- TAV05 is "Fixit"
- TAV09 is Swoop or Swerve, taking character misreading into account
So TakaraTomy too, huh? Something tells me it'll go the way of Prime with ratings (it bombed).

swoop and snarl are obvious choices for toys and the rest of the dinobots will most likely make appearances as well. good to see knockout and my namesake dreadwing making a return.

Roadblock might be Drift. Just going by the order of American releases.
I'm curious if Knockout and Dreadwing will be re-appearing in RID15. Knockout survived the events of Predicons Rising , and apparently turned Autobot (or at least joined the winning side).
It's entirely possible he may pop back up in this series. He could always be one of the escaped Decepticons. They could have a field day writing his reappearance. Having him suck up to Bumblebee and try to squirm his way out of being imprisoned.
Dreadwing could also show up. I know he died in Prime, but if Transformers died for good in every series...well, you wouldn't have any series.

Why would Knockout want to escape? He pulled a full defection in Predacons Rising, and the Autobots let him stick around.

True, but think of it from an entertainment perspective: Which is better, a psychotic Decepticon medic turned heroic Autobot, or a prissy ex-Decepticon who is trying to wiggle his way out of his punishment?

For all we know, Swoop and Snarl could be AOE-colored redecos of the Animated molds, Knock Out could be the Beast Hunters figure (since Japan never got that toy in the Go! line), and Dreadwing could also be the Beast Hunters figure (which was also left out of Go!) but priced higher for some reason.

Unless it's meant to be a pre-Autobot Decepticon version of Grimlock whom Strongarm is trying to apprehend.

I never said he'd be particularly heroic. From an entertainment perspective, I think the better option is that he's on the Autobot side but still has Decepticon-y habits, and the other Autobots have had more luck changing some of them than they've had with others. For example, he occasionally "forgets" that he can't test fuel additives on someone without telling them about it first.

WAIT, what? What the heck?
Blades a psycho? When and where?
"Underneath Blade's aerodynamically designed steel skin beats the engine of your basic street fighter. He would much prefer using his rotor assemply to slash through a horde of Decepticons than to fly. But his function keeps him in the air most of the time, and that really fires his fuel. Not only is he prevented from engaging his enemies in hand-to-hand combat, but he can only strike at them from long-range air attack, which he considers unsporting and cowardly. "If I'm gonna destroy someone, I want his fuel spurting all over me, not the ground below," says Blades. But this doesn't preclude Blades from doing his job and doing it well, a fact of which his fellow Protectobots are deeply appreciative."
Yes, this does mean he prefers to fight in melee, but there's a difference between bloodthirsty and total psychopath. And that's only the Marvel version, the box version just says he's a skilled brawler and hates ranged combat.

"Rather use his rotor assembly to slash through a horde of Decepticons than to fly"
That's like the very definition of psycho. People accuse Movie Prime of being a psycho but G1 Blades is deranged. Just look at the G2 comics!
(Also I find it funny how people defend G1 Blades in spite of his main character trait being a bloodthirsty psychopath, but when Optimus Prime kicks arse in the movie we herenothing but "GIVCE ME YOUR FACE" jokes and complaints that their childhood was ruined.)

That's because one's from G1 and the other's from the movieverse. G1 is automatically perfect because it's G1. I have no idea how that works, but they assure me it's perfectly valid.

Bearing in mind the Fallen is a complete monster who viewed all other life as vermin, he deserved it. It's a badass moment that Simon Furman would probably have approved of, but people got butthurt because Movie prime actually got **** done and thus ruined their childhoods.
I forgot about that line, I will rewatch it tonight. I do like how Prime got SH!T done. I fondly remember those great 2 mins of DOTM where he takes out Shockwave.

There's G1 Prime, Optimus Primal, RID Prime, Unicron Trilogy Prime, Animated Prime... and those are just the ones that came out before ROTF. They've all been fairly different, and Movie Prime's thing was that he actually kills Decepticons rather than just slapping them on the wrist and sending them running (mainly as the Decepticons in the movies are utterly vicious and will happily murder humans- which is the one thing that REALLY grind's Prime's gears in every continuity. The fact that even he was sick of humanity by the 4th movie shows what a grim world the Movieverse is- and if the people you'd fought to save suddenly started murdering your close friends, wouldn't you be pissed off?)
Actually in that Larry King interview, Peter Cullen says that he plays Prime as the very same character throughout all the incarnations he portrayed. To him, they are all the same Prime (in tone/conviction/age etc).

And you know, I kind of love it for that. I dont know how it works psychologically but whenever I watch a transformers show, I am compelled to buy the toys. It usually helps if I see themtransform onscreen (with a believable transformation). It's probably why I have so many toys from the Cybertron line and so few from the movie line.

I'm having trouble connecting the Japanese prices with the toys we've already seen (Legion, One-Step, Three-Step, Warrior/Deluxe)... My best guesses are:
¥ 1,500: One-Step Changers and/or Legions
¥ 2,500: Warrior
¥ 3,600: Three-Step Changers
Dreadwing being ¥ 4,000 indicates he may actually be a Voyager, thus he may be a reuse of PRiD Dreadwing and not the BH one.

Haha, yeah that was one heck of a tangent. And I fuly agree with all your points as I had deduced something similar.

Or vice-versa. Though I hope not, what I want is for this version of Drift to travel the planet/galaxy/whatever with no destination in mind, righting wrongs and then vanishing as mysteriously as he came. In short, I'm hoping they write him as a drifter.
EDIT: Not just for the wordplay, I think "ex-bad guy who wants to make right" and "wandering swordsman" are two archetypes which would overlap well.

Sure, why not? Except obviously a samurai rather than a cowboy.

I swear I've seen this character type used in some fiction (TF or otherwise) before, but I can't put my finger on who the character was.

Nah, I missed out on seeing Rurouni Kenshin (and still haven't watched it), so that wouldn't be it.fenrir72 wrote:Samurai X? Kenshin Himura?

Well, Kenshin was a government killer once and now fights to make amends. He's red and carries a samurai.........
