Seemed to be the theme for this guy's news, so I figured I'd run with it

The tagline for the G2 comics was "These aren't your daddies Autobots!" or something along those lines. And it is funny to say nonetheless

If I'd had more money I would have gone for the 2 pack with Scattershot. I don't mind his design, and if I really didn't want him I could sell him.

I went for the two-pack of Onslaught and Scattorshot, which I wouldn'tve done if it weren't for the point system used by The Chosen Prime. I'm basically getting Scattorshot for free, and once they get here, Ill probably turn around and sell him to my local comic shop, and use the proceeds to get myself a set of those PE hand/feet sets. Cash back!

If it was, Slingshot Quickslinger would have disintegrated from Gold Plastic Syndrome by now.
megatronus wrote:So Japan gets the G1 box sets, and the Americas get garish G2. Fitting, I guess.
Hasbro released the G1 versions as singles and Takara didn't, though, so it makes sense to me that they'd think a box set of G1 versions might be a bit superfluous compared to something that's at least had a color change. They probably figured G2 was the closest they could get to a "classic" alternate color scheme.

That, and they probably figured the same figures probably wouldn't sell all over again - especially in those colors

Ah, good ole GPS. Good thing the newer plastics are immune. We would need a G2 Alpha Bravo to take G2 Quickslinger's spot after his GPS death otherwise

There is enough tension to hold it. It's not perfect, but it's not a deal breaker.
Edit: OH! I almost forgot. Swindle is all WIN!

I love the gun mode, it's so compact and efficient, far superior to the powerglide mold, simply due to not being hampered by excess junk for his other modes

Well, yeah, most people don't buy two identical figures unless it's a troop builder. And we all know how the fans react when Hasbro tries to do something new, so it had to look like something that already existed. G2 colors probably seemed like the best option, perhaps even the ONLY one, in terms of getting the box sets to sell.

Anyone else get FP and maybe thinking the same or otherwise? Anyone doing what most fans do and having both as representations of 2 different lines?
All I want is 1 for my classics line so I'd like to hear others comments on this.

Attach Viper to the gun, and put the first handle (the one on the longer part of the gun) in the 5mm peg on First Aid's leg (or in this case, Galvatronus's arm).

Rodimus Prime wrote:Pretty good! How did you get Viper attached to First Aid like that? I do think Offroad and Dragstrip should switch places.
I attached him to Galvatronus' gun and drilled through First Aid's peg-hole on the side. So I could push the long peg on the gun the whole way through the hole.
I like Dragstrip more as a leg because you can give him the foot-/shin-blade and with First Aid as right arm, Offroad fits better as the other arm to have both sholders bulked up. And I like to see his turquoise parts.

My Shockwave arrives tomorrow, so I will see what he is like then! But we do need a Sixshot. That is like one of my top 5 characters that need a new figure that I would buy instantly. (especially since with Bruticus, Devy, and the RiD cons right now it is day of Decepticons in my world).

The Optimus Maximus does look amazing and I love that scramble. And with the Galvatronus torso, the planes do work very well as legs, gives him a buff top and a slim athletic bottom. I like that! Now Bruticus will have those guys int he regular positions, but this still works awesomely.
Lunatic Prime wrote:What do you think about this combination?
That is a good one. the Offroad molds very well complement each other as arms, and I like the Dragstrip mold as a leg (That's how Optimus Maximus is right now, with Mirage as a leg). I also really like that arm cannon!
When I have the Sky Reign guys, I'm thinking Smokescreen and Mirage will be legs for the knee pads they can form, and Trailbreaker and Hound will be the arms so the arms are equally buff. Cyclonus will be the torso there since they are all Lost Lighters (Wheeljack will become OM's new left arm, and Prowl will become the right leg then). Plus, it's cool to think how my Lost Light combiner will essentially have forcefields, invisibility, strategy, tactical knowledge, the ability to make smoke and gamble with the best of them. Him and Defensor will look good together on my LL shelves.

Hey, I never actually said anything about it being a bad idea, nor did I claim I wasn't interested (though I still would have preferred a Ruination over a G2 Bruticus, considering they did a G2 Bruticus not that long ago for Fall of Cybertron).

But then what can I say - I would have liked both idea I don't mind Blast Off having a temporary stand in and yet I do still want a Hasbro version of Dlx Groove and Dlx Shuttle Blast Off too (if/when Takara makes one).
Unfortunately due to the aftermath of all that complaining now we might end up with two Blast-Offs instead of a bonus character who is coloured like him (as was the case with Off Road's role in the Stunticons).
I suppose it's to much to hope that Hasbro might consider re-packing Blast-Off jets in variant packaging under another name like say 'BlackOut' like happened with ROTF Dead End / Detour. or Beast Wars Cackle/Jawbreaker.
As it stands they have painted themselves into a corner now meaning they either have to admit their error sell the missing toys as some sort of premium edition or giftset or rename the Blast Off Shuttle Mould if they decide to release it instead perhaps as Skystalker.
So not really an ideal situation. It's a shame that Hasbro seemed so disinterested in making another jet mould as an F-4 like mould might have made a decent Flat Top too as well as a better Fireflight (Firefly) toy.
But I guess that doesn't matter now as much as they already swapped two of the other Aerialbot alt modes too anyway.
It's strange on reflection that they have these moulds that when you look at them they can make you think of other things like Deft Wing and a whole host of others and yet the choices they make (and don't make) leave you scratching your head a bit sometimes.
That is why I feel we need a return of Giftsets of premium edition (like the black box classics) to make proper use of all the obvious repaints like Bluestreak, Hoist, Sideswipe, Slicer or Exhaust and many more.
As putting them in a main line weave would seem excessive but making them in some way would at the same time be much more useful than say the endless parade or mild repaints and repacks in AOE ever would be.
Heck I wouldn't even be to offended by a seeker gift set of jet limbs. If only as they'd offer some alternative for Grand Scourge or Galvatronus.
Heck they are making gift sets if they stuck Cyclonus in a more purple-grey tone in a gift set and decked him out with seeker jet limbs I'd not be offended at all - I'd consider that as them trying harder than they ever did with the AOE repaint giftsets.
