Seibertronian from Canada Jones has finally spotted a wild leader class Generations Combiner Wars Megatron in the other, colder side of the North American continent - specifically Toys R Us in Barrie, ON. They report that a single Armada Megatron was on the shelf, too, and that this specific toy has now found a new home at the price of $59.99 CDN. Are you still looking for a big bad Decepticon leader yourself? Why not head to the Sightings section and forums to help in your hunting, and remind yourself why you really want this toy by looking at our galleries here.

My phone was dead so I didn't get a picture but I know for a fact that Camp Hill in PA had two of the Armada Megatrons and two of the Lost Light Megatrons at the Toys R Us yesterday. They also had the entire first wave of Combiner War deluxes.

Next time I will have my phone charged, sorry!

Combiner Wars has been a rather sizable success for both Hasbro and fans and one of the most coveted figures of the line is the Leader Class Megatron mold, especially the G1 version, he's also the most difficult to find. Hasbro Toy Shop sells out regularly, BBTS is sold out, eBay's too expensive, so what's a fan/collector to do?

Take a trip to Amazon!

Thanks to fellow fan and collector, BeatsBySoundwave, we now have the direct link to G1 Megatron who is currently priced at $46.99 and ships for free with Super Saver Shipping!

Click on the image below to order him before they sell out, and click here to buy the Armada version of the mold as well. After you're done with that, come on back and check out our galleries of these awesome Leader Class figures and share your thoughts with us here on the forums!

Snagged one! Thanks, now I don't have to hunt him down! While I think I honestly prefer the Armada version, this one is also incredibly cool.

Haven't seen a comparison with Classics Prime yet, which was what I was most interested to see.
Megs towers over him, but I like it. Just makes him so imposing. A force to be reckoned with.
Hope Prime can rise to the occasion.

Give Wheelie's slingshot to Prime. Might be the only chance he has. ;)

I received my Megatron today. Man is he huge! I don't know why I thought He might be short. I put My original Classics Optimus next to him and Prime just looks tiny. I have no desire to get CW Prime, but this size matchup looks pretty bad.

I really like that Megatron's transformation is simple, yet involved. Love the treads. One thing I do wish he had was a barrel rising over the right shoulder like most fiction depicts him as having. Hopefully a third party will get on that. The combining weapon in forgettable, I would rather he had the silver barrel. Otherwise, this Megatron does look close enough to IDW Megatron for me. I still think I am going to rig something up with magnets to allow me to put an Autobot insignia on him at times.

Now give us a Galvatron that isn't an embarrassment to the name!

I ordered a G1 Megatron this morning (Armada was strangely unavailable) and there was a thing in the breakdown saying QUEBEC TAXES. So I'm pretty sure they'll ship to you.

I've been watching TRU.ca for a while now and the Wave 1 CW figures go in and out of stock all the time. So take a deep breath, be patient, and keep an eye on the site. They even have an option to email you once they're available.

Incidentally, they also take Paypal now too! That's news to me anyways.

There is a core robot, his name is Minimus Ambus.

If you want a white Prime, get Classics Magnus. If you want a white Prime with armor, get City Commander. If you want a truck and trailer that transforms into a giant red, white, and blue robot, get this thing or the Masterpiece.

Core robot G1 style 1985 release of the Diaclone Powered Convoy that eventually became the G1 UM we all come to love.

chuck must be waxing nostalgic for an updated power armor type UM.

I Would of liked the truck cab to be more boxy like the 1986 toy.

Maybe in a couple of years once the MP hype has died down we could get a G1 style Leader Magnus

How is this not G1 ? It transforms just like the G1 cartoon ? The only thing about it thats not G1 is the design of the shoulder missiles which appear to be ripped off from city commander.

As in G1 with a core robot.

:BANG_HEAD:

In other words he means "vintage toy accurate". People need to stop using the term "G1" so loosely. By American standards, G1 simply means anything transformers related between 1984-1988. There are even G1 pajamas.

Image
#JustBeingOutspoken #KeepingItReal

Just to add some stuff that doesn't fit your definition of G1, the Japan version of G1 extended all the way to 1992 via Operation Combination. Even by "American standards", the Micromasters like Countdown was released around 1991. Does that not fit into your own definition of G1? Some people TOO should stop shooting from the hip in declaring when and how G1 began and ended. Maybe for those living in their own microcosm that is...........

And Burn, nice meme image. Most appropriate indeed.

How many times has White Optimus Prime with Armor as Magnus appeared in any G1 fiction? The only instance I know of is briefly in Dreamwave. Apparently in the Classics comics he's a white Prime with no armor, but that's a different issue altogether.

Also I have to add that looking at these particular pics makes me believe the MP line did nothing to improve the scale debates argued about the classics line. Its just another mismatched hybrid between cartoon and vintage toy scale combined with real world alt mode scale that doesnt look so good side by side. The only difference is now the mismatched scales take up more space on your shelf.

Transformers will always be out of scale g1 ultra Magnus side by side comaprison next to metroplex and bruticus, my Theroy on mp figures there not made to be in scale with transformers series maybe in scale with other mp figures but mp figures are more to adult oriented with higher price rage higher complex transformation more detail, while everything leader class and below is aimed at kids oriented which scale does not matter to kids transformers will never be in scale if that where true they cost more to make buy for fans Tamara gave fans mp series high in detail, price, transformation, but for average collector who plays don't care about scale that is what non mp series is for kids

Right. Because MP Starscream being a few heads taller than MP Prowl or MP Sideswipe is totally not an improvement over Classics Starscream being a couple heads shorter than Universe Prowl or Universe Sideswipe. =;

I understand wanting to emulate what the old toy did, and I think it would have been cool if the Masterpiece did this, but at the same time, they're going mostly off the cartoon, where Magnus transformed directly from truck to patriotic robot and there was never any indication of a smaller robot in armor. Most fiction has adopted this view, including the IDW comics which Leader Magnus is most heavily based on. Also, I think from an engineering standpoint, it's easier to design something that transforms fluidly from one mode to another without having to worry about separating and combining into armor and stuff, which is important for selling to kids.

You're also factoring in the cost of a $20k vs a $250k car...if someone was offering you one for free or the same price, you'd take the overpriced Euro car any day. In the case of these, the price difference isn't all that great. These leader figs are running like $50 now. MPs can be bought from $45 - $120 these days.

Also I paid $3k for my car. And yeah, MPs are ridiculous. I got the first MP 01 for $70 and I thought that was high back then. $180? No thanks. It's just not worth it to some of us. To those that it is worth it, that's fine. But some of us are after the toys. Not the expensive collectables.
