Manterax Prime gave us word of this toy appearing on the Transformers page of a Russian version of Facebook with tulips and the Russian word for "March" boldly written in front of him. Definitely an odd way to announce a product.
Manterax Prime wrote:Courtesy of Appolo16 on TFW and the Russian social network Vkontakte, we have our first look at the supposed Walgreens Exclusive Power of the Primes Wreck-Gar.
Credit to TFW's own Nevermore for finding the original source on Vkontakte.
In the image below you can see that he uses the Combiner Wars Groove mold with a new head. This now brings the tally up to four confirmed non dinobot autobot limbs in Power of the Primes that could be given to the Elita-1 combiner.

You know what we could have gotten out of this Groove mold? TITANS RETURN SIDEWAYS!

I guess just like Groove and Groove Jr. (my CW Legends Groove), now I'll have Wreck-Gar & WGJr. though they wont even be on the same team

It's a Walgreen's exclusive. It was found in their computers months ago and it should be standard deluxe price.

Not really, TR Brainstorm didn't get an exclusive price and was also a Walgreen's exclusive. Exact same scenario here. Now Walgreen's price will vary from store to store, but that will be the same for all deluxes, not just the exclusives. Should be in the $18 to $20 range depending on the location and how much they charge for deluxes.

Munkky wrote:It doesn't look too bad, I hope it comes packed with one of the unaccounted for Prime Masters, either Prima, Nexus Prime or Amalgamous Prime. If it does I'll definitely buy one, but even if it doesn't I may still stick it on my Lynxmaster.
If it is Walgreen's, then I'm guessing it will just be a standard deluxe, same packaging and unfortunately no extras. Just like Brainstorm was.

Do what I did and throw a couple decepticon toyhax stickers over his autobot emblems and give him to Megatronia's team. The color works amazing in combined mode and completes the missing highlighter color going on with the limbs.
I call mine Jester (Joker was too Batman-ish) to go with the card theme, he's basically their toady.

Has it ever happened in the US that an exclusive was more expensive than non exclusive toys in the same line?
The only time an exclusive deluxe was more expensive was because it came with more stuff, like TR ARcee wth extra Magnus. But the hgher price is because it comes with more stuff, not because its exclusive.

Kinda, at least. As recently as last year TRU was charging $19.99 for Skullitron and flying wing Megatron despite everywhere (in my experience TRU included) going for $16ish on normal TLK deluxes. Also, it seems like a tough argument that Arcee and Grotusque don’t have a markup; sure they come with more, but one Titan Master can’t really be said to be worth the $9 difference when the Titan Master + drone sets are $5.

TRU sold all TLK deluxes for 19.99. As did all retailers at first except for Walmart.

I could be wrong, but IIRC all the May mayhem releases for CW (Quicksling, Breakneck, and Groove), were initially more expensive than standard deluxes which were $15 at the time. I know the first 2 sold out quickly so after market prices went through the roof. Groove was actually released multiple times, and at one point had a price point almost identical to retail, but still always slightly more
Additionally yeah the TRU TR Arcee and Grotusque. Most retailers had TR Deluxe around $15, even if you consider TRU prices around $18 and add the partially Die Cast TM, one wonders if its worth $6-$8 for that alone...

The May mayhem deluxe's were the same price as the regular retail figures I got all three of them for around $16 a piece.

The MSRP on all TLK Deluxes was 19.99, same with TR Deluxes.
MSRP for exclusive TLK Deluxes was also 19.99 and the msrp for exclusive TR Deluxes was 24.99 but that came with an extra head, extra card and collector packaging.
So comparing apples to apples, there seems to be 0 times the MSRP of an exclusive was more simply because it was an exclusive.

MSRP for TR Deluxes were $19.99?? I never saw anyone sell those at that price except for BBTS, which of course was a markup. I know all TLK deluxes were $19.99 because that's when prices started to increase. Its hilarious now one of my local Walmarts is clearancing them at $7 and they are selling finally. Even at that price though, I would not purchase one of those pieces of plastic molded garbage.

I thought they were, hence why I found the price for Arcee and Grotusque fair. It could be I am wrong. But in any case, coparing a standard TR deluxe to one that came with more like Arcee and Grotusque is not comparing apples to apples. The real examples we have are he RID Warriors that were TRU exclusive, the TLK deluxes that were TRU exclusive and the 3 Combiner Wars exclusive deluxes and in all those cases they were the same MSRP.

You hsve to keep in mind produxtion cosrs vs run size. The new toolimg for Arcee's face, shoulders, hood, guns, and spoiler fin was probably $5,000. Remember, that tooling is a solid hunk of metal tempered to withstand the temperature of molten plastic repeatedly and then have the pieces removed. Those tooling costs are on top of standard production costs (minus previous tooling paid for by mainline run), so you are dividing most of that 5 grand across a toy run of what, 1000 toys? Maybe two? Vs a mainline run, which is usually less complex, and a run of 10s of thousands of toys

I'd think that mold would work better for Chromia, honestly. She's pretty well established as a Cybertronian "motorcycle" at this point. I'm hard pressed to think of good Combiner Wars reuses for Greenlight and Lancer, though. I'd rather they be new molds, but the chances of us getting something like that any time soon, even through "exclusive" distribution channels, seem very unlikely.

Actually we need all those plus 3 more (1 more bot for Inferno, and 2 more cons for Starscream...)
We know repugnus is still coming...but part of me thinks ot will be a heavy retool of TR Grotosque/Twinferno to match the other Monsterbots. The of course part of me thinks it could be a Rippersnapper/Blot retool , then we'd have another deluxe Limb, but he would be split apart from the other Monsterbots... o

Repugnus
Blastoff
Counterpunch

Yeah, for sure. I didn’t intend any implication that it was bad or unfair. I own and enjoy both and didn’t feel bad about paying the somewhat higher price.

Well, I’m just stating what I personally saw at my store. Around here (central Texas) sometimes even the two nearby TRUs don’t have the same price as eachother ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm still really curious about that Counterpunch lead. The TFCC already did a "Counterpunch" only repaint for the subscription service of one of the CW car molds. Might this be the same put in a new "Punch" deco from Hasbro, only called "Counterpunch" instead for trademark reasons? Or maybe, it'll be a retool of a Titans Return car mold with two different Titan Master head options for Punch and Counterpunch? It seems like Hasbro is almost spoiling us with exclusive and special edition figures this year.
