Could this rerelease be testing the waters for him finally getting a toy?
Or just some backstock being freed up for some reason? IDK how well this set sold the first time around. Maybe it underperformed with fans who'd just bought the G1 Selects Seacons?

I'dove it if they happened to find a shipping container with a few dozen Super Megatron's so I can get him for a decent price.

It's not just for Transformers. I collect Pullip dolls and many that were thought to be discontinued for years and were sold for a fortune on eBay suddenly got restocked in many stores at normal retail or even on sale!

The quality of these Hasbro & Takara products are no better than the cheap crap you find in Ollie's or a dollar store.
Thank God I was finally able to break my addiction to this junk. I originally wanted this thing the 1st time around but stopped myself because of the stupid insane price. I have Piranacon & the quality is definitely not worth the insane rip-off prices these psychos are charging.

Which color scheme, though, is the question. There have been multiple releases using the toy deco that was an inversion of the cartoon "Copy Convoy" deco, but said cartoon deco has never seen any release in toy form.chuckdawg1999 wrote:o.supreme wrote:I was worried as well, but the recent interview on Toys R Russ YouTube channel gives me some hope. We are getting a black Leo Prime in the main line.

In fact, out of curiosity, I threw together the math to see how consistent the numbers are, since I imagine Hasbro as a business may be looking at it similarly: If we assume the 2 Selects we have leaked for this year thus far aren't necessarily the only Selects for the year (which is still very likely considering the number of other exclusives that are still mysteries), then the only comparatively light/"bad" year for Selects so far was 2021 (the one that would have potentially/presumably been most impacted by the pandemic), and if those two are actually all there is for this year, then it makes 2021 less of an outlier.
Also, for comparison's sake and to preemptively counter the argument of "but the price increases skewed those numbers", if we adjust 2021-now back down to 2019/pre-price-increase prices, it comes out to be 2021 at $204, 2022 at $274, and 2023 so far at $180. That puts last year's Selects straight in the middle of 2019 and 2020, which debunks the potential thought that the price increases were the reason Legacy's Selects offerings were on par with Earthrise and Siege+PotP.
TL;DR (or if you just don't like math I guess): Selects is doing just fine, the fact that quantity is being traded for bigger-ticket offerings is skewing people's perceptions.
....all that aside, I wonder if we're gonna see Antagony and Packrat turn up in Selects sometime this year, since they were rumored last year at the same time as the Omega Sentinel that we all-but-know is now in this line (unless my theory of the next Walmart subline being beast-themed comes to pass, in which case I would predict Antagony to actually pop up there).

And Cryotek
And Armada Thundercracker/super starscream or whatever it's called
Can't think of anyone else. I wouldn't get antagony, Inferno is enough for me but I hope they make it for those that have been asking. It'd be a shame if they didn't

That would be a nice set, especially since for some reason Takara has not done a Flash Lio with the Mp mold yet despite having Buring Convoy already.
I am hoping for more of the old Botcon beast repaints, from the 3H years. Antagony, Shockaract (when we get Rampage), Cataclysm, maybe more of the Covenant...

It still baffles me that Takara has never even released a toy version of Lio Convoy's green form from any Lio Convoy mold, since that was his final powered-up form in both BWII and Neo.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:o.supreme wrote:I was worried as well, but the recent interview on Toys R Russ YouTube channel gives me some hope. Glyph and Tap-Out too. They'd be easy reuses of the Bumblebee and Cliffjumper molds.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I am hoping for more of the old Botcon beast repaints, from the 3H years. Antagony, Shockaract (when we get Rampage), Cataclysm, maybe more of the Covenant...

Wouldn't a green lion be ugly as hell though?
Still, if it was his ultimate form, it would make sense to have him as a 2 pack with Burning Convoy.
There's high chances that such a 2 pack would be a Takara Tomy Mail exclusive.

Green lion is cool.
No, that 2-pack would not make sense. Burning Convoy was formed with Flash Lio Convoy. Primal was long gone back to his normal time by the time Lio Convoy Green was first formed, which is the fusion of Lio Convoy and Lio Jr in their final battle form. Green Lio should be an individual release.

I understand I am partial, but I would give BWII my highest recommendation. It is such a fun series, and fills in so many characters not able to be represented in the Mainframe show. It is easily accessible on Youtube, fully subbed. I'd absolutely support a physical media release if we ever got one. Honestly, I enjoy BWII more than any English language produced series from the past decade.
BW Neo is a little harder to enjoy from the beginning, but the latter episodes with the Blendtrons/Unicron are pretty good.

o.supreme wrote:Core Dinoking is pretty much a certainty, but how it will be released is anybody's guess. I would think that they would do well at retail (evil Dinosaur Transformers to counter the heroic Dinobots). Also, usually Hasbro Selects are straight repaints, or have minimum retooling. I'd say core Dinoking would be a likely candidate for TT Selects if that was still a thing, but it hasn't been for a while. Still nothing is out of the realm of possibility. It could very well be one of the Hasbro Select's releases later this year.
When I describe it as a repaint/retool, I'm pretty much only meaning the heads get changed cause they do that for some Selects. If it's not Selects, then we might get more retooling like Alpha Trion and Orion Pax. However, I do think Selects is most likely because they can do a box set of the 6 molds to go with Deathsaurus like they did with Galvatron and his expansion for Unicron. Plus, the advantage to Selects over mainline is that they wouldn't be using the same molds, different colors for two years in a row and would allow them to either make a new core combiner, or just release more variety

Only reason I'm suggesting them is because they technically weren't a tier, moreso a "Thank you". If they were explicitly stated to be a tier, I wouldn't say anything, but as is, it would make sense to give them an online release, especially to finish the American colors. I don't really care one way or the other cause I ordered Deathsaurus, I just think it'd be neat/nice if there was a way for people who didn't to finish their Rescue Patrol sets

That's certainly the belief that I keep hearing on the Twincast Podcast and it does make sense. It wasn't a goal that people were trying to reach as part of the crowdfund so there's really nothing stopping them from doing whatever they want with it.

The hasbro selects are purely repaints with maybe new heads, but that is it.
Takara selects did more inventive retools, but they haven't done an exclusive project in a while.
I think you are more likely to see brand new mainline molds for a Defensor than retools.

The Hasbro side is all redecos and minor retools, while the TakaraTomy side has also included major retools like Star Convoy, Super Megatron and the Seacons. No fully original molds.
And Protectobots for the win!

Yes, if you ignore HasLab Unicron (the dev team says he's a Selects release hence the brown box treatment) and Black Zarak who had a lot of new head parts and the spear. At best we get an alternate head that's already included in the mold, the line doesn't create new parts typically.

And that's perfectly fine.
I'm very glad that the ultra rare, ultra exclusive Botcon and Collector Club repaints have been replaced by Select and Buzzworthy. This make everything at the (mostly) normal price and (usually) easily accessible.
Still, the Select line is very quiet recently.

Nemesis Primal made a valid point about how instead of getting a bunch of figures they seem to be putting the budget into doing Titans and fewer smaller figures. Here's the chart he posted:
Something he didn't take into account was that the three Walmart Legacy beasts were also supposed to be part of Selects so that's nearly another $75 that didn't get used for Selects in 2022 for what was already their biggest year. Wouldn't surprise me if other 2023 Selects figures were removed to be exclusives elsewhere. I'm sure they'll holding off on announcing the two we know are coming (Omega Sentinel/Guardian and a Deluxe) to spread them out, but we'll probably be seeing the Titan soon since they need to put some distance between it and the main line Titan. If anything I think we should be seeing more Selects this year since they don't have Shattered Glass as a line this year (as far as we know).

Yeah.... it was all fun and games until I found THIS:
“Titanic” is swimming back into theaters next year, almost three decades after its original premiere. The 1997 romance drama is back on the silver screen in honor of its 25th anniversary on February 10, 2023, according to Deadline. A remastered version of the James Cameron flick will hit cinemas in 3D 4K HDR and high-frame-rate.
The reveal is on Feb 28th, just 2 weeks after the theatrical re-release...I think ya'll might have willed something awful into existence.

To be fair, I debated for a good bit whether or not to include that, and ultimately left that part out since we have no official confirmation that any Selects got shuffled/repurposed for certain, just word-of-mouth from leakers about those Beasts and the fact that 2 Clampdown listings existed at one point before the Selects Clampdown seemingly got axed. That second part could be proof that Clampdown got shuffled around, but the year prior we got Deep Cover twice through the exact same release methods, so they may have been planning to do that again and we ultimately just don't know.Emerje wrote:Something he didn't take into account was that the three Walmart Legacy beasts were also supposed to be part of Selects so that's nearly another $75 that didn't get used for Selects in 2022 for what was already their biggest year. I'm weighing the odds of a Doubleclouder from Earthrise Doubledealer. On the one hand, Mark Maher is on a Masterforce kick. On the other hand, the Masterforce anime goofed and used Doubledealer's color scheme.
Also wondering if that kick will lead to a Grand Max restock. Probably not. Also not likely we'll get a retool of Skullgrin to remove the shell-derived details to
Anyway, may as well crosspost these Black Zarak photos (most of which are comparisons with Scorponok) here:
Beast Mode
City mode. The connected shots were a major nuisance focus-wise. I'm going to have to set up some sort of central prop next time, to help the camera focus.
Robot mode.
Together with Cybertron Galvatron & Megatron, because there's a similar contrast with the decoes.
Standing alongside Trypticon. This one focused much better because there was something in the middle.
And riding Trypticon.
