I would need to see better images, preferably in-hand, of the Samurai trio, but it looks like Takara has taken some cues from Genesis of Aquarion. Here's a little look:

DX Sousei Gattai Aquarion review (Japanese) from Ooebi's Hobby Factory.

The Samurai looks a lot more messy though.

I can see Hasbro doing a Prowl, Inferno, and (Treadbolt?) out of those, if they choose to release them in their respective decos. But either they have to lay off the samurai influence so we don't end up with a Megazord knock off or ditch the combining gimmick entirely. Just my two cents.

Much better.

I think Jimbo (dont judge me, I'm giving them nicknames because I'll forget their names in the next two minutes) is my favorite out of the three, followed by Officer Barbrady and Hot Spice.

That head is too badass for Laserback. Please use a better mold, Takara. >:oP

Those guys are definitely pretty interesting. I don't think I'll import them, but if they come over here I might be interested in giving them a go. Lazerback repaint looks quite nice too.

I like them. I'll keep my preorders and keep an eye open for proper reviews.

Makes me happy to get more predacons. They are clones of one another after all so repaints actually make sense here.

Gaidora looks awesome! Such a keeper.

Not sure what to make of the samurai team just yet. They look good (very good in the case of 02 and 03), but it seems obvious they were designed separately from the majority of the GO! figures. Typically Japanese in aesthetics. I'm keeping my pre-orders, but would very much like to see more. Combined modes look a little Energon-like i.e. naff.

So happy we're finally getting to see what these things are meant to be. Cheers Takara.

I guess I'm not too bothered by these being Japan-exclusive. I like the individual bots but the combined modes are a little too Brave/MMPR-ish for my taste.

I like how the fire truck looks a lot like Autoroller. Nothing too special about the jet. And thankfully a car who's chest isn't formed by the entire front of the vehicle or the roof. Oh, and the Power Ranger look stinks. :lol:

Officer BarBrady has quite the backpack.
I don't know why you guys are turned off by this... well, okay, the power rangers look isn't really for me, but at the same time, a Hasbro combiner with what looks to be self contained hands/everything else, and poseability to boot. I'm cautiously optimistic, but way more interested in the teased

combiner version of this. The vehicle modes don't look comprimised either, but just a buncha sweet chunky cybertronian tech.

Fav configuration so far is Hot Spice on top. I like the idea a lot too, as it reminds me of some old anime with the 3 jets, red,blue and yellow I think, changing up the configuration for different needs (one of them had wheels on his feet for rollerskating haha).

This series is more of a nod to the Yuusha series after Transformers finally died out in the late 80's. In fact the Jet, Police car, and fire truck are very reminiscent of that. There were some wacky combinations in the Yuusha line before they got to GaoGaiGar. This looks a lot better than energon/Superlink if you ask me.

Light and sound gimmicks can easily ruin a toy, hope they got it right for this guy if that's the reason for the higher price tag.

Larger than Deluxe, smaller than Voyager. Takara's more flexible in their toy sizes than Hasbro, so these don;t fit into Hasbro's size class system.

How very... Japanese. Or samurai-esque, I think, is more accurate. Not my cup of tea, but nice to see designs not derived from either G1 or Movieverse (Prime's kinda sorta Movie-esque) for a change. Granted it's kinda generic Japanese robots... but I'm sure they're saying the same about ours.

I wonder how free-form the combination is. Does the order matter? Can you just combine two? Can you get multiples of one bot and combine them? Multiple sets of all three and infinitely chain them? Make a complete circle?

If the additional cost is for electronics then I'm okay with that. Main issue I might have is how it affects the modes and transformation. Sometimes they make it work, others times...
