This is from the pretenders story line. It looks like its based off of the Marvel conception where Springer and Carnivac became friends and Snarler resented a Decepticon working with an Autobot.
The backstory is (if I remember correctly) this. Galvatron sends Carnivac and the Mayhem crew out to work with Springer and the Wreckers with the intention of betraying the Wreckers after the job is done. Both the Mayhem and the Wreckers are abandoned by their own forces. Springer and Carnivac earn each other's respect and Springer and Carnivac try to form a new group, however Snarler hates the idea and leaves the story only to attack Carnivac down the road with a new Mayhem Squad.

Recognising a mutual threat, both Decepticon and Autobot High Command teamed the Wreckers with the Mayhem Attack Squad to tackle the other future Decepticons, Galvatron and Scourge. Carnivac's orders were to kill any Wreckers left standing but Springer saved him and he felt honour bound to ignore his orders. After the defeat of Galvatron, the remnants of the Wreckers and Mayhems felt abandoned by their superiors and teamed up. When Snarler was sent to retrieve the Mayhems, he was horrified to find Carnivac and Catilla had befriended the Wreckers and rather than killing them, had deigned to help them.
He took it upon himself to inform Decepticon High Command and volunteered to lead the new Mayhems to take thm in.
Again, sorry to nitpick but I felt i had to step in.
Nice mosaic. I can never get enough Catilla, one of my TF's from my childhood.

After Cyclonus died, his death before his creation, caused a rift in the time/space continuum, already weakened from the constant traversing of the timestream by the likes of galvatron, that threatened Cybertron and Earth in 1989 and 2009.

That is fine. Like I said in my post it was a quick synopsis based off of memory.
