at MSRP right now without getting out of the house? Walmart has got you covered. They currently have both wave 1 voyagers, Grimlock and Optimus. Grimlock is a redeco of the Age of extinction voyager toy with a more accurate deco and Optimus is a brand new mold with 30 steps, bringing the engineering closest to the ROTF era than ever. Both are being sold for $29.84, just shy of the $29.99 MSRP.

That Prime looks really, really good actually. I don't need another Voyager Prime at the moment, but if they do him in Nemesis Prime colours I'll definitely buy that (and if they don't I'll repaint a regular one into him).

Voyager Optimus has ROTF level of engineering and a decent amount of paint (just in the wrong places).

Oh? That's interesting to know. I look forward to your expanded thoughts on him.

Here are my thoughts (started a draft yesterday)

That Voyager Optimus is a very good mold but somehow I still feel a bit underwhelmed. He definitely has the complexity I search for and I wouldn’t want something more complex than this. My problem is that it all feels incremental at this point. Unlike say TR Kup or Topsin or even CW Blackjack who give us new transformations I wouldn’t have thought of, this voyager Optimus has a bit of everything we have seen before. He is like a mix of AOE Galvatron and Powerizer Optimus Prime and somehow combining them made him more complex. I don’t mind it, but there is a slight added frustration with panel lining that wasn’t there before (and reminds me of the ROTF one). And the robot mode doesn’t really peg together well especially the arms and the backpack. He’s better than the leader that came before, but I would rather just have had this guy first (leader sized) instead of the previous leader. And it cost quite a bit too. Plus, the deco is odd. There is paint where we don’t need it but some parts badly need paint, like his feet and the flames on his chest.
Also, there are 2 pieces that keep coming off when transforming and they freaken knew that, hence why they give them these really easy ball joints that can be clipped back on. Doesnt make it less annoying.

So this toy is fine, but feels like an incremental step towards a great optimus toy, with odd deco choices and a robot mode that doesn’t clip together all that well.

Interesting indeed. I've just watched Peaugh's review on it, and I'm getting the following from it:

The paint is definitely a shame. There is quite a lot of it but it's poorly applied in some bits (those eyes...) and he seriously needs more of it, especially the thighs. The actual transformation is cool and the overall silhouette is great- he's bulkier than the film model but he actually looks cool in his own right, and his backpack is well-integrated. The build quality looks...questionable. He looks kinda wibbly wobbly in places, which concerns me. The articulation looks OK- wrist swivels would definitely have been nice for a sword wielding character, and the knees are pretty poor.

On the plus side the actual sculptwork is nice, and with a good paintjob for the inevitable "Premium" release he should look much better.

The only stock image we had of Legion Megatron from Transformers: The Last Knight was of him in his box so it is a real treat to get some new official images showing the finished toy in both robot and vehicle mode. We also see new images for his wave 2 wavemates Drift and Crosshairs which show us taht these Legion class toys have more articulation than usual thanks to some much needed knees. We also have new promotional images for Deluxe Drift and Steelbane in box as well as Voyager Hound and One Step Berserker. Its actually the very first image we ever had of One Step Berserker's robot mode. The listings, found on Toywiz and Forbidden Planet, also informs us that the release date of Transformers: The Last Knight wave 2, which includes most of these toys, is May 15 2017. So just one month away.
