STEVEWING!!!
Posted by King Kuuga on May 19th, 2013 @ 7:09pm CDT
I write for the site now? I wasn't aware of this. I thought I just submitted an email.
Anyway, one the one hand, it seems to be an all new mold, which is awesome. On the other hand, it's not the deluxe, which is totally not radical.

It looks decent, but a domestic release of the Deluxe is way overdue.

WingSteve, with his gloriously Shockwave-purple deco, will have grand adventures with CarSteven and MiniSteve! Now if only Hasbro would do the Deluxe, so we could have a full four-man party!
(P.S. Sir Not-appearing-in-this-adventure is KibbleSteve, since he never showed up around me. )

Guess I'll add "as many flying Steves as possible" to the checklist along with the Abominus gift set.

I know, I was just pointing out the mistake in a humorous manner. Or trying to.

Hasbro can't do Deluxe Jet Vehicon without pulling all that extra plastic for the wings from some other deluxe figure, which would probably make it Scout-sized. They most likely have not engineered or prepared such a figure to fill out the Prime line, so short of a run of all-Jet Vehicons which would most stores probably wouldn't buy and which might break shipping weight limitations, the best we can hope for is that they get used as some convention exclusive or something.

Has some 3rd party company made wings that just plug into the weapon holes on the PRID mold?
It wouldn't look all that eloquent with the wheels still being present, but for those of us desiring a proper Steve airforce, it'd be a LOT more pragmatic than importing hordes of Arms Micron vehicons.
And yes, this thing is awesome enough that I'll buy at least four. And if some enterprising KO meister does a 5-up of the mold for under $20, I'll buy even more of that. Because army-building with a few lies is still kidding yourself less than having a swarm of Cyber-Steves attack FE Bulkhead through forced-perspective.
If Hasbro finds a way to make a proper deluxe release work, I'll shut up about this. Maybe they could bulk the box up to Voyager with random Predacon bones or Mech agents; we don't know that the latter are all dead, do we?

Or even pack it with some random Legion class figure, that'd be a great idea.

The trick is to make it something else collectors would also want to troop-build with to prevent any shelfwarming, so...maybe that could be the Vehicon-general repaint of this toy! Yeah, I could realistically see that as a Target exclusive down the road.

Yeah, that or a two-pack with some deserving figure. They could even give us the Tank or Helicopter Vehicons from the Prime game if they were adventurous enough to make that mold.

They are all hanging out in a bar with Breakdown, Unicron, Animated Blackout and Hydrodive Bumblebee.

Steve is a generic name frequently afforded to nameless minions by fans. Not sure where it started, but it's a pretty common thing to do.
Other examples: In Chuggaaconroy's LP of Pikmin, he refers to a red pikmin as "Steve."
It personifies a character that otherwise has no character or development to speak of, but is obviously a sentient character.

Ahh, thanks! That does make it funnier now. Too bad the Vehicons have no personalities to speak of.

I want to say the first use of Steve being attributed to the Vehicons came from fellow Seibertron user Godzillabot Primal (God bless his little soul, he will surely be missed), but I'm not quite sure.

I always call nameless minions Steve, and I know there are others that do it out of habit as well, lol. And the Vehicons -have- spoken on occasion, so we've caught snippets of their personas.

I know what you're getting at but it's not what your words say, just FYI.
I'm gonna be honest, I like that there's diversity between the Cyberverse line and the bigger line, rather than them just being big and small versions of the same characters. But on the other hand, I would like it if some characters like Hardshell and the Jet/Air Vehicon got larger toys. I'd also like if the Terrorpreds got more articulated figures, but I'm okay with their sizes. Even Hun-Gurrr's.

Why not put the Jet Vehicon in a bigger box and call it a VOYAGER? Add a light-up gizmo and some extra weapons to fill it out, and BAM: Jet Vehicon's CAN be sold in the USA!
I don't understand why Hasbro didn't consider doing that with Breakdown. I get he's too expensive for Voyager class, but add some stuff/accessories and bump him up to "Weaponizer" class or whatnot. $30 for Breakdown is much better than $60.
Re: Cyberverse Jet Vehicon - THIS is why I even started collecting the Cyberverse line: too many figures not seeing deluxe release (i.e. Tailgate and other recolors). Plus, it's the only way to obtain Skyquake with a reasonable amount of effort and cash.
I can't wait to see how scarce these Jet Vehicon's are! With all of us considering an army of them, I can see a collector clearing out a store inventory in one trip and no restocks for months (if at all).

Then everyone would complain that we're paying too much for such a "small voyager."
Moral: you can't please the fandom. Quit trying.
Add a light-up gizmo
Where have you been, kid? They dropped that gimmick.

Why do they need to release a deluxe character that only showed up in the cartoon in a flashback for 10 seconds? Besides, Tailgate's the only "recolor" from the show. And may I remind you that during PRiD there were only five toy-only characters out of a toyline with 22 figures. They didn't need to fill it up with more toy-only "nobodies," because in Prime, the toyline's there to accommodate the show, not the other way around.

Meaning we can still get a Hasbro new mold version of a Jet Vehicon or Breakdown, a new mold for Airachnid or, in a worst case scenario, a heavy retool of the car Vehicon in Beast Hunters spikes/colors.

You can't please the fandom is a COP-OUT. Do a cursory look and you'll notice something amazing! It's called "repetition". There are lots of opinions out there, but isn't it amazing how even the ones that get repeated a few thousand times still don't matter? What you're doing is comparing 5 people's opinions against that of a few hundred - go ahead and ignore the 5 people, but don't tell me Hasbro should ignore a concentrated opinion of say, "please release Hardshell as a Voyager!!!" It's always sad to me when a business goes Nintendo - call yourself hardcore but remember that the non-customers are paramount (because they outnumber your loyal customers and equal infinite profit potential).
The light up feature was used in the Prime Voyagers, so I don't know what you're talking about. If it's a spring-loaded, transforming gun that also lights up, that doesn't count as "light up"?
Prime comes before the toys? You do realize Hasbro is a toy company, right? The toys are ALWAYS first. As much integrity as you think Prime has (and I think so, too), I don't know how it's so easy for you to assume that Hasbro didn't lay out certain directives in relation to how they were planning the toys.
I didn't mean Tailgate should be a deluxe, per se (as his character wasn't even relevant). I was just hoping for more deluxes. And for the record, if they have the Cliffjumper mold already, it's not a big thing to recolor and re-release him as Tailgate (as they did with the legion). So I'm not even sure why you're against a deluxe Tailgate...
