Our very own Leokearon has brought to our attention that MetalHawk and Cloudburst Prime Masters are hitting shelves in Ireland in case anyone was unaware. They were seen and purchased at Ken Black Toys in Wexford, Ireland for €7 each. Leokearon goes on to mention that they also saw Skullgrin but did not purchase him. Transformers Power of the Primes Leader Class Optimus Prime and Rodimus were also available for for €53 at the same store. Here are some pics of the Prime Masters purchased.

That would be galvatron. Galvtronus is the cyclonus combiner. Fyi :D

That was what I was referring to, the way Nova Prime moved in on him, I've read IDW mate ;-)

As for Primal being announced for Machima already, despite being a fan of pearlman...I'd completely forgotten it, so, my bad on that one and apologies.

Though given recent developments within Machima, he might actually get more than five minutes combined screen time... (and probably be defeated by the bad guys by falling over)

Galvatron's former name was Galvatronus in the old days in the IDW comics. ;)

Also I was surprised to see the Prime Masters available given SMYTHS/Ken Black never sold the Titan Masters

I'd say "I suppose I now know how Geewunners feel when a character is recast" but frankly no reimagined Beast Wars character in Animated (Waspinator and Blackarachnia) had their original VA and both were quite good. Maybe it's because, as terrible and as much as I don't care too much about the Machinima shows, that the PotP Optimus Primal figure is functionally intended to be the 'same' character in a way. Or at least same continuity family. Much like G1 Optimus I can't imagine a different voice coming out of that character. Peter Cullen is Prime and Gary Chalk is Primal.

Maybe its just the nostalgia speaking and because I had a faint hope Chalk would get a chance to retake the role decades later much like Cullen retook his place as the voice of Optimus Prime. Especially since I highly doubt we'll ever see Optimus Primal again in any form of animated medium, given how Beast Wars has faded into the background and is clearly not part of Hasbro's intended 'brand image' for Transformers, which is clearly intent on focusing purely on a Generation 1-inspired cast.

The current design team doesn't like Beast Wars all that much which is why they completely and intentionally (admitted in interviews) ignored the Beast Wars 20th anniversary.

That was part of the previous regime as Cobo would put it. John Warden's team started with Roadbuster and Whirl from that line, and has been extremely G1-centric since. I, for one, am happy to see it, since we are getting characters in desperate need of overalls (or in need of toys in general).

So I can do without, but I understand why. For instance, I would have rather had other characters as the secondary mold uses instead of Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Mirage, and Prowl. However, in PotP, aside from Leader class, we are getting a bunch of fantastic G1 characters who needed a modern interpretation (my opinion).

Dreadwind/Blackwing
Dinobots
Beachcomber, Duocons, possibly Outback
Novastar, Moonracer, and Elita-1
Terrorcons
Predacons

The only "fails" in this line so far (for me) are:
1. Starscream's build doesn't really fit his character, and the Bot with Jet Backpack has run its course.

2. Windcharger. A great toy, but yes the face is a bit weird, and we just got a Windcharger 2 years ago.

3. While Jazz is a great figure, we already got a nearly perfect Jazz in the Generations line not too long ago. Could have been a different character.

4. Lack of Voyager weapons. The Bracers are ok, but man do I want Grimlock to have his Dual Cannon blaster and Sword.

5. Rodimus Unicronus as a repeat already, and Optimus Prime saturation in general.

I brought up my CW Stunticons to compare, and it is pretty neat to see how much more creative the engineering is on the newer vehicles. Basically, if those 5 points are really all I can complain about, this line is going to be another win for Hasbro (and loss for my wallet).

yeah i wasnt expecting em to get them either. it cost me 8.90 to import leige maximo from the states so if i can pick up the set for 7 quid a piece im all for that ! its amazing how detailed they are for such small fig- literally half the size of a legion fig- and ive really taken to them ( i was just gonna get the cons ones but seeing as bots like grimlock dont come with much by the way of weaponry im gonna load him up with them.)

:D

heres the link to the smyths site for others that want to check it out. only the deluxes and voyagers up so far but as they add as they go that doesnt mean no prime masters.

They just have to provide product for the company to sell. It doesnt have to be what we want, we are a small group anyway. John Warden said it was easiest to convince Hasbro of combiners when he showed he could make a whole line using a limited mount of tooling and they said yes. And everyone bought it. Including kids who had never heard of combiners before.

So now they let him do what he wants as long as its within budget. And he preffers G1 to Beast Wars. As long as people keep buying G1 homages, Hasbro will know that these toys sell and simply say yes to more.

Yeah, regarding the current team's lack of attention given to Beast Wars, the only updates to past things we get from the current team in the Generations line now are G1, JG1, and the odd bone thrown to Armada.

Optimus Primal's only happening because of the fan vote.

So an Evolution BW Megatron is pretty unlikely to come, I guess :-(
At least they get some love in the Masterpiece line but they don't appeal enough to me to make me pay those prices. And I prefer more realistic looking beast modes.
I'm really attracted to Prime 1 Studio's Beast Wars Megatron :x 8-} but will he really cost over 1.000 €, $, whatever currency :???: #-o :-(

Part of me hopes John Warden and co are prompted to give Beast Wars a bit more attention following Primal winning that vote, as well as all the times Beast Wars characters have been voted into the Hall of Fame. I'm not expecting a full-blown toyline or anything, I'd be more than happy with just a new Deluxe Cheetor that's better than the Universe one. Leader Evolution Megatron would be nice, though personally I'd rather have Thunderwing, because the Evolution gimmick would work really well for him.

Alright, so after having plenty of time to mess with them, here is how I rank PotP wave 1 figures, from my favorite to least favorite:

Rodimus Prime
Slash
Swoop
Jazz
Metalhawk
Skullgrin
Cloudburst
Grimlock
Beachcomber
Starscream
Dreadwind
Slug
Windcharger

This is not saying the ones towards the bottom are bad, but the ones up at the top are far more fun. The top 3 really are awesome figures, and Rodimus Prime has become my favorite PotP figure to date!

That's all on Takara's side of things, though. The current Hasbro team has little-to-no involvement in the main Masterpiece line (the Masterpiece Movie Series line, however, seems like a joint venture between the two companies).

As far as the willingness to celebrate Beast Wars's 20th anniversary is concerned, this is what we got/will be getting from all of the different companies:

TakaraTomy
Masterpiece MP-32 Convoy (Beast Wars), MP-34 Cheetus (Beast Wars), MP-38 Convoy (Beast Wars) Legendary Leader Ver., MP-41 Dinobot (Beast Wars), MP-34S Shadow Panther (Beast Wars), Legends LG-EX Rattle, LG-EX Rhinox, LG-EX Waspeeter, LG-EX Convobat, and (arguably) LG41 Leo Prime.

Fun Publications
BotCon 2016 Ram Horn, Sea Clamp, Cicadacon, Ravage, Tarantulas, Terrorsaur, Megatron, Tigatron, Airazor, Unit-3, and the Magnaboss sticker decal sheet. Plus TFSS Fractyl and Scorponok.

Hasbro Asia
Platinum Edition Year of the Monkey Optimus Primal

This is not saying the ones towards the bottom are bad, but the ones up at the top are far more fun. The top 3 really are awesome figures, and Rodimus Prime has become my favorite PotP figure to date!
Swoop over Slash? :-?
And where is Optimus? #-o

Galvatron's former name was Galvatronus in the old days in the IDW comics. ;)
And Arcee is his sister :michaelbay: :HEADHURTS:
(We definitely need a smiley/emoticon for a mind explosion)

Have to jump in here: wrong. In IDW, Galvatron was always Galvatron. He named a combiner he made Galvatronus, but he was always named Galvatron.
Too many fictions 8-} Too many timelines :HEADHURTS:
Was that the combiner Jhiaxus made for Nova Prime?

D-Maximus_Prime wrote:and Arcee was his brother before Jhiaxus.
Jhiaxus became Galvatron's brother?

Not quite, Arcee was Galvatron's brother before Jhiaxus turned Arcee into Galvatrons sister.

No, Jhiaxus changed Galvatron's brother Arcee into Galvatron's sister Arcee.

And where (which comic/issue) has that been told :???:

Their sibling relationship is in Optimus Prime #10. Jhiaxus' converting her is in her spotlight issue.

Rodimus Prime
Slash
Swoop

Metalhawk
Skullgrin
Cloudburst
Grimlock
Beachcomber
Starscream
Dreadwind
Slug
Windcharger
Why did you put Windcharger on the bottom of the list? Because he's a Legend class and he's simple compared to the others?

Considering that a Legends class made 2# on the list, I wouldn't think so.

Its maybe the aesthetic. In terms of transformations and overal toys, he is one of my personal faves from wave 1.

My top 5 so far are:

Slash
Swoop
Windcharger
Rodimus
Jazz

(not really sure if thats the right order though)

I was looking for this one lately but there's no e-version available and printed versions are too expensive including shipping.

Smyths here (ireland) have grimlock and starscream due to go on sale the end of February on their website.

Not a sighting i know but at least ya see the price €28.

And the deluxe swoop and slag are €19

Which is a lot cheaper than titan returns figs went for.

According to the Irish SMYTHS site, the deluxes are due to be released some time between the 22nd and 31st January, but no sign of them yet in the Waterford store. of course Ken Black is a spin-off of SMYTHS.

Also I was surprised to see the Prime Masters available given SMYTHS/Ken Black never sold the Titan Masters

yeah i wasnt expecting em to get them either. it cost me 8.90 to import leige maximo from the states so if i can pick up the set for 7 quid a piece im all for that ! its amazing how detailed they are for such small fig- literally half the size of a legion fig- and ive really taken to them ( i was just gonna get the cons ones but seeing as bots like grimlock dont come with much by the way of weaponry im gonna load him up with them.)

:D

heres the link to the smyths site for others that want to check it out. only the deluxes and voyagers up so far but as they add as they go that doesnt mean no prime masters.

https://www.smythstoys.com/ie/en-ie/search/?text=transformers+power+of+the+primes

Yeah, they are great. I am sort of regretting not picking up Skullgrin, but I'll probably pick him up later when hopefully they start appearing in more stores. My only problem with the Prime Masters are the actual Prime Masters, turning into a box isn't as cool as a head and they are actually based on the Pretender robots not the Primes.

Tell me about it, I still need a few from that era.

So slash is good yes? Because of all you people going on about it I'm about to cave in and order it for myself...and maybe the Prime masters...and the Dinobots...I hate you all...

I guess you hit the wrong Quote button. I didn't get her because I'm waiting for Cindersaur. If he doesn't appeal to me I'll pass this mold.
