I thought that too. Though, not as Burning Convoy, but as the slightly more toy-accurate deco he had in that movie, as he was viewed in that movie as a Legendary Supreme Commander.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:As for this redeco: BWII Movie!

But since the normal version is sort of like the CGI cartoon colours and the Japanese "Special Convoy" colours perhaps the black and white toy deco makes sense as an option too.
What I'd call "BlackJack" Optimus Primal personally.
It might be difficult to mould the rubbery parts in clear material if it is then the use of another solid colour would make some sense.
I like the toy but I have not bought it yet as I thought he was a bit overpriced.

Make that two! Although I desire a Masterpiece BW Megatron more than any figure right now.

If it's an entirely new figure though....

If it were, then the toy's name would be solicited as "Metals Convoy" instead of just "Convoy".PeterPrime wrote:Personally I hope for Transmetal Primal. One can always hope...

No chance its a new figure. MP-32 Convoy was just released a few months ago. you expect an entirely new mold so soon of the same guy? With Cheetor coming out also?
Maybe it will be this color scheme:
Just kidding.

All of Beast Wars Convoy's cartoon-based toys were Supreme Commanders in Japan.GuyIncognito wrote:Optimal Optimus was a Supreme Commander, right?

But this toy is specifically ranked as "Legendary Supreme Commander".

That's a good question. Up until now, unique ID numbers were given to MPs that were both mass retail releases and separate characters, even if they reused a previous mold.Seibertron wrote:Why would this get a new number instead of a sub number in the series?
If this is a same-character mold reuse, then the non-exclusive mass retail status would be my only guess for it's getting a new number, but which would then have me questioning why it wouldn't be an exclusive if it's the same character from the same mold.

The new number is odd though, unless some certain parts were to be retooled like the head.

Delta Magnus is a different character instead of being "Ultra Magnus, Delta ver." or whatever.

Mostly a redeco, but it has different face plates, plus Marissa Faireborn instead of Spike and Daniel.

They've shifted away from that habit outside of MP-10 and 11 which have a laugh-o-rama level of variations so no sense stopping now. Heck, 15-38 has all of five 'sub-numbered' toys so far?Seibertron wrote:Why would this get a new number instead of a sub number in the series?

THere's at least eight not counting MP-10 and MP-11. G2 Sideswipe and Tigertrack, Red Alert more cartoon accurate and Clampdown, Soundblaster, Silverstreak and Bluestreak, Red Boby Bumblebee and G2 Bumblebee. The last one released not a seeker was Red Alert in 2016.
This one seems like it should be MP-32S or something assuming it is the same character, but since there are no pictures it is hard to say why this gets it's own numerical entry. As we all know, though, none of it is consistent as they pick and choose what gets it's own number not necessarily based on whether it is a different character or not. MP11 ad nauseum are all different characters. Looking at it now, and including MP-10, each of them have a character that is not the base character - except Bumblebee.
I give up. (I also forgot MP-25L)

Ever since the new starting point of the line with MP-10 and MP-11, none of the mass retail MPs have been same-character mold reuses. Every figure from that point onward that received a new number has been a mass retail release and either a new mold, a different character, or both. All of the same-character mold reuses have been exclusives with lettered ID numbers (other lettered-ID-numbered MPs that were different characters have also been exclusives).ScottyP wrote:They've shifted away from that habit outside of MP-10 and 11 which have a laugh-o-rama level of variations so no sense stopping now. Ok, and how many of those new characters have been straight redecos, not counting the cassettes? I'm talking about the main line, without the sub-numbering btw.
Posted by Sabrblade on January 11th, 2017 @ 11:33pm CST
Any of their straight redecoed versions that were still the same character have been exclusives with lettered ID numbers released outside of the mass retail main line. That's why this new number is baffling if the Legendary Supreme Commander version is gonna end up being the exact same character with the exact same mold (straight redeco or retool, regardless).JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Ever since the new starting point of the line with MP-10 and MP-11, none of the mass retail MPs have been same-character mold reuses. Plus a brand new skull flail (DIFFERENT from the die-cast one), a Double Blade, a weapon rack for attaching the Double Blade to the figure in either mode, and a Beast Mask based on the original toy's Mutant Head.

MP-38 Convoy (Beast Wars) Densetsu no Sōshireikan Ver. (or Legendary Supreme Commander Ver.)

The figure's MSRP is 12960 Yen ($113,64) but it can currently be preordered for lower than that from Japanese retailers for the likes of $90 USD.

This helps make the MP toy's name make a whole lot more sense since it was in that movie that he was referred to as a Legendary Supreme Commander.

I like it! Still would have loved some sculpted fur texture, but he may have to be mine.
This is exactly why I decided to wait on the new Megatron. fingers crossed

MP-12 Lambor & MP-14 Alert
MP-17 Prowl, MP-18 Streak & MP-19 Smokescreen
MP-20 Wheeljack & MP-23 Exhaust
MP-22 Ultra Magnus & MP-31 Delta Magnus (new face plates and figurine)
And Starscream got two releases based on the same basic mold, yet got two numbers: MP-03 and MP-11.
The sub-numbering is a bit more random and probably impossible to figure out, but they have being more limited runs in common.
That said, can I say I called this one?

The numbering logic restarted with MP-10. Remember the same mold was used for the same character with MP-1 and MP-4 as well. But since the MP-10 refresh, every new number has been a mass retail figure of either a new character, a new mold, or both; but never the same character with the same mold up until now.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:And Starscream got two releases based on the same basic mold, yet got two numbers: MP-03 and MP-11.
