Underbite: dog?
Steeljaw: wolf
Bisk: Lobster
Thunderhoof: stag
Hammerstrike: hammerhead shark
And Cliffjumper? I thought he was killed off early on Prime, so it must be the G1 guy like Prowl.
By the way, is there any reason to suspect that Japan will treat RID 2015 as a sequel to Animated, given the ID numbers used (TA-# for Animated, TAV# for RID 2015)
Posted by Metroplex79 on December 9th, 2014 @ 10:24am CST
As above, the Cliffjumper and Prowl look G1-y.

Yeah, they are all Animals. I dont know if they will explain it as a side effect of hiding out on earth. But it's animals in robot mode, that's what's interesting.

I'm diggin' these animal based Decepticons.
I hope we get a warrior class of that stag.
I was so going to try to avoid this line.
Oh well.
...and that Prowl toy sure looks like Streak to me.

Good call! Bisque is indeed a type of soup, usually based on crustaceans like, here, a lobster. Gotta love Hasbro's sense of humor
And crud, with the animal-cons I'm slowly being drawn into the line, despite promising myself to avoid it. Don't ask.

I feel the same way (as does Cobotron). I actually find this quite original. These decepticons are original characters with original designs that dont play much of an homage to anything previous. That is quite rare when you think of it (both Prime and Animated were all about homages and inspiration from previous lines). I might just get the decepticons (if made in warrior class) and have them battle my Prime line autobots with some Beast Hunters dragons thrown in for good measure.
And I like the Bisk name, it's very cute.
The fun thing about this line is that I wont feel rushed to get them or to get them all (as opposed to Combiner wars where one MUST get them all before one particular member gets sold out). I can just wait for a discount. For some reason, I am always more open to trying out discounted transformers and rarely regret a purchase.

Airazor's gender in the Hasbro line is due to Beast Wars story editors Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio's insistence. The original Airazor toy wasn't developed with a specific gender in mind, and Bob & Larry wanted a larger female presence in the show, and the Airazor toy seemed as good a choice as any. They requested the change early enough that the toy's packaging bio could have its pronouns changed to female. The later Transmetal version of Airazor was the first American-released Transformer mold created to represent a female character.Cobotron wrote:I think Airazor was always intended to be female. Japanese love their super heroins.
In the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, Airazor was made male.

Looks more like G1 Cliffjumper along with G1 Prowl included here because G1.YRQRM0 wrote:Bleh, color me unimpressed by animal-based modes/names. And Prowl's grey for some reason, and Underbite's colors are reversed, and, well, you get the idea.
I hope Underbite and Hammerstrike get decent toys.

Bisk because his name is Bisk.
Steeljaw looks interesting enough.
And Thunderhoof reminds me of the song Thunderhorse by Dethklok.

Yeah, it's basically the TF: Prime art style animated in cel-shaded CGI instead of pure CGI.Delta Magnus wrote:The cartoon actually doesn't look half bad, I have to admit. Very kiddy but that's not a bad thing.

I ordered the legion figures. Are the 3-step changers supposed to be $22? The one-step changers are available but sold by 3rd party sellers at a mark up. Now where are the combiner wars figures?

3-step changers are priced correctly. They're this line's equivalent of Voyagers, kind of like how the Warriors are the Deluxe equivalent.

Flip & Change/Smash & Change would be a more apt comparison than Voyagers.ScottyP wrote:chuckdawg1999 wrote:I ordered the legion figures. Are the 3-step changers supposed to be $22? I disagree. They're the closest thing this line has to Voyagers, they're just really, really simple ones. The Smash/Flip Change figures were pure gimmick toys. These are at least attempting to have somewhat accurate robot modes, and the transformations, while simple, aren't one-step like the Smash/Flip change guys.
After typing that, I guess they're in between voyagers and flip change, aren't they? Eh, I'll leave it typed as is, more fun that way

The Closest thing we are going to get is a 3 Step Grimlock for now.

My son's Flip/Smash'n'Change Grimlock & Optimus are pretty much the same height as my Masterpiece Grimlock & Optimus (MP10).
Unless you're referring to the smaller One-Step Changers, which are probably somewhere between the Deluxe and old Scout class.

On the plus side the Generations Combiner Wars are decent looking. Will only have to keep pace with one line this year.

No thanks. Buying a TF at retail is enough highway robbery for my taste, let alone these insulting prices.
I never understood, in all my years of collecting, why people are so impatient for a product that will be 1/2 price at regular retail in a month or so. They pay a premium, and for what?

Warrior Class is akin to the Simplified Deluxe Class from the tail end of Beast Hunters. They should be the same rough size, but not as complex as regular Deluxes. And it seems that will be the only Class alongside Legion Class without any real gimmicks, like One-Step or Three-Step Transformations.
By the by, I noticed the Warriors are not numbered, or have a Series number at all. Very peculiar.

Wolfman Jake wrote:I wonder if Hasbro plans to roll out a "proper" series of deluxes and voyagers for RID 2015 in the Generations line at some point. The Movie 4 figures were technically split between a subline of the Generations branding and the more kid friendly "RID" assortments. Maybe Hasbro is starting with the kid-centric product first, gauging the interest in the cartoon after it launches, and then deciding whether going forward with adult collectible versions of the RID 2015 cast makes financial sense. Maybe that means waiting until 2016, or maybe they could run such a subline concurrently with the Generations Combiner Wars line as happened this year with the movie versus regular Generations lines.
Well, Hasbro did claim the Warrior series is for kids and collectors alike, so...

They can always change their minds. If the roll out of the TF Prime toys is any indication, Hasbro is not shy about changing horses mid-stream.
