We have some more news regarding the Robots in Disguise line with more sightings. While the latest warriors are now out, fellow Seibertronian Stevo has also found Power Surge Starscream and yours truly has found the individual weapon minicons. While it may seem like we have waited a very long time to get these minicons, they are technically falling within the expected release time since they are the third wave of mini-cons this year. It's just that the previous two waves were not stocked at the big box retailers. This first weapon mini-con wave consists of Tricerashot, Bashbreaker, Lord Doomitron and Weapon Slipstream. These mini-cons were found in a newly stocked Walmart in Montreal for $7.92 CAD while the Power Surge Starscream was found at Toysrus in Whitby for $49.99 CAD.

Canada, Australia, Europe, pretty much everyone seems to get stuff in stores long before we do and in bigger numbers. And sometimes even at better prices, it's been years since I've seen a Transformer on clearance or even on sale for that matter. At least that's how it is for the stores available to me. I think Target may have had a coupon last year?

My Walmart got some new Transformers in a couple nights ago. But they totally sold out & the pegs are completely empty again. You would never know they restocked unless you happened to be there.

Seems like every other toy line is fully stocked. Only the Transformers section is a huge gaping hole of nothing. :-(

And so far every store around here gets 1 Galvatron & 1 Sentinel Prime at a time. What is THAT about? There's only 1 of each in a case? And they never get more than 1 case at a time? Didn't they just do their reset for Christmas? Isn't the whole point of resetting for Christmas so they can stock more toys & make more money during the holidays??? Or am I nuts? :HEADHURTS:

Ole Will drives me up a wall when he talks about his TRU and the ways they operate so superior to America TRU's. I can say with confidence that the last time I bought a TRU transformer was 3 years ago and that was Prime Shockwave (other than Clash Sideswipe last year)

What I couldnt beleive about your Yankees was how your walmarts didt even have a stanard price for a class within a line. That is just bonkers to me. I cannot imagine ordering online and having to pay more for Prowl than Mirage on Walmart. But you guys have very good pricing policies. Your TRU matches price with Amazon. Speaking of which, you actually have Amazon. Amazon.ca is a joke and stocks only a handful of Transformers a year. Plus you have Hasbro toy shop and its free shipping offers, only americans can profut from that.

Also, Emerge, about prices while I have been able to get them cheaper, there was some effort with using policies. Canada sells TFs for about the same price. Our deluxes are the equivalent of $16 US but our minicons and Titans Masters are close to $6.50 so you definitely beat us there.

Has to be shipped and sold by Amazon to qualify for price matching. Same for Target and Walmart I believe. Give it another shot, maybe the employee was in the dark or lazy. If they refuse, then pull up the page that states the policy on your phone. I had to have that handy at other stores before.

You sure? Its corporate policy:

We will match prices from selected online competitor websites, including Walmart.com, Target.com, BestBuy.com, Gamestop.com, Macy’s.com, Kohl’s.com, JC Penny.com, Michaels.com, Hobby Lobby.com, Barnes & Noble.com, Sears.com, Kmart.com, Bed, Bath & Beyond.com, buybuyBaby.com, Meijer.com, FredMeyer.com, diapers.com, BabyDepot.com, LEGO.com, YoYo.com, Amazon.com.

Lots of fans who know this have been using TRU to their advantage du to their usual better stock. They use other people's prices and TRU's toys. Its very helpful for when TRU will raise their prices during off seasons, like what we had 2 months ago. Once you know how to deal with the policy, TRU can be a great advantage to you.

That TRU I went to last weekend was selling the deluxe Sky Reign Autobots for $23 each and Titans Return deluxe for $17. Devastator was $170, but Fort Max was $150. :HEADHURTS:

What you think we should actually lower the price of the old stock so it moves? Nah we're just gonna keep the prices higher than the new stuff.

We have a couple of new sightings sent our way from across the States, for the Transformers: Robots in Disguise line! First up from a Toys'R'Us in Cary, North Carolina, via ScottyP, we get the new Power Surge 10-step Starscream figure, complete with his Mini-Con Lancelon ($29.99). And via Multicron in Fairfax, Virgina, we have confirmation of the TRU exclusive Deluxes, including Optimus Prime, Starscream, and Paralon, plus the Bumblebee and Steeljaw 2-pack with Stasis Pod!

UPDATE: Site owner Seibertron has also come across the full load in Schaumburg, Illinois. Photo proof below! The figures are out there, Seibertronians. Go hunt.

Remember, if you have any sightings to notify us with, please email us via the contact form, or flag it up in the Sightings database and regional boards! Happy hunting.

Was at walmart today and saw pegs for the minicon weaponizers but the price was $2.50, so either hasbro is finally pricing things right or its a clearance price for the old minicons. Speaking of the old minicons with the weaponziers showing up i guess waves 3 & 4 wont be making it to stores, hell at this rate id be surprised if anything made it to the stores.

Yep, I wanted 4 minicons from waves 3 and 4 and I can't find them. They ended up at TJMaxx and stuff and there is nothing at the ones near me

Probably the old minicons. I saw them at walmart at that price and finally took notice of them. Hard to pass up transformers that cheap even if I have little interest. Would be nice if those tags stuck around for the weapon guys though.

Another day, another round of reviews! Thanks to Youtubers Chuckdawg1999 and emgo316 we bring to you our latest round of reviews, this time focusing on the Robots in Disguise Power Surge line. Up first is Chuck's review of Power Surge Sideswipe and his minicon Windstrike, which can be found below:

Chuckdawg1999 wrote:Power Surge Sideswipe is part of the simplified line of RID figures. Sideswipe is a chunky robot, that reminds me of 80s Transformer. Activating the sounds is a bit awkward, with or without the Minicon attached. Most collectors will pass on this but I can really see kids enjoying it.

Up next are Emgo's reviews of Power Surge Starscream with Lancelon and Power Surge Optimus Prime with Aerobolt. Check them out:

Wave 3 and 4 did make it to stores, just no the big box ones. All those waves were sent to the market six stores like TJ Maxx, marshalls and the rest.

Speaking of minicons, do we know what wave 6 is already?

Clash of the Transformers Sightings listings have been updated to include the two newest items, Power Surge Starscream and the Island Showdown set. Sorry it took so long, if you notice something like that in the future shoot me a PM or make a post in this thread and I'll see it sooner ;)

On another topic, speaking of the Decepticon Island Showdown set, not sure it's been pointed out that Bumblebee and Steeljaw are a little different. By "a little different" I mean there is one teeny-tiny difference: the smooth silver plastic with clearly visible metallic flake mixed in from the initial Warrior Class releases of the toys has been replaced in this set by a much grayer, matte silver. It's actually more noticeable from far away then up close if you just glance at the toys. Not a big thing but still, at least there was something a little new outside of the cool accessories!

Honest question because with all the time I spend on just keeping listings up to date it's super frustrating to see posts like this. I'm not perfect (see immediately above) but it's usually pretty on point.

I thought it was worth a mention anyway as I was watching some Youtube reviews and people didn't seem to always find where to store the launchers.

He can hold two swords (and the launcher) in one hand like a staff - but not easily - I even tried to jam the axe on there to make it look like a bow but it's pretty loose on the bottom sword and it all falls to pieces if you look at it funny... so not really 100% practical. may also require the fore arm mode to even work.

Image

Also the screw hole on his backside is compatible with the sword storage too - not much use as it sticks out oddly "But it's a thing - you can do".

Image

As the large hole in his axe is 5mm and so are the sword handles if you are giving him one sword as a weapon - say with the launcher - then the other one sitting one sides on his back cross wise how has a free 5mm post on it for you to slip the hole on the axe onto.

Image

Image

Looks a bit like Armada Megatron's Cannon like this - I thought.
So there is actually more than one way to store the axe - other than the leg.

Possibly for kids to figure out their own thing, to promote imagination.

Or Hasbro just plain forgot about it, or didn't care about in the first place. Wouldn't be the first time this happened, look at the Titan Master Class' weapon modes.

The titan master class weapon modes are very well documented in the instructions. A better example would be the extra build a figure energon figures made from the clear platic parts of the first 2 waves of minicons.

I've talked about it in my videos, and I plan to REALLY talk about it in my Starscream video, but one of the gimmicks from RID is simplified transformations, that can fit on the back of the card, so parents can look and see how hard it is to transform the figure. The other gimmick is the mobile game. The end result is that ALL the directions have to fit in a relatively small space, on the upper left section of the card, causing steps to be combined or omitted entirely, due to the mobile game requiring instructions and warning being printed in multiple languages.

Simplified transformations, or simplified instructions? Because the warrior toys have more complex transformations than any CW toy.

As advertised by Hasbro the RID line features simplified Transformations for younger fans, the end result is instructions that have to fit, in a predetermined space on the back of the card. More often than not steps are combined or omitted outright. Some Warrior toys are more complex than a CW deluxe.

Well, the CW deluxes by definition have to be simplified. They need to pull off four modes, two of which have to fit into an exact height - and it's not like normal deluxes where the robot modes vaguely need to be the same size, the leg modes literally have to be the exact same height or else the whole combiner falls down. Combiners are a gimmick that get in the way of a figure being as complex as it could be; comparing figures that can combine to figures that just have to turn from a vehicle/beast mode to a robot mode is not a fair comparison. At least try and compare them to Thrilling 30 or Titans Return.

I for one am very glad that the simplification was just marketting speech but that the toys ended up being as complex as before. To be honest, the only toys that I feel suffered from wanting to simplify things were the AOE Leaders and Gen Leader Megatron who is far too simple for such a big and expensive toy. But yeah, I get what you are saying now. The toys arent simpler, but since they were advertized as such, they dont want to underdeliver. Too bad

PS: here was the actual blurb

Each TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE WARRIORS figure features a character from the all new animated series, TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE, coming to Cartoon Network in 2015. Warrior figures feature classic puzzle play for fans that want the traditional TRANSFORMERS experience. These detailed figures are great for collectors and kids as
they convert from robot to vehicle in 10 steps or less and come with a unique weapon accessory. High articulation means more action play, as fans can pose their figures and play out their favorite battles from the new animated series with GRIMLOCK, BUMBLEBEE, STEELJAW, and STRONGARM. Each sold separately. Take the action to your mobile device.
Download the TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE app to your digital device, then scan the shield to unlock a character or weapons or more!

Bot CW Dead End and TR Skullsmasher take about 10 steps to transform. Warrior Class Quillfire takes 15 actual steps to transform (when counting each action as a step), making him more complex than any deluxe in the gen line for the past year. Both Gen Tankor and Jihaxus took 9 steps to transform.

With no exageration, the RID warriors are as complex, if not more complex, than any deluxe TF in recent memory.

If I put my think like Hasbro head on - I'd say Hasbro see Quillfire as having less than 10 steps. with out checking the actual instructions - excluding the weapon storage it seems like 9 steps (in Hasbro terms).

But the good thing about him is he's not to much a pest to Transform - so he's actually on of my principle GO TO fiddle-formers in recent months for that reason.

One fun observation about Quillfire is if you jam his spare quill in that gap near his rear window - it looks like he's carrying a surfboard.

I disagree. I think making them simpler makes it easier to pull off, but not a necessity of being a combiner. I'd say it's a natural expectation for a figure that has to pull off four modes to be a more complex figure than one that turns from one thing to another. There are a number of ways that the current crop of CW figures could have been more complex without effecting the height or length of the limbs. Like adding a locking mechanism to Brawl's torso or find a way to make the arms on the jets less obvious in jet mode or give the cars feet or bring back wrists.

Let's not make excuses for Hasbro here; the CW figures are simpler to cut costs and nothing more. Things haven't been the same since the end of Universe started simplifying figures noticeably and the start of Generations when the entire line shrunk, and then more recently when paint apps have been at a low even within TR. All while raising the MSRP.

I'm not saying that an added gimmick necessitates simplicity; only that a gimmick no matter what it is will be intrusive to the gimmick's design. Due to the necessity to incorporate the gimmick, it takes away from what the figure might have been on it's own. If Brawl didn't have to become a leg and an arm, he very likely would have been a better individual figure.
