We have some Transformers Seige War For Cybertron news for you today. Rob Springer found some listings on the Walgreens computer. Firstly, we see the War for Cybertron Siege assortment, which has a retail price of $17.99 USD. This is not the MSRP, this is simply what Walgreens chooses to sell them for in their store.

There is also a listing for deluxe Ratchet and this one is both outside the assortment and priced at $19.99. This gives a pretty good hint that like Wreck Gar, who was also singled out on the Walgreens database, Ratchet will be an exclusive figure.

We also see Walgreen's cost for these figures, which is over $13, meaning they are making less than $5 per deluxe sold at full price.

Medical Officer Ratchet being a pharmacy store exclusive is all kinds of apropos.

I LOL'ed to this ... to which I had to explain to my wife while I'm working on my laptop right now doing Seibertron stuff while she's watching "The Real Housewives of Some County I Could Care Less About", who probably didn't appreciate the irony of this as much as we do. This is pretty funny if you think about it. Thanks for pointing out something laugh worthy, Sabrblade. :)

Oh great, more Walgreens exclusives that will be seen by all 2 people who are insanely lucky to find them in store, just like wreck-gar :BANG_HEAD: . Sad thing is that it's a character I've been wanting for a very long time.

I wouldn't complain normally... you know if we could actually find the exclusives where they should be in stores. :BANG_HEAD:

Wreck gar was never found in US stores, never. He will be part of their massive holiday stocking. Just wait, he is sure to get there since there is no other US retailer Hasbro is shipping these to. And the same will happen with Ratchet one year from now.

Really? I could have swore that someone said they found it on the west coast back on the potpie forums. Must be my faulty memories. :HEADHURTS:

Also, holiday stocking? Hmm, wasn't exactly expecting that to be the time that Wreck-Gar shows up. I was expecting late July, early September. Oh well. Thanks for the heads up. ;)^

That's not even fair. Wreck-Gar should only just now start showing up. Most Walgreen's exclusives show up in bulk at some point, just like the Clone set which was widely available. You'll have your chance. Wreck-Gar is most likely "Christmas" stock and should be widely available soon.

It's too bad Hasbro didn't think of this for Walgreens back during Combiner Wars. It would have made getting that Ratchet retool/redeco a LOT less painful for many fans. You either had to invest almost $200 for a Japanese boxset release or you had to spend the money to attend a convention and go to a special class with limited seating or buy one of the leftovers on site.

I legitimately didn't know that Wreck-Gar was supposed to come out around now. :HEADHURTS: I'm not actually sure where the idea of them coming out earlier, I believe the only thing that pointed to an early release was the online Walgreens listing which said it was already in stock. Next time, I'll make sure not to instantly take that at face value. I think I need to call it tonight, as now I need to rethink a few other things I hopefully didn't confuse. Thanks again, guys & sorry for being rather negative. #-o

I'd actually argue a lightbar isn't a must. Ratchet's on Cybertron, acting as a field medic. He's not an ambulance yet. Save some money for more medical tools and maybe an alternate head? One for Cartoon, one for comics would be nice

Part of me kinda wants this to be the UW Ratchet released by Hasbro as an exclusive just for the people I know still want one, even though I don't really feel I want or need a combining Ratchet myself, but I feel like it's more likely going to be from Siege Ironhide instead. Guess we don't need to worry about what Ironhide's alternate head tooling is...(as if it were ever a question, really)

I'll have to see what this guy looks like to see if I want him. I'm already intending to grab Ironhide, and I don't like having to justify buying repaints with new heads, but I don't already have a Ratchet figure that I like, so...yeah, it'll depend on what he looks like and what he comes with, really. They had better give him a new weapon though, the field medic doesn't need a rocket launching hammer nor would it really be in character for him to have one.

Also starrhero, I think you might have been confused partially because one or more TF-selling sites, I think at least Robotkingdom, put up preorders for Wreck-Gar towards the start of summer saying he'd start shipping in August, so some people assumed he'd show up at retail around the same time.

Yeah, the Canadian Gamestop equivalent (EB Games, I think? I'm not Canadian, don't quote me on that) has Wreck-Gar already, just how like Optimal Optimus is actually out at retail there as well.

Given that those two are the only PotP figures left on my list that I want, and that Primal is the figure I've been looking forward to the most in that whole line, I'm paying very close attention (and am still slightly upset about the lack of munkky, but that's not for this thread).

Overall, point is, thinking Wreck-Gar is out/is supposed to be out at Walgreens already is a fairly easy mistake to make, given the circumstances.

I wonder how Hasbro will choose to paint up Ratchet's head for this Siege iteration. Will it be a white helmet with a black crest like the original Cartoon? A red helmet with a white crest like the original Marvel comics (and IDW comics)? A white helmet with a red crest like more recent iterations of the character (Animated, Prime, Cyberverse, etc.)? They can't really fall back on the original toy for this, obviously. So many possibilities.

You know, it would have been an incredible troll job of the original toys if they would have made an option to not transform the head on the siege versions and leave a little face sticker behind the windshield.

:-? ..................This is troubling because Walgreen exclusives usually show up around Oct./Nov. of every year. And there's been no info regarding SIEGE Ratchet until now, while Wreck-Gar has been rumored since February which had most people thinking/hoping he'd be a "May Mayhem" figure. The troubling part is that Ratchet might end up being the exclusive TF of Oct/Nov in 2019 knowing Walgreen's crappy track record.

Best case scenario is that this was supposed to be a TRU exclusive and once news hit about them closing down, Hasbro worked something out with Walgreen's at the last minute so we just might see Ratchet at the end of this year while the worse case is to have to wait for him until this time next year.

I'd bet that arrival date of 9/29 for Ratchet is 9/29/19. If so, we have a long wait ahead of us.

I'd love to be wrong!

Honestly, Walgreens exclusive collector toys have not been hard to get, even if you dont have a Walgreens near you. They are the only place in the states Hasbro is selling its stock to so there will be a bunch available. And that means there will be a bunch on the secondary market, to the point of Seibertron stating he couldnt even sell some back at cost.

Its a bigger problems for toys that are not colelctor oriented, like that Cyber Battalion shockwave or Prowl (or even several RID toys that werent exclusive at all). The lack of general interest, means there end up being less online and thus sellers can charge much higher for those interested.

So basically, if you dotn have walgreens near you, just wait a year and go check on e-bay and get him for $25-$30 + shipping

PLUS we know takara is releasing these toys. So like wreck gar, you can simply buy it off amazon japan , eventually.

I'm pretty sure the 9/29 date is wrong for any year. If you look, that date is only associated with the regular Siege deluxes. So 9/29 of this year is too early and 9/29 of next year is way too late.

If you look at the Ratchet Listing, the arrival date is blank.

I'm pretty sure this is just an early hint of next year's Walgreens exclusive. First off, remember this is inside walgreens info and not intended for us to know yet, so it isn't like they are letting us know way too early, we aren't supposed to know yet.

I believe the February Wreck Gar info you are referencing was the package photos from Russia, but we actually knew about him much earlier than that. If I remember correctly, we had a similar walgreens leak about Wreck Gar over 2 years ago. Early enough that he would have been part of CW (just slightly late) instead of PotP. I believe he was going to be part of the Sky Lynx combiner originally.

So as I wrote in the article, you will only see this new Ratchet a year from now for the 2019 holiday season.

Which is what I was worried about. We all knew that a Ratchet was remold was coming via Ironhide, it's annoying having to deal with Walgreen's. I'm actually skipping that exclusive Wreck-Gar (who in my opinion isn't better than RTS versions of the mold) but it looks like they're managing to pull me back in to hunt in their stores for him next year.

It will be something new, no doubt. Trust me, you wouldn't want the UW ratchet to be released in Siege. Hasbro would just make it bumpy and remove the combiner component.

Oh, I agree. I didn't bring up UW Ratchet because I wanted it, I just mentioned him because I know other people on this site have been lamenting Hasbro's use of the CW/UW Ratchet tooling/mold and were hoping it would get a proper release in PotP as an exclusive like this. Hence, it would be cool for those individuals if this WAS that Ratchet, but I highly doubt it is and would personally prefer that it isn't.

Unfortunately that mold being used as Ratchet for the Botcon class pretty much prevented it also getting released any other way by Hasbro. They would have really pissed off those fortunate enough to have gotten a Botcon Ratchet if they were to suddenly make him available for $25.

Why would it need to be anything else? It's Ratchet!

It will be something new, no doubt. Trust me, you wouldn't want the UW ratchet to be released in Siege. Hasbro would just make it bumpy and remove the combiner component.

Hasbro has done it before, though, and there was not so much wailing and gnashing of teeth. A few years after the 2007 BotCon set that gave us Classics Thundercracker, Dirge, and Thrust, we got all three at regular retail as part of the Generations line.

I remember stalking the forums when Universe Thundercracker came out, wasn't it a huge deal?

...Years later, and to a significant amount of wailimg and gnashing of Teeth. Dirge was unique enough because Hasbro remolded the wings, and Hasbro made diffedent wings for Thrust than what Botcon designed, and even then Thrust was still a sticking point. Thundercracker got a lot of flack though.

Minor corrections:

First, CW Ratchet wasn't "prevented from getting released any other way by Hasbro" due to its being a BotCon release. The whole reason it was released via BotCon was so that it could see some kind of release by Hasbro at all. Along with the tooling for Counterpunch, Reflector, and Nemesis Prime (which saw release as Toxitron due to e-HOBBY's Grand Scourge releasing making the intended Nemesis Prime redundant. Hasbro was done with CW and had all these leftover toolings that they hadn't used and so gave them to Fun Pub and told them to use them so that people could at least get their hands on them in some way since Hasbro wasn't going to release them anywhere else.

For all we know, maybe Hasbro did shop around and offer the Ratchet tooling as a store exclusive for any retailer to scoop up if they wanted it, and maybe no retailer was simply willing to take the figure and all turned down Hasbro's offer. We may never know, but we at least do know that the Fun Pub release of Ratchet (and the others) was done as a sort of last resort to get them out into Hasbro's market in some way.

Meanwhile, the Classics line was originally meant to be just a filler line that had no intention of going anywhere beyond its offerings in 2006-2007. The BotCon 2007 exclusives happened because that was the original stance behind Hasbro's expectations of the Classics line. Hasbro wasn't going to complete the two Seeker trios at retail since they wanted to focus all their main attention on the new 2007 Movie line. So Fun Pub offered to fill in the blanks left (ironically) unfilled by the short-lived filler line. It wasn't until after Hasbro saw the immense success and positive reaction that the Classics line had garnered that they would make its continuation in the form of the Universe line in 2008, with the brand's 25th anniversary in 2009 very probably also playing a factor in the decision to create the Universe line as well.

In spite of Hasbro's continuing the spirit of the Classics line via Universe, they still didn't put out retail versions of Thundercracker, Dirge, or Thrust in Universe (instead putting out obscure Seeker Acid Storm and even a second Starscream, no less). In fact, the lack of those three Seekers (and any of the BotCon 2007 toy exclusive characters) in Universe along with the inclusion of the Universe Darkwind toy (which fans were able to successfully finagle a way to combine with BotCon 2007 Dreadwind into a rather cool-looking Dreadwing super-jet mode) seems to strongly imply that Hasbro at the time still viewed the BotCon 2007 exclusives as being the Hasbro Classics releases of those characters.

It would not be until the new Generations line of 2010 that Hasbro finally put out retail versions of Thundercracker, Dirge, and Thrust, but not before something else happened that enabled to them to release at least the latter two. It was Takara who first took matters into their own hands for the Henkei! Henkei! releases of these three jets. Up until then, Hasbro had only put out tooling for the standard Seeker type and Ramjet-specific tooling for the Conehead type. While Thundercracker would be a simple redeco, Takara stepped up to make the newly-tooled Dirge and Thrust wings themselves, without Hasbro's help.

As such, it was this new Takara-original tooling that enabled Hasbro to put out their own releases of Dirge and Thrust, without stepping on the toes of the already-released BotCon 2007 versions of these characters since their wings were each different from the Takara-made ones. And since Hasbro was gonna be putting out retail versions two of the three Seekers who got BotCon releases in 2007, they probably figured that they might as well round out the trio by releasing a Thundercracker for retail as well, probably figuring that enough time had passed between 2007 and 2010-2011 to release the three at retail, especially after each had already gotten two other releases prior from first Fun Pub and then from Takara. No sense in Hasbro holding back anymore by that point.

Really wish they would have taken a pic of Optimus next to white inner Magnus, otherwise it's a nice spread.

It's nice to see Cog being used as a backpack/weapons for someone other than Sideswipe. Makes me wonder how he and Magnus could combine :-?

As I said in the Figure King thread, this group shot is awesome and finally gives us a real sense of scale for the line. I wish Ironhide were included, though, because I want to see if he's a larger Deluxe figure to better scale with the likes of Sideswipe and Optimus Prime. Ideally, he should be somewhere in between the two in terms of robot mode height. If he's only as tall as Sideswipe, I might just pass on Ironhide. It wouldn't be enough of an upgrade for me from the Universe 2008 mold (which I happen to actually like).

Seeing Optimus combined with Cog make me really, really hope for a Star Saber who can do this with a weaponizer Victory Leo. Come on, Hasbro, don't drop the ball on this like you did with Horrocons.

By the way I'm quite a fan of Magnus being a slightly smaller Leader-class figure, as he'd fit in better with the Voyagers and Deluxes, be it a movie-era character lineup or the Wreckers.
