Skip back a few pages and you will see more pics of that toy and of Barricade and others too.

Slash seems like a nice enough deco.
As I have said before what I'd like to see is the toys that were missing from the previous boxed sets to be made in the appropriate colours to fill in some of those gaps. So that would be things like a G1 deco Slash and Scorn for example.
If you go pocking about on the internet you can see the pre-production art for Slash and they provide a number of colour options since at one point there was going to be multiple Slash dinos as minions of Scorn if each was a slightly different deco that would have been nice to see.
$20.00 is a bit to expensive to make so many frivolous repaints though.

Especially as there's nothing premium about them, this way you just pay top-dollar to get hideously un(/under)painted figures sooner

My hope may be restored for a better Bumblebee figure down the road
Posted by Bronzewolf on February 8th, 2017 @ 9:25pm CST
Unless that's exactly what it is! They want to subliminally define who's a knight and who's not by their robot mode, therefore, so as not to get people confused, they took Bumblebee back to his old look so he's not sleek and knight-like!
This concludes my conversation with myself.

There will always be hope for a better (or at least another) Bumblebee figure down the road. In every TF line. Forever.

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:...Or maybe they're just premier editions, or versions, of characters, when compared to the rest of the line that would have simpler transformations, like One-Steps and Power Battlers... Compare with the Generations-like Prime First Edition vs. the simpler and gimmicky Prime RiD.
Thats exactly what it is. This picture pretty much sells it:
Notice how there are other Last Knight toys, at the same development stage (finished and ready to ship) and yet they dont have that logo. The only ones with them are the deluxes, voyagers and Leader (Optimus) which were branded as Generations toys in AOE as to distinguish them from the other products for a different age group. Well since they dont want to interupt the generations line this time (as Hasbro stated in an interview), both lines will run concurrently and thus this is just a different name to distinguish these movie figures intended for an "older" audience from both the other generations line and the more kiddie toys. And the word they chose is Premier which is a play on words on the fact that its movie related (premiere) and in a similar vein to the first edition toys of before. The higher price is, as Va'al said, purely capitalism hidden in the shape of a nice box.
One thing to Zelze though, I didnt find most RID Prime toys t be gimicky, many were in the same vein as the first editions, like Wheeljack for instance. And their Optimus and Megatron were as complex as their first edition counterparts. Plus there is no denying which Vehicon toy is better
Overcracker wrote:I would wager its going to be similar to what they did with the Premium Edition figures for the 2007 Movie Line. Where certain main line figures got "premium" paint jobs.
Pretty sure you would lose that bet. There is nothing of these that indicate they are anything close to those aside from a misinterpreted word. These are coming first in the line (unlike the ones you mentioned) and they are coming as part of the standard retail line unveiled already, they are also a mix of new molds and older ones (again, unlike the idea of only being premium versions of existing molds) and lastly these arent in any way premier paint jobs, especially when you compare this bumblebee to the original. The only thing this has in common with the premium line is 5 letters.
In the end, there is 0 evidence at all that this is anything else than just your standard movie line. Toyfair may finally give us more evidence against that but for now there is none.

Yeah, shame about the weird thigh-leg ratios and the monkey arms, beast mode looks epic though

It means feeling retroactively cheated when you realize that a later release of a figure offers more or something better than the one they first gave you.
Like how this
was revealed after this guy came out
Or how these two were priced the same with the one with way more accessories came out later:

Eh, that's not really the same thing. In Slash's case, sure, the new figure will probably be a better fit with the G1 style repaints in the grays and silver colors and make him more appealing, but for the other examples they're representative of different versions of the same character. If what you want is a regular blue and red Prime you aren't going to get that from the Minicon and Power Serge versions no matter how many new things they come from. It's not like the original G2 Optimus Prime made '84 Optimus Prime no longer desirable thanks to all the extra stuff. Personally I'd take TAV-21 over the remold any day. As far as those deluxe figures go, I think of it more like the Power Serge remold came with extra stuff, not as the original came with less since it comes with the same number of accessories as pretty much all of the other figures in the line.

In my experience when I have to buy two versions of the same mold I just slap a purple autobot logo on the ugliest version And put it with the sg's.

Yeah that sucks, most SG figures are expensive so it's not worth it.
My big issue is when I buy a figure and a better version of the character comes out, like evasion prime. For space reasons, I try to never own more than one version of a character.

Character or mold? Like for instance do you only have 1 movie bumblebee toy? And only one classics Bumblebee toy? Or does the MP invalidate the rest? You got me curious.

Character. MP10V (yes I bought a ko) is my only Optimus, sold my prid prime when I got it. TR Hotrod means I won't buy the movie one that comes out this year.

I never owned the first toy, but I haven't seen good things about it. If they're going to rerelease Dinobot molds rather than give us new ones, why not Scorn? I own the AOE Scorn toy it's freakin' beautiful, IMO. Even the non-screen accurate color scheme felt perfect. The only compliant I have had w/ it is that the legs won't go on now, but that was more my fault (didn't get the difference between nail polish and nail polish remover on plastic at the time).
Posted by Evil Eye on February 9th, 2017 @ 12:57pm CST
This colour scheme is nice, but I honestly preferred the seafoam and uranium colours of the old version. It gave it a real "Cybertron Jungle Planet" vibe, albeit with far less cool sculpting and paint apps.
One thing I will say is, with the overall skeletal designs, I will be mildly upset if we don't get a version of the Dinobot molds in a bone/"fossilized" colour scheme. Slog in particular would look awesome in bleached bone white or fossil brown, and it would be a rare case where that marbley plastic they like to use would actually work well.

I second that, hence why I am so pissed. I bought the mold the first time because I was super curious and wanted every new Dinobot mold. But maaaaan, this guy was rough. And now I see him in a nice deco and I wish the one I had in my collection was that one because I could never buy this toy again. Good thing the tail isnt removeable, meaning that he might end up in a thrift 5 years from now not missing too much (but who knows if I will still be hunting so firecly then).
The ONLY thing cool about this toy is how they chose to integrate the modern raptor interpretation (with feathers) into robotic form. That deserves some merit. some
Posted by Sabrblade on February 9th, 2017 @ 1:11pm CST
I thought the same back before I got the figure.Black Hat wrote:A shame the robot mode is so hindered by the fixed wrists and bizarre placement of the feathers, because I always quite liked Slash's dino mode and elements of his robot mode. Now granted I've never had the toy in hand, but I honestly thought it looked OK.
Then I got the figure.

With Beast Wars it was a violence concern. But let's be real here, melee weapons have been prevalent in this franchise since the beginning. Sherman Dam anyone?
