It'd be awesome if the Combaticons were indeed their normal colors.

Makes perfect sense, Hasbro.

Also, am I right in my recall that the SDCC version and Amazon version will both be box sets? Do we have a release date for the Amazon set?

Yeah, it's a shared SDCC/Amazon.co.uk exclusive, from what I understand.

Nope, Amazon has the regular retail colors, SDCC is the more game-accurate repaint. Both are box sets however.

Because in reality, Optimus is more popular than Shockwave.

How many kids would want that craptastic thing over a TFP Optimus?

You must shift your thinking. You should be asking "Which toy's name would parents recognize easier?" There is a right answer to this query and here's a hint: It's not Shockwave.

They already made a Bumblebee for this line. They didn't make another one for Universe in 2008 when they had already made Classics Bumblebee in 2006.TraitorJ wrote:Two Optimus' in wave one? they did remake Optimus though and isn't the new one horrible? Ah well, at least it gives us an AWESOME repaint in Ultra "take my money now" Magnus.
Not sure they'd bother to remake BB since the new game model seems identical to the old one, but it hasn't stopped them with Soundwave, and honestly, I wouldn't complain at a re-release of the first WFC Bumblebee. It looks like a nice toy, I don't have it, and it's the same design as the current IDW comics.

He has a new body. BB still has his WFC body.craggy wrote:they did remake Optimus though
They did that to integrate his Minicon/Deployer gimmick, which his Deluxe toy was lacking.craggy wrote:Not sure they'd bother to remake BB since the new game model seems identical to the old one, but it hasn't stopped them with Soundwave,
Though, I could see them making a new BB if it were a different size class.
I could see that happening too.craggy wrote:and honestly, I wouldn't complain at a re-release of the first WFC Bumblebee.
He's tricky to transform and very fat in the hindquarters. But still kinda fun.craggy wrote:It looks like a nice toy, I don't have it, and it's the same design as the current IDW comics.

Are the combiners shown in this thread the retail version or the SDCC?
Thanks in advance!

Those are the SDCC exclusive colors. Someone messed up when pulling out their stock photos.

And though I'm also not a geewunner by any stretch of the imagination, I do think they could have hewed a little closer to their original color schemes. Only Swindle and Brawl are recognizable as themselves. The rest look like generic bots, to me, anyway. Normally, this wouldn't bother me (I loved all the live-action movie characters and designs), but since it's supposed to be set on Cybertron before G1, it would seem to me that making the WFC characters look at least vaguely recognizable like their G1 counterparts would make sense. I don't think there's been a WFC or Generations character that's been released yet that isn't easily identifiable as an updated version of a classic character.

If I get to pre-order from a domestic site like BBTS, or TFSource, then I am getting them that way. Then I can just hunt for Shockwave at retail, and repaint my extra Optimus into an Ultra Magnus...these FOCO figures are looking so damn good.

Most of their Cybertronian modes don't interest me, and what the HELL is Brawl supposed to turn into?? It looks like he just folds up into a hunk of plastic with treads on the sides(!?) and a cannon on top. At least the others transform into passable vehicles, with wheels. He doesn't look like anything other than a big block with a gun on top.

Well, I'd normally agree about making them look like there G-1 counterparts but this is a whole different mix/mess (as I understand?). As I recall didn't Starscream create the combaticons in G-1?....so..... this I'm taking it as it has very little to do with/ nothing to do with G1?
I agree with you about Brawl looking a little cheaply done though. All 5 of these look a little rushed and like they could have been much more. After movieverse Devastator I'm actually impressed that all 5 transform into robots and not just vehicles that turn into Bruticus.

It's meant to appeal to old G1 fans, but it's set in the same universe as Prime, 70 million years ago.

So, who do we think is going to be the hardest to find in this assortment? One of the Combaticons, natch, but which? My money is on Swindle or Brawl, because I think they look the best on their own.

First of all, "multiverse" is, by definition, a set of universes. It could mean every universe in one continuity stream, or it could mean every universe in every known continuity stream. Every universe together is called the "omniverse". Second, it hasn't been conclusively proven that Aligned is of only one universe. Your post presupposes that Aligned is only one universe. My fix of your post eliminates that presupposition so it won't be proven to be wrong later on, if Hasbro decides that Aligned is in fact a continuity stream-sized multiverse. I didn't assert anything that you yourself did not. That Bot wrote:Transformers is a multiverse. Aligned is a universe in that multiverse. An argument could be made for different streams, but they are the same universe. Please stop nitpicking every time somebody says something about WFC/FOC being in the same universe as Prime, especially when the creators of both are clearly trying to draw parallels between their respective works.

Sounds right to me. Nothing wrong with a little clarification. That Bot and Orangitis, you both know what you're saying, but someone who isn't as familiar with the "Aligned" continuity might not understand that it is not portrayed as a straight continuity, but one in which separate time streams exist.
As for which will be most difficult to find individually, my money (hah) is on Swindle, with Onslaught coming in a close second, since he's the torso.

I think its a DC Comics reference. The Flash could vibrate his body at such speeds that he could shift between universes. He did so early in his career to meet the original Golden Age Flash before DC decided to merge all of their universes into a single one in the early 80s.
