So I was going to front page it, and Professor Smooth did it first. Thanks for sharing the cool pics.

Ahahah!! .....Orson's towing...heheh. If this guy had black body & silver arms instead of this color scheme, he'd totally be a Decepticon. Still, who to say someone here won't do a re-paint.....hmmmmm.....oh, the feet remind me of Classics Mirage. Doesn't he have those duck-like feet?

the movies version is Mike's Towing though, not orsons

The non-movie Transformers will have great potential for Botcon exclusive figures next year...

-Swindle as Shockwave
-Longarm as Hoist
-Dropkick as Trailbreaker

And so on.

Nice. Another must buy. Isnt that the truck from the movie? It looks alot like the one BB rides on in the trailer.

Very sweet figure. Maybe there's hope for the non-Movie movie toys, after all!

Love those colours, and that head design is awesome!

I feel bad for all these great non-movie designs that couldn't make it to the big screen. First Wreckage, now Longarm (or "Hoist" I believe he will be called in the videogame)...

Very cool, two thumbs up!

Regrettably, I'll pass on this one, most likely. He looks too "wide" and stalky for my tastes. I like Dropkick a LOT more.

Wow. That's gotta be one of (if not THE) best looking deluxe that I've seen in this entire line. Definately getting that one.

The white on the interiors and the crane are what I think makes it look cheap, however the alt and robot mode are still very kickin'. A definite buy from me, I'm loving this movie line -- especially the non-movie characters. His headsculpt looks great. The only thing I really don't like is the gun-arm, but I can look past it.

Looks like he's going to have a ton of robot mode articulation for those who like that sort of thing. He reminds me of classics Mirage a lot, only cooler.

Btw, the right hand is still poseable even if the gun is attached to the arm.

Also, I should receive my Dropkick test shot in about 2 weeks. That one I'm really looking forward to.

he will probably have tinted windows like blue i bet. remember that figure is a test shot. I love that it says orsons towing quite a nod to the animated movie i would say. also i love the use of the diamond plate for his chest and arms i dont think we ever saw that on a TF before, this will be a keeper for sure hope they tint out those windows though I bet they will but if not its still sweet and tight

If they took this figure and made him bigger, and made him green, he would make an awesome Alternator Hoist. You can barely see any of the plated metal pattern on Longarm in vehicle mode, as it is all in the bed of the truck, but it shows prominently when he's in robot mode. And as lame-looking as some of the movie figures have been so far, they HAVE shown some ingenuity in the different transformations. I think this is in part that they have learned how to better integrate the vehicle parts into the robot mode (mainly from the Alternators line), and if they can take some of these licensed vehicle designs and turn them into Alternators figures, I think the Alternators line will continue to be one of the best there is...and I know there are plenty of people out there who would love the Alternators line to continue.

My boss tossed me Dropkick and Payload last week. Really interesting transformations. It's nice to see movie drones that don't suck. Nice Alt and Bot modes, decent articulation and just cool all around. You'll dig Dropkick for sure.

Orson's Towing - Orson Wells - Unicron - TF: Animated Movie

Little nugget for the old-schoolers.

I actually like this one... which is weird. Reminds me a bit of the classics Bumblebee and Cliffjumper mold.

Why do some of you call hime and Dropkick "drones"? When I think of drones, I think of mindless order-takers. Yet, these two don't seem to be that way.

Is this confirmed as a homage or just a coincidence? I think it's a pretty cool tie-in, and a bit of an obscure one at that (which makes it even better)!

Why didn't they make this into Hoist? It would have totally fit and it sure would've made a somewhat lame character look cool.
Re: Transformers Movie Longarm Images and Review (171411)

Like both modes except for alt mode paint job. Begging to be repainted into hoist.

The botcon war over g1 repaints of these figures could be every bit as bloody as this year's seeker war.

Shockwave already exists in the Movieverse. He's a boss in the Transformers game. Plus he's a triple-changer. I would like more characters like Mainframe, Shockwave, and another Starscream remold named Jetfire, please Hasbro?

I really hope Hasbro turns that Shockwave into a figure! I mean, they gave us Swindle and some of the other game-only bots!

Hmm. I doubt it.

Orson was the screen name of Hasbro's Aaron Archer. He used it on TFW to answer questions from time to time. I think that's more likely what the Orson's Towing originates from, rather than Orson Welles.

I mean...wtf? Who now would give a damn, besides really, really, really hardcore fans and collectors? (and you'd have to be reeeeeally into it for that to be a salespitch.)

Can anyone else see Hasbro repainting (preferably with a retool of the head) into Kup? Or is it just me?

Has the tow truck been done as an alt mode before, or is it new in this mold?

I'm gonna pick this one up whenever it turns up. Even if they have done a tow truck as an alt mode before, it's too uncommon for this collector to pass on.

Well it depends on what you'd call Energon Landmine. If you consider him a tow truck (from Hell!), then yes. If not, then this would be considered the first tow truck molded figure.

And no, I looked at it quite a bit, I get no Kup vibe from it.

Upon Closer inspection of the Grill, I would have to say The Vehicle is a Ford. a Ford F250 I believe, He isn't that big to be a F350, and he is a little large then the F150 series. Sweet Character, I just don't like how he's a ford.

I admit it. I didn't think about Hoist. There was one for both G1 and Machine Wars.

Autobot032 wrote:Well it depends on what you'd call Energon Landmine. If you consider him a tow truck (from Hell!), then yes. If not, then this would be considered the first tow truck molded figure.

The Database lists Landmine as a crane, which I agree with. It would be along the lines of Armada Smokescreen.

Autobot032 wrote:And no, I looked at it quite a bit, I get no Kup vibe from it.

Now that I think about it, I agree with you on this one. For one thing, the vehicle mode is too current. If Kup were willing to be reformatted, I'd think he'd still take an alt mode that would (at least by human standards) be considered old. Like maybe a really old Ford pickup. For another thing, this figure's a tow truck. I was thinking before just retool the head to resemble G1 Kup, but you'd want to remove the crane piece too. It'd be better to give Kup his own mold if a new figure was to be made for him.
