The original Road Rage figure and character were created in 2002 as the first addition to G1 characters since the original series ended in the early 90s. She was a red redeco of the Tracks figure, and released in a two-pack with Crosscut, a redeco of G1 Skids.
It's rumored that she's going to be an addition to the Kingdom line, though in what capacity and released through what channel is still to be determined, should this seemingly credible rumor be officially confirmed. Though, with Leader Class T-Wrecks being released at Australian retail, despite no announcement from Hasbro, don't be surprised if Road Rage shows up somewhere out of the blue with no official announcement.
What do you think, Seibertronians? Are you excited for a potential new Road Rage figure? How does she compare to Tracks for you? Let us know in the comments below!

Also, we got a review of the titan class ark out of nowhere. It was posted by Geek Culture.
Enjoy!

Nor did I ever see it listed as available on Pulse. It was only ever 'not in stock yet' for the longest time. Then it instantly jumped to 'sold out' and has been that way for months. Same with Trailbreaker and Runamuk - that whole wave seems to have been a ghost wave that was promised, but never delivered.
Availability has been patchy and unpredictable for a LOT of their stuff lately. They make way too many of some figures, and almost NONE of others. Pulse has proven to be equally unreliable. They're supposed to be the place for members to be able to get the figures that are hard to find in stores, but Pulse is always 'sold out' on everything too. What's the point of an exclusive selling platform that never has enough product to meet demand?
It may be great arrangement for the scalpers, but it's terrible for everybody else.
I bought that entire wave in the store, except Sunstreaker, who I had to pay a couple of bucks extra from BBTS.

There's only been 4 releases of him so far (Seige, G2, Netflix and Kingdom). For me, and the others weren't relevant, due to the cr@pple-damage paint, so I'm really glad this new version came out.
Also, prior to Siege, you had to go all the way back to Fall of Cybertron for a Sideswipe figure. He was long overdue, and Hasbro is giving him the premium treatment for it now.
Wowsers, it's been that long?
Also, Road Rage looks good, so I'll probably order it.

The face is purely a homage to the Last Autobot in the original Marvel Comics run.

The face is based on The Last Autobot. Not saying it's good or bad, just restating what's already been stated in case anyone didn't know.

What about the inevitable upgrade kit that'll turn the Ark into Animated Omega and give him a different head? Let me have hope

Well DNA design now has 3 kits that replaces/upgrades probably at least 1/3 of Hasbro's existing ER Scorponok, so anything is possible. It would be quite expensive in the end, but I guess we'll see.

Since the first "turnaround" video of its robot mode, I notices the two big gray panels on the back of the lower legs.
They looks like they're hinged at the lower end (the one near its feet)
I wonder if they're supposed to be "turned inside out" in the ark mode to cover the hollows in the rear side of the ship.

I'm curious as to why you think that. Not really sure what else we would have gotten out of a Road Rage aside from maybe a new gun and some new, slimmer thighs.william-james88 wrote:Currently working on a story about the Ark but came here to say first that this Road Rage is lame AF. I had no idea that the MP figure had that much retooling. I'm perfectly satisfied with just a new head for a Generations figure. I'm still a little grumpy that getting a modern Generations Slipstream requires making a custom when we've already gotten almost a dozen versions of the Siege mold.
(Edited to clarify the point about Generations Slipstream, I have the spindly figure based on T30 Windblade, but I want something bulkier like the Cyberverse design.)

Fortress Maximus and Scorponok (and by extension their respective retools) are the only two I know of where it's required, and that was quite purposefully done because they are Headmasters, that's kind of their thing... . Full Tilt is not required to complete Trypticon, and Scamper is not required to complete Metroplex. Omega Supreme is made of 3 main components, that is far better than the many parts the original Mecha-Bot 1 based toy was made from.

AHA! I know you had told me that those vents were on an earth lambo but for some reason the way Hasbro had made them on Sideswipe they seemed overly big to the point where I thought that's what made it "cybertronian". I guess Hasbro thought the same.

I think we need a better picture of the head sculpt before making a judgement. I too think it looks really close to the MP but also something is off like maybe it is too wide of a face.

Polyoxymethylene (POM) is the main plastic used for structurally important pieces because of its strength, resilience and slipperiness (read: lack of resistance) and can't be painted with the stuff Hasbro uses. Had that off-colored piece on Sideswipe been made of regular ABS like the rest of the figure (read: moved to a different sprue), chances are we'd have seen reports of breakage before long. That plastic is restricted to one mold/color per tooling.

Some people just don't believe in "necessary evils" It's not that whatever happened Hasbro actually wanted, but it was either that or waste time redesigning some aspects of the figure. We've seen what happened with PotP Jazz with its clear MABS car shell, so...

Yeah. I get where people come from, though, because there's Siege Sideswipe here, but then you get the case you mention, or Studio Series Jazz, or the Earthrise Datsun mold.
But sometimes there's so much things to balance that you are forced to make a choice that may end up being a bad one in the long run. Like having to give the car mode clear plastic windows, but not having enough of a budget to make them a separate piece, so because of the transformation scheme you're forced to have clear plastic on knees or transformation hinges.
I don't own any version of Sideswipe, but another possible explanation (assuming they are actually paintable plastic) could be that moving those pieces just isn't on the budget, or maybe it would force them to also modify a paint mask. Who knows. His ankle joints are also black, so are his fists and his "spine and shoulderblades", so it's possible you're correct.
Edit: After comparing both Siege and Kingdom Sideswipe pictures, it seems like the remold only affects the red parts of the toy. So it is very very likely that they said "Okay, this toy gets ONE new die". So the mold they changed was obviously the red one, because that's the one that holds most of the parts that are relevant to the look of the car mode. Thus leaving that tiny black part out.

Let's wait to judge the figure until there's more pictures? I have a feeling the lighting, angle, and even the pose could be a bit misleading at this point, since we're only have one photo to go off of for now.
We BW fans will never forget what happened with Kingdom Grimlock...a really great image of "Kingdom Grimlock" was "leaked" and then it turned out, that wasn't an image of the figure at all, and Hasbro had flipped the script on us big time...so...give it some time, because chances are this photo of Road Rage is a total fake, too.

I think you are right on. Selects Deep cover is where things stand out the best because I think there are actually 2 sets of black molds for Sideswipe/Red Alert/Tigertrack/Netflix Deep Cover, one POM and one ABS. On Selects Deep Cover, the black ABS stays black like all the other uses of the mold and the POM switches to blue. This would also explain why something like the gun or launcher can be completely painted, or the rims being painted, those are black ABS.
It looks like the same POM plastic is used for the ankles, shins, crotch, abs and head along with the fists and shoulders. The plastic can be painted, but it looks like they can only do details/battle damage and not coat the entire piece. Of the parts that are painted, most of the paint is on area that wouldn't typically be handled much if at all.

My #1 favorite thing about G1 'bots was their tendency towards overdramatic shoulder-mounted rockets and guns, yet the WFC toyline has leaned heavily towards tiny guns (Datsun bros, Primal) with sort of goofy placement (Tracks...too high up) or no placement at all (Kingdom Mirage...sigh).
I may just have to wait til a future toyline to get my toys with big ol' shoulder guns.
Edit: Just took a look at some of the in-hand Tracks pix and I might be wrong...the guns up top do look pretty good.

That doesnt explain why they didnt pick the right colour for that unpaintable plastic. Clearly, we see that Hasbro could mold that piece in blue or black and yet they did not.
Someone messed up somewhere in the planning phase for plastic distribution/alocation.
At least, since they were releasing 2 deep covers the same year in the same assembly line, they could have uses the black part to go with the black car and the blue part to go with the blue car.
Regardless of any reason put forward, the end result looks dumb all around.

Thank you for saying what I was thinking! I love those vents, they're the only part of the new figure that is a downgrade. They're so iconic! I assume it's licensing/legal-driven rather than an aesthetic choice, and it's not a deal breaker, but it is disappointing.
The reason this Sideswipe and ER Sunstreaker have vents like that is because they aren't based on the production Countach, but rather a prototype Countach (from '71 I believe), almost certainly for legal reasons. More differences can be seen on the door windows, hood, the shape of the fenders, and the spoiler (or lack thereof). Sunstreaker does have production Countach wheels and both toys have the Countach's side intakes, though, so they are a bit of an amalgamation of the two, but the basis is definitely the prototype.

Same here. Weird accents are more acceptable to me than a bad mis-match on a paint job.
