One of our readers has notified us that Power of the Primes Wave 2 Deluxe Class figures are showing up on Amazon.com for 16.99. Please do note that they seem to be stocked for this price on and off so there may be some fluctuations as items are purchased and re-stocked. It may be particularly tricky to find some of the more popular figures in this wave for this price for that reason. If you are having difficulty finding them at this price, Target is having an in store sale of Power of the Primes Deluxes so that may also be a good option. Good luck!

Also, totally got Moonracer for the Target sale price of 14.99 today. WITH the card that I wanted, too!

It's the fact that Amazon can have 3rd party (non hasbro) sellers that charge more that 16.99. When hasbro stocks them they are at that price, 3rd party sellers often want more so when the ones hasbro stocks sell out the price goes back up. It can be tricky to get them at the standard price online when they are hard to find.
I looked for her today but my local Target was host to nothing but crickets. Oh well. Happy for you though!

At $89.99 for the full wave, and $4 shipping, that's only $1.75 over the retail $16.99 a figure. Given sales tax here is 9.25%, I only overpaid by $0.18 per figure...

I still count it, but if we need to get picky, we can call them half modes, so Primal has 2.5 modes, and Optimal has 3+0.5+0.5 = 4, so 6.5 modes overall.
Still counts.
One is by itself, the other is attached to something else in an entirely different role.
It's my head canon dude, much like SG Roddy
Primal reminds me of Energon Landmine and Bulkhead. Bulkhead's 'brute mode' consisted of combining with his drone in robot mode, and his attack mode consisted of riding on his drone in helicopter mode. Not too different from Primal.
But Primal also reminds me of Earth X Bruce Banner, so there's definitely fodder for some weird head canon there...

Spreading the joint open far enough to remove the toe requires either removing three screws and disassembling the entire lower leg, or removing two screws and carefully spreading the the leg just far enough that the toe will come out without cracking the lower leg. Doing it the first way is certainly less risky, and was what I did for the left leg, but on the right leg, one of the screws was already stripped, such that I had no way to remove it.
Unfortunately, if you spread the joint far enough that toe will come out, you've spread it more than far enough for the spring in Elita Infin1te's shoulder to lock to pop through to the other side. On my fully disassembled leg, fixing that made me feel like I had simultaneously too many fingers and too few. On the partially disassembled leg, fixing it was physically impossible.
Long story short, Elita-1 stands slightly better, but in combined form one of her arms will likely require gravity to hold it in place.

That sucks! That's exactly why I was hoping later runs would fix this issue, like we saw with the running change in that one peg hole in Starscream's back for his wing assembly in robot mode. If Hasbro doesn't fix this and Takara doesn't either, I'll just leave well enough alone. Sorry that your figure came out a bit worse for your troubles, Caelus.

I did the repair swap in less than 10 minutes with minimal trouble or fuss.
Do what you gotta do, but I can't see leaving an incorrectly figure that's easily remedied in that situation.

The feet can be assembled on the wrong sides, preventing her from planting them flat.

I've finally gotten all of the Wave 2 Deluxes thanks to Amazon and Walmart. Sludge just arrived from Amazon today. Now I await Wave 3.
Volcanicus is pretty fun. I'm a sucker for combiners. It's so much fun to combine them.

I quite like Volcanicus too, despite his flaws. Do you have his "lovehandles" holding some of the excess guns?

Haha. Yes, I do. If I hadn't accidentally thrown away Swoop's sword I would have that in his other hand.

I was trying to avoid getting Voyager Grimlock, and your pics have solidified that I don't need him.
Classics Grimlock fits in with the others nicely.

To each their own, but I don't think I'd be satisfied with Classic Grimlock. The gray plastic colors are way different compared to the rest of the Dinobot team. Also, Grimlock looks a lot more "updated" than the extremely G1-faithful looking Power of the Primes Dinobots. However, having a deluxe sized Grimlock does solve the inherent scale issue with the team, at least when compared only among each other. If you don't like PotP Grimlock, might I suggest the Target exclusive Age of Extinction Grimlock and Optimus Prime two pack? It's a great G1 redeco of Fall of Cybertron Grimlock.

Save up your money and try to get the Super Ginrai and Godbomber Transformers Legends giftset from Takara Tomy. It's got the best deco of all the options out there, with some premium chrome accents, and a bonus of Minerva and Cab's Headmasters too. You'll at least save money over trying to buy the Super Ginrai and Godbomber components separately.

So many reviewers have pointed out it's clunkyness, but goddamn does it look impressive and massive.
Speaking from experience with the figure, that being the combined God Ginrai form, once you get everything just so, he stands really well. Just pick a pose you like and fiddle with it until you get everything snapped in tight and balanced just so. It's a beautiful figure in hand, but it does take a LOT of work to get everything properly aligned and secured. Individually, Super Ginrai is a lot of fun in and of itself. I just wish the G1 stump legs didn't look so funky. That's the biggest boon that Hasbro's Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime has over Takara's Legends Super Ginrai: proper feet.
In the interest of making sure the topic doesn't stray away from Power of the Primes, does anyone else think that the upcoming PotP Inferno makes a great stand-in for G1 Hosehead/Cab? I'd want to swap the head out, preferably for the Titanmaster Cab mentioned above from the God Girnai giftset, but it would require some major modifications to make the Headmaster gimmick really work well in robot mode. I assume Lug/Cab can just hang out in the ladder bucket it vehicle mode.

The way I figure it:
Overbite => Recolor of Rippersnapper
Skalor => Retool of Slug or Sludge
Tentakill => Retool of Blot
Seawing => Retool of Divebomb
Nautilator => Legends Class weapon dude similar to CW Powerglide
Snaptrap => Shared engineering with Starscream/Elita One
That last part probably sounds insane, but bear in mind, I'm talking a similarity between them comparable to the similarity between Silverbolt and Hun-Gurrr. Snaptrap would look very different from his G1 toy, but I think the big forearms and boots would actually look better on him. He'd have heavily armored legs formed from the back half of his shell instead of spindly things tucked under it, and his tortoise head might fold back instead of forward. The transformation to torso mode would involve having the turtle shell pop up, spin around, and snap back into place to form Piranacon's chest the way the wings and fuselage of Starlita's jet mode do.
It also just seems really probable, because now that Hasbro has a solid combiner template worked out, it seems unlikely they'd drop it, yet we're running out of scramble-city Combiners. Hopefully, Hasbro will make up some new ones or expand outside of G1, but hopefully they'll still do Piranacon and Monstructor in the next couple of years.

Swoop's beast legs aren't right for Seawing.

ZeroWolf wrote:I completely forgot about cutthroat for a moment there. I too think the seacons are coming and monstructor for that matter. Wouldn't it be nice if they did the impossible and gave the brainmasters a bit if love...and Road Ceasar (and the multiforce)
I can imagine some really off the wall stuff. Like, PotP Inferno retooled into G1 Grapple, and released alongside four deluxes based on the RID Build Team, which could then be repainted a few years down the line as a poor man's Devastator.
It would be pretty weird, but I could also imagine Volcanicus recolored as Magmatron for a boxset like Liokaiser, or a recolor of CW Optimus Prime sold at Leader class with CW-compatible drones.

The pages feature mostly Power of the Primes products, with Optimus Primal taking most of the space, but accompanied by the likes of Hun-Grrr and the Terrorcons as Abominus, Quintus Prime in his Decoy Suit, Elita-1 and her combiner form Elita Inf1nite, and a small shot of Predaking in his grey prototype mold. Check it all out below!

Not planning on getting Primal, but if I did/do that photo wouldn't change my mind. Wouldn't see the backpack when I displayed it, and woudlnt really care when I played with it. Still like a little kid when ever I see Abominus as in the back of my head I can hear my inner child throwing "I want" fits.
Yeah pretty sure Abominus isn’t mistransformed. Takara likes to to do little homages to the original toys sometimes in their promotions. Hence why Windrazers wings aren’t folded up and the arms look like bricks and Sinner Twin is backwards. They’ve done stuff like that before with unite Warriors and why the pic of abominus next to it shows him with all his articulation.

No reason to expect them to be any different. Hasbro and Takara are sharing toy production, so everythibg should be the same, unless Takara does a special exclusive thats not part of the main toyline release (like Great Shot)
